In heat 8 the away number 3 rides in yellow with the away number 2 in white. This is the only time that the better rider is given what has traditionally been regarded as the lesser rider's colour. Is there a reason for this. Is it perhaps to make more sense of the gating positions?
If say a team's top rider got wiped out by an opponent and could not carry on, why is it cheating if all his remaining rides are taken by any of his remaining team mates who are not as good. Also if say a team's 2nd or 3rd best rider is unable to continue after being injured by an opponent. Why is it cheating if all of his remaining rides are taken by riders with a lower average. After all it is the other team's fault in the first place so why should they gain an advantage.
That's how it looks and I agree it is not ideal but as nothing has been announced yet let's hope that such an idea will be extended to cover your concerns.
Everybody still keeps banging on about the possibility of cheating if this is brought in. I will say again that it is muted that it will only be for a rider who is injured out in his first ride only and is unable to continue through no fault of his own. How can this be deemed to be cheating. It is purely to assist the damaged team.
But when this idea was first suggested by a promoter it was only to apply if a top rider was unable to continue after his first ride so it could not be used as a tactic. Only an aid to a weakened team.
6 Thursday meetings so far in the fixture list, the same night as Sheffield ride in the Premier league at home, not to mention when Sheffield have to ride away to Ipswich & Redcar. Will Simon Stead be unavailable for much of the season?
I read somewhere that if a rider got injured in his first ride only and could not continue he could be replaced by RR from that point and I think it was a promoter that said this.
Yes he will be the number one and his rolling average for presumably the whole of last season is 7.30 but he did better than this at the end of the season. If he does ride and continues to improve he will presumably soon achieve an average that is more becoming of a team leader.
