  1. I'm sure one of our older and wiser poster will be able to remember better than me but I seem to recall seeing pictures of some irate fans trying to water the track at a Wembley world final with a hosepipe some years ago due to the dust. Was it not Len and co that did the track there too?
  2. He's living in a mobie in the NA car park at the mo
  3. Regardless of what happens in the final pride in the lions(scuse the pun)has been restored and for the first time in years the other teams will not look at team GB as a pushover. It may not be massive progress but as it said in Bombers bit in the proggie Rob got the riders all together at the start of the year and explained his 3,5 and 10 year plans, how refreshing it is to see a team GB boss with vision for british speedways future.Lets hope he gets the backing he deserves from those in office at speedway HQ although I fear not as they seem to be too preoccupied with both fiddling team averages and while Rome burns around them
  4. Fingers crossed for you all Simon not just for the speedways sake but also Ray Mascall who obviously cares deeply for the club or he would not have bought it in the first place.Hopefully another beginning for the tigers and beginning of the end of a traumatic time for Ray
  5. Rob Lyon did not IMPOSE"a flawed young rider policy"last year he SELECTED a team of riders that regardless of experience were best suited to the job at that time.I am sure that if you ask him Rob would have been only too happy to have included the likes of Scott Nicholls etc had they have been on form and in the right frame of mind to be part of the team
  6. Sorry to interrupt but if I could just get back to topic here? Well done the fans, well done Buster and Cheryl, well done the manager and best of all well done the team for making everybody(apart it seems from small insignificant areas of Dorset and Wilts? )proud to be there and british.I think the team ethic installed by Rob Lyon(front page of this weeks star has got to be Lyons Roar )was best illustrated by when Tai had his off and to a man,as soon as the pit gate was opened, the team were out to make sure he was ok(I believe it was Scott who even ran/jogged )It was this togetherness along with determination and pride to be wearing the racejacket(unlike the windbag whackers in S.Africa)that eventually brought us home ahead of the Danglies. One final point, congrats and thanks to Buster who was working on the track prep for at least 4 days(unlike the 4 hours it seems at most tracks)almost round the clock just to try and make the track as good as he could possibly get it.As it says in the film"if you build it,they will come"and on monday they did just that
  7. If he did not have them or could not hire them then as much as I am sure he had his heart and soul in aussie speedway ,he should not be running such big meetings.
  8. What I find surprising here is that no one has questioned why the track was not up to scratch. If Len Silver,Bob Dugard, Huggy and Colin Meredith etc were given almost a day to repair/rescue a track no matter how badly effected by rain I am sure they would have managed easily. At K.L. I've seen them scrape off the top soaked layer of dirt, remove it from the track and then replace it all with dry material and re prepare a track on which good racing with respectable times has been possible. All that was achieved in 2 hours not 20 so did they not have the correct machinery/materials to do the job at Gosford? If the answer is no then why were they given such an important meeting?
