  1. Stunned with the sad news of Toni's untimely death. You were a good friend and a great help whenever asked, I feel so sad, my deepest sympathys go to your family.
  2. Rabbit, yes it seems that there may be the poor speedway fan dotted about who would be willing to pay over the odds for a room, However look at it another way, if all hotels took the same stance without any reaction from potential paying patrons where would that leave the majority of fans singles, couples or families when they were planning their budget for any such event. Consider this, if you had made reservations to go see, lets say, a major testimonial meeting, you have made the kids, friends and colleagues aware, you get nearer the time and find out the cost of the tickets have gone up 60/70/80%, the hotel rooms the same, the restaurant the same, where does that leave you.........except more out of pocket than you expected. Yes i do understand the market forces criteria you used previously, but understand that if the market is not boyant, then the forces are not applicable, sometimes you have to prolong the golden goose if you wish to have many eggs for many breakfasts.
  3. Once again the great sporting fraternity are being ripped off, sorry and annoyed to learn that Travel Inns have put up their prices. We as a nation have to learn to rebel and react against such blatant piracy, first write expressing your dismay to the head of sales and marketing [find out the name, and address personally], then be sure to book for next year , YES BOOK FOR NEXT YEAR, reserved by credit/debit card. You simply then cancel this booking at the last minute, usually on the same day or day previous, result, booking chaos, with a potential of under booked hotels, sales projections blown sky high, and the perpetrators left holding the baby so to speak. Finally as a "jesture" of good will write once again to the head of sales and marketing after the event, explaining your reasons for cancelling, and that you enjoyed your night at home, curry, bottle of wine and a good sleep to boot. It probably wouldn't make a great deal of difference but a copy of your correspondence to BSI would draw it to their attention also.
