  1. Shouldn't be necessary though should it!!! One of the most successful teams tried NL last year - Poole - and didn't continue this year as it wasn't cost effective, well guys it's up to you the fans, if you want NL racing to survive, you have to go out and support it. Not an easy thing to do in the current climate I know, but these promoters are trying to kick start the British scene but financially it isn't balancing the books I'm sorry I haven't a clue as to the fan base at Newport, but as I said Poole, with their large fan base couldn't make it pay, mind it will be a real shame for this to happen if it does, through lack of support. Good luck Hornets
  2. Thanks for the info, I always have to record the GP and watch it about an hour behind, so forwarned is forearmed this time, many thanks
  3. Sounds like it was a really good meeting, well done Mildy!!!
  4. Well we have new rule books at Ipswich Great news BTW
  5. Chris Louis talking on Radio Suffolk tonight about Mildenhall: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/p00dc5vw/Stephen_Foster_08_02_2011 go to 1.37
  6. Wow that's wonderful news so pleased for all at Mildenhall, and I have to say very, very pleased with the link up with the Witches, at last a chance for some youngsters to get on. Fingers crossed in the court case too!!!
  7. And Jarek has his say: taken from Lovespeedway.com: Hampel hits out at Polish authorities Thursday, February 3, 2011 3:36 PM FORMER Ipswich star and world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel says Polish Ekstraliga clubs are making a big mistake in restricting teams to just one Grand Prix rider in 2012. FORMER Ipswich star and world No.2 Jaroslaw Hampel says Polish Ekstraliga clubs are making a big mistake in restricting teams to just one Grand Prix rider in 2012. There are plans to expand the top flight from eight to ten sides next term and it is reported that every club will have to track four Poles. Should the new rules come into force, champions Leszno would have to choose between Hampel and Janusz Kolodziej if both men retain their places in the World Championship for next year. With five SGP regulars guaranteed to miss out on Ekstraliga team berths, Hampel has hit out at the changes. He said: “It’s unfair to my club, which has a plan, a long-term vision of the team. This may be meaningless now.” Hampel added: “I do not know what this rule is intended to do. Is it to make savings at the club? It’s not the way to do it. These are the riders fans are passionate about. “I believe that last season’s league was pretty balanced and unpredictable. Even if the 2012 season will see ten teams in the Ekstraliga, it means that the five Speedway Grand Prix riders will not be able to compete in it.” speedwaygp.com
  8. It's looking more and more likely that you are going EL, which is a big blow to us Witches fans who were really looking forward to some friendly rivalry and local derbies in the season ahead. I would like to wish you all, and your team all the best should it be confirmed tomorrow, because I'm sorry folks but you are going to need it!!! With 9 teams in the EL it was boring to say the least, weeks without meetings, teams with riders missing, and the blanket coverage of certain teams on the TV on Monday nights, made you feel like you had been watching those teams versus your team 9 or 10 times a season , so with one less this coming season OMG what fillers you will need Still you will hopefully have your NL team to ride the weeks you have no meetings, and obviously you will have the WTC. Good luck in the year ahead.
  9. And just think 1% of that £100mil would save Ipswich Witches!!!
  10. Lol, most of "in the know" say absolutely nothing!!!
  11. Well without proof, anyone could say anything they like now couldn't they?? All you are achieving is fanning the flames of the discontents by saying that various offers have been rejected. Orion I suspect at the time that Scott was sold, that was the intention to keep the money to invest in another rider, but things obviously changed and it had to be used in the day to day runnings instead, and what is wrong with that?? Starman, why were we over stretched in 1998? We had 3 promoters in those days. I find it upsetting to think that twice CL has gone to press(when they are notorious for not saying a lot), saying there will be an important announcement, and twice he has had to cancel the "good news". We have to wonder why the late withdrawal of agreement, I just hope that the prospective purchaser/s didn't come on line and then change their minds
  12. Lol and there it is again....the Scott Nicholls money i) what has it got to do with us where it went??? ii) we don't see KL fans asking Buster where the Darcy Ward money went do we??? even though he's had to put Doolan on the transfer list for being too expensive iii) did you not see the list of riders payments on another thread by wizzer??? how far do you think £36,000 would go when your riders are getting between £175 - £85 per point???? and 6/7 are guaranteed £250-£300 per meeting Your proof??? regarding take overs??, mind you perhaps the Louis'weren't ready to sell, or perhaps the people weren't right for the club As for sponsors....I've no idea
  13. Well said Dogstar. Shame some of the keyboard commando's don't put their money where their mouth is. If it was so easy, I'm sure we would have had a new co-promoter as we speak.
  14. Mike Bacon's twitter earlier today: Witches fans. Have just spoken to Chris Louis. The latest news from Foxhall in the Star tomorrow . . . . is it EL or PL?
  15. Obviously most fans apart from Poole ones that is, understand lol!!! Well obviously, that goes without saying!!! lol Sarcasm Jules!!!! you know
  16. , you mean Scott is not the cheapest No 1 rider in the EL....now come on CS you KNOW that the Louis' only have the cheapest!!!!!
  17. Well obviously that goes without saying, Scott and us fans too, but I was responding to your higher and lower statement!!
  18. Well my reasoning is that if its higher, then another team could possibly be able to fit him in along side their No 1 whereas if it's lower then all teams can only fit 1 No 1 rider in
  19. I would have thought lower, we get to keep him or higher we lose him
  20. Thank you, much appreciated hyderd.
  21. Lol so does that mean if he signs for Peterboro, it would be his 2nd choice
  22. TBF Prawn, most fans were expecting an announcement after the promoter's piss up in Bournemouth, that is the time line set by Chris Louis, quite unexpectedly we had an announcement saying that 12 o/c on Friday the Club would be announcing their plans. At the last minute that had to be withdrawn, presumably something changed at the last hour/minute which in turn has now set all us Foxhall fans quivering. How what where and whom. At best we just have to wait and hope that we have a club still in 2011 in whichever league.
  23. Oh no, now there's a thought , the Witches without the Louis'....not right at all. Mind you I suppose better that than fold if they want to drop down but can't Have to wait until next week I suppose.
  24. Well in the 45 point thread, apparently Peter Adams has said that the average losses for clubs in EL 2010 was £70,000 . That is a huge amount of money in anyone's book, millionaire or not, so if we do go down to PL perhaps this has some bearing.
