Can someone please tell me why Andersen got the 8th semi place though please? ............ obviously we had six riders on 6 points but two of those could be discounted as they didnt get a win (bye bye scotty ) so we were left with Rune Holta, Hans Andersen, Jarek Hampel and Seb Ulamek who all had a win, a second, a third and two lasts so then we have who beat who (unless I have missed a rule change): Hampel beat Holta and Andersen but lost to Ulamek = beat 2 and lost to 1 Holta beat Andersen and Ulamek but lost to Hampel = beat 2 and lost to 1 Andersen beat Ulamek but lost to Hampel and Holta = beat 1 and lost to 2 Ulamek beat Hampel but lost to Andersen and Holta = beat 1 and lost to 2 by my reckoning Hampel and Holta should have made it ahead of Andersen ........... and Hampel should have got the place due to him beating Holta The only way I can imagine they did it was on the basis that Andersen scored more points than any of them in the last GP which if true makes it farcical (and i'm sure Ulamek would have something to say about that too)

maybe you dont understand because you have generally lived relatively locally....as concrete cowboy points out...there are various approaches that fans take to GP's......and they are from all over the country...not just from the local area for example i'm usually designated driver for the journey to and from......which then gives us the option of staying over or not..........well we baulk at paying the ridiculously hiked up prices so we then look further afield which then asks the question of how we are getting there.........I would suggest that the train system is fairly basic and infrequent and buses require local knowledge (how are you going to know when you have arrived otherwise?!)...............so it usually just ends up with me driving to and from and then making the promise to myself every year that it won't happen again the next year as it is too much The very nature of the transport system means it reduces flexibility dramatically and forces people to either stay in the city centre or to stay sober and drive out ....and unless Newport is important enough the next day.. if you have started driving you may as well carry on well it is fairly irrelevant for me but I would be interested to hear from others about prices and if it was worth a flight in the end i'm no trainspotter or hotel connoiseur but I would have thought it was obvious how logistically it is streets ahead and cheaper although as I have said before all that considered I would not want it being at the expense of Cardiff

yes this is exactly what I was suggesting is it not?? indeed and I agree .....last year I booked a hotel just outside of Newport.........but how do the local transports compare Shawn?.......and the same applies to London.........there is a 20 mile radius outside of greater London which could also be used for Hotels this isn't relevant........my reply was in response to Orion saying that London hotels would be more expensive which is false you are missing the point I think.........the fact that it would be possible to get from Wembley to Kings Cross, Victoria, Liverpool St etc etc on the day and after the GP means that it could potentially save on two nights in a hotel for some for those choosing to stay over then the money spent on those crucial 3 pints in the stadium will be a drop in the ocean when comparing the potential savings made with hotels and transportation obviously please read my earlier post Shawn..........i'd expect you to have an agenda on this issue but not at the expense of being blind to what others are actually saying.......I like Cardiff and wouldn't want it to be taken off the fixture list .....ever! It is possible for us, just like the Swedes and the Poles, to sustain two GP's It is very doubtful that Wembley would share the same pre meeting atmosphere as Cardiff purely because of the location..........so we are talking about a different experience within the ground....the rest is just logistics in getting to and from the stadium.......... people would be staying further away as the crow flies BUT you do not take into consideration the transportation system............people could stay in East London and be a respectable amount of time away from the ground due to the tube...............people could stay in St Albans or Stevenage for example and not be far away time wise

sorry Orion but that was a completely unresearched statement.................. Q. What happens to the price of hotels in Cardiff on GP weekend? A. They double or triple in price Q. What would happen to the prices in London on GP weekend A. Absolutely nothing outside of a few mile radius because speedway will hardly be sending shockwaves throughout the city's hotel industry Q. Are hotel prices more expensive in London? A. probably........but judging from THIS not a great deal more and if you can't afford a quid a pint more for your 2 or 3 pints bought in the venue then perhaps you should stick with club speedway.............either that or subtract it from the savings that you have made on your hotel or train fare p.s. when was the last time you visited the Wembley area? I suggest a bit of chav spotting next time...........you'll probably get a high score

The major plus for the fans if a GP was held at Wembley is that hotel prices will not suddenly double or triple like they do in Cardiff......every hotel will be a mere tube journey away and trains will be able to be caught to the rest of the country. Of course holding a GP at Wembley would not necessarily be at the cost of the Cardiff GP as Poland and Sweden have been able to sustain two GP's for a number of years..........and there is an argument that such a historic venue (both stadia and City) would attract significantly more fans.

New Site!! As was posted last week I have purchased some web space as along with others I was anticipating the inevitable problems that we would end up causing the BSF............I have now created a site at http://www.britishspeedwaysliders.com i'm hoping it has everything we need and can be a springboard away from the BSF freeing up some bandwidth for everyone............ hope you like p.s. dont think much of the green....
