BSPA still only has Nick, Tom & Jon as IOW signed riders. If its 6.21 left (no reason to doubt it, I just cant be asked to work it out), who WILL the remaining place Go to? Probably someone we havent even thought about. Surfice to say, I am sure those involved with running the team will do all they can to ensure they get the best side together that they can.

Well done Wightlink, without who, speedway on the Island would probably not exist. Guess someone from the Islanders must also had something to do behind the scenes. So well done to them too .

Not too sure Ben will be riding tonight? I live on the coast opposite IOW and weather here is horrible.Very wet,very windy.

Great confidence boost for the whole team & good to see Pav Jr being quoted as "Jubilant" ! Great start from Smethills...he has usually liked riding the track. Onwards and upwards now chaps.

Didnt think anyone would remember that one Wessex boy!! LOL I was clinging to the hope that Newport would not win the league....now, thanks to the changes, Ive got two hopes! Good effort by all the IOW boys, but lets see how we cope in next few meetings before getting too carried away...and before starting my diet, prior to my feast fit for a whole family !!

I still go as often as I can. Crowd levels are Ok, but IOW really depend on holiday crowds in Aug. Unfortunately(?)overall crowd levels are not enough for PL racing IMO. There are some really dedicated people who work really hard behind the scenes to keep speedway going on the Island. I have enjoyed NL racing & always get a warm welcome whenever I go over. Because of its location, its always going to be difficult for many people to decide to "just pop over to speedway" The "Wightlink Flyer" (hence the user name) is a good value ticket available from Portsmouth & IOW really do try hard to encourage people to attend. As for lack of interest on the forum....I often look at the threads & comment when I can. However, if you look back, there was only ever a handful of people who regularly posted & some of those no longer use the forum much.....or go to Speedway much. Hopefully, that will change soon.

I was there last night & it was good to see some smiling faces in the IOW pits. TBH, the Saints looked on paper a very makeshift, even weak, side. However, to be fair, they put up a good fight & if it were not for the three 5-1's at the end, the result would (obviously I guess!) have been much closeer. Saying that, IOW never really looked like losing this one. Good to see danny getting his max....the only time he ever looked in trouble was when they nearly dropped him giving him the bumps after heat 15! I just want to comment on the "live scores updates" on this thread. They sum up perfectly how the night went and look like an excellent description of events. Well done to the team who put in so much effort to supply them.
