  1. League season gets underway, with Lawson powering up the Bears charge - expecting a comfortable 10 point win. Fingers crossed on weather.
  2. I'm surprised Carl Wilkinson has broken Redcar's new air fence yet - although he did give it a good go last week in all fairness to him. Also very happy with how Luke Crang has shaped up so far, nice style and looks good.
  3. On current form King and Harris are both very local to get invites.
  4. There wasnt much overtaking as the riders capable (the Bears) of doing it were already at the front, not the Bears fault there was no opposition for them.
  5. Good crowd, track in good nic and good Bears display, coupled with a shocker from the Greyhounds, not bad at all. Lawson was superb, as were Summers and Skidmore. Fair play to Graversen excellent (but a near 6 point reserve should be). Crang made some good starts and one very good win, looks a really good prospect. Wilko, well least said the better. As I said preseason he should have it in his contract about breaking the air fence. Konopka. Well unlucky it wasn't all four back in first and second ride was well on the pace. Not a complete no hoper by any stretch, be interesting to see him in a couple of weeks. Newcastle? Well what can you say, you know its a bad meeting when Henry is your best rider. Can't imagine them being that bad again! But fingers crossed!
  6. With Hall and Wilkinson, dont you think we have filled our quota of sub-standard British riders?
  7. Dont talk such uttter tosh, remember they are not doing it for FREE, they are all getting paid and some of them, quite well!
  8. New signings always worthy of a topic - announced by Havvy snr on local radio, recommended by Adam Skornicki as replacement for Richard Hall. If he impresses have little doubt he will stay in the team - fingers crossed, and why didnt we make this signing first time? Worth taking a chance on someone who could be great rather than someone we know wont be! Well done Havvy snr.
  9. I know great effort from Wilko, only fell off twice - well done Carl! Giving those new kevlars a testing early on!
  10. It is going to be a tough and long season, but the majority of logical Redcar fans knew that - anyone not looking through rose tinted glasses knew it, even with Kozza - who is a massive loss - we were looking at mid-table at best.
  11. Weakens us considerably - do well to avoid defeat now but fingers crossed not too bad.
  12. Judging by numbers on press day, Skidmore was 3 and Hall 4 - other than that will be it.
  13. He is saying it now because he knows we wont qualify for the fours - pairs maybe - now, where as with Smith we were surely bankers.
  14. Some of my quotes have been 'nasty' what are you 6-years-old? Carl is a big boy and sure he is not in tears. The fact is, since signing for the Bears, he has done nothing to warrant any praise - he has been below average at best, that is the basis of my own disappointment at him being in our team again this year. And I think most of the criticism for Wilkinson has been constructive as everyone is telling him to stop falling off his bike! Like with all the Bears riders, I hope they all go out and add three points to their averages - but as has been said that won't happen and I will still being going week in week out, no matter what is served up in front of me.
  15. So the only person allowed to criticise a speedway rider - is someone who has ridden competitive speedway? Dear me...
  16. I have no problem with Plymouth, big fan of them and always have loved having them in the PL. Just like with Redcar and Glasgow, think they have a poor side this year. Granted if they find a good replacement for Alex Davies, then they could do okay and if Davies arrives, then yeah they may not get the wooden spoon - but they will be in the mix that is for sure.
  17. Premier Shield: Newcastle Premier League Champions: Peterborough First Place (at end of regular season): Peterborough Premier League Cup: Workington Premier League KO Cup: Ipswich Premier League Riders Championship: Kennett or Cook Premier League Pairs: Edinburgh Premier League Fours: Workington Finally, The Wooden Spoon! Plymouth (hopefully) but Redcar and Glasgow could push them close...
  18. The SGP needs a round in Russia, as Phil R said they have tried too. If they can get at least one round there - that will help appease Emil with his sponsors. If they can get one leg in Russia, that would be huge.
  19. Think you will find earlier on this thread I call them equally inept. Kus was more frustrating than Wilkinson as there was/is a potential heat leader in there. Same can't be said of Wilkinson. And thankfully I can say what I want about him as this is a forum, and I think I have the right because I help pay his wages unlike some on here, who dont have to put up with it. And ok we get you rate him, but why bang on about that?
  20. But wasnt he at reserve from July to October? So he should be hitting double figures from reserve, any half decent second stringer would. As I have said before nothing against him personally, I just dont rate him as a rider, never have and never will - personally think he is robbing us Redcar fans of money - but fortunately for him that wont stop me helping to pay his wages...
  21. Hmm, July to October - how very impressive, but wasnt that less than 10 meetings? - well done a professional speedway rider staying on his bike for ten meetings. Whatever next...
  22. If your saying most of his falls happen because something takes place in front of him, then you didnt watch much of him last year - the highlight being the race where he actually fell twice. And if you want an entertainer who leg trails and is a specialist around the STMP (and doesnt fall off) then that is Matty T, who has produced some of the best ever displays we have seen at the track - Wilkinson not in his league when it comes to our track.
  23. On the bright side, the air fence looks very nice at the STMP - just hope we put a clause in Wilko's contract, you break it more than once you pay for it! http://i59.tinypic.com/73jv4w.jpg
