"dear mr. shell answer man..why do all the danish speedway racers speak english with a kiwi accent?" answer... they don't! kiwi speedway racers speak english with a danish accent, mr. smart pants. quite simple really.

i dunno.. that last album you were a part of years ago kind of sucked. (no offence). but you of all people know late morning and afternoons the wind blows except when ya get becalmed. still its better that getting pooped mid ocean, besides, when things are a bit tough a set of sails are cheaper than diesel. anyway, anybody else notice how the tracks were slick in these old films? even norden, where Ole gets covered in wet shale there is still dust? still, Ole had a really great style. and why do all the danes talk with a kiwi accent when they speak english?

Ian, The bikes are definately faster now. They probably have a good second a lap advantage over the last of the uprights.. But.. I think the deep tracks suited the uprights and the laydowns are too much of a handful to race a consistent four fast laps on anything deep. So, he probably set the record on a deep track. How long did Neilsens track record stand at Oxford? He was on an upright correct? Could be wrong, dead brain cells. My gosh, a hybrid modern bike with the latest short stroke engines, latest forks in an upright frame on a really deep track with a capable racer would be really interesting. p.s. how have the residuals been going from the old music? has the trend toward hip hop and rap cut them back and if so are you going to have to downsize to a smaller boat without air conditioning and ice maker?

Fair play.. Sorry..

Iris, His results speak for themselves. He was a terrific rider, whether people liked him or not. He slipped from 1980 onwards, but during his peak he was really good. Just listen to Ivans words in the video. Coming from him that is good enough for me. Very rarely do I disagree with you but this time I have to. Ole was the real deal in my opinion.

That was a really nice tribute to a great racer. Funny really, he was a champion back when all of the top fellas rode speedway, grasstrack & longtrack, and Ole was equally adept on them all. He was as tough as they come, and nobody can argue that.

you guys have far too much time on your hands.

Tme To Stop Bitchin....
sandman replied to Bee's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Bitchin is a term used on the west coast of the US to describe something good. Like, the waves were bitchin today, or "sandmans boat was pretty bitchin about ten years ago". Emil has a bitchin style.. sandmans dogs are bitchin. ice racing is bitchin. kauai is bitchen. some polynesian women are really bitchin lookin. the dalmation coast is obviously bitchin. croation women are bitchin. the salty dog saloon in port a is bitchin. catamarans are primo bitchen. middlo is kind of bitchin. laydown bikes on deep tracks are bitchin. well, there it is in a nutshell. -
Anybody hear rumours of an american sgp in the future? just heard some rumblings, mebbe process has started?

i think a lot of what happens has to do with sponsor promotion, and i have no problem with that for the riders. if it helps them, more power to em. they are on the fringe of motorsport, and it is a way forward for speedway and themselves. cheesy? yes, but necessary. i do get irritated with the blantant commercialism with nascar at times tho, when it gets over the top. my cheerios toyota camry dodge was awesome today, and thank you to pepsi for keeping me hydrated, m&ms for my energy, chiffon toilet paper for keeping my hemmeroids at bay so i was comfortable in the drivers seat, miller lite beer for making life worth living, ..and...ummm...oh yeah.. thanks to my car owner.... uh, and crew, they did an ummm... ..awesome job..also, my wife for putting up with my sorry butt, my mom, my kids, God (without him none of this would have been possible).. craftsman tools.. filthy w*ore management co. for lookin after me, etc. etc. then, one hour later they are in their cessna citation jets at 40,000 feet headed to their mansion for a well deserved 1 day rest. (i could get into the speedy guys getting into that vibe.)

after reviewing the film for the second time.. Emil was lucky that Scott missed by inches that right he threw, just missing the helmet opening by inches. That was a beaut of a right hand cross.. Betcha Scotts hand was sore on sunday. anyway, bonus point for the little fella for taking on a bigger opponent, and a bonus point for mannin up and taking his helmet off for Scott.. a well deserved draw to the two of them... -

to make cardiff really fun, ... promotional complimentary shots of jagermeister and aquavit to all poles in attendance! and old guys..see how many of the power drinkers wet their trousers by halftime. anything worse than a drunk sitting next to you with the unmistakeable odour of urine and soaked trousers, while throwing up? it could be worse people, quit yer moaning! -

All we can do Iris123 is try to illuminate and educate. Hell, it wasn't even a real fight. Got to give it to Scott for coming back at Emil in the pits when he walked by giving him crap (wearing helmet). Scott was yelling "now? ya wanna do it now?' Without helmet on I might add. Great stuff. As for Ice racing.. Remember when the Russkies used to 'spike" riders on purpose? Their favourite prey was the Czechs, and those tough guys didn't back off one bit (Czechs; Bring it on! ). Anyway, the promotors should have lowered Mitch Shirra or Gresh by cable from the top of the millenium stadium into the middle of the mix to make it interesting.. They would have hit whoever hit the ground first, like Jack Russells! -

Absolutely correct. It was a heated moment between two racers. End of.. Pretty soon it will be like Nascar where that sport is suffering from watered down sameness where they dont even let the racers express themselves. And they wonder why their popularity is plummeting. Corporate robots are not good for any sport, and that is exactly why Tony Stewart is my personal favourite driver. If it was up to them, he wouldn't even be allowed to sport a beard, or punch out Kurt Bush when he is begging for it. All in all looked a good evening, just wish for a bit more dirt as usual, but I am not on the anti Ole bandwagon for what it is worth. -

Personally, I have an opinion. Scott did leave Emil hanging out to dry. Did ya notice how he was looking over his shoulder as he rode him wide? If he was a bit less blatant, it would have been shrugged off, so I don't blame Emil for being p$$$ed off. However, I will say this. I was proud of Scott for sticking up for himself the way he did. He walked back to the pits, and took his helmet off whilst Emil (who appears to be a little fireplug, and no offence meant to him) was giving Scott crap while walking with his mechanic and only took his helmet off after he got back to his pit stall. I don't know, it was all a bit funny, and it did make good viewing. Quite sure the politico correctos wont agree, but it showed two racers who were wound up and passionate about their racing. I give them a draw. I do think Emil is a great prospect, he is a natural. As for Scott, I like him too & it was great to see him giving his all. -
1 Bruce Penhall 2 Shawn Moran 3 Kelly Moran so many other good ones.. Steve Gresham, Dennis sigalos, et al. But those 3 are my vote. if it was any other country, Ivan Mauger, Ronnie Moore, Tommy Jansson, & Ole Olsen & P.C.

Thanks Conkers.
