  1. Apparantly so. Kelvin tweeted he wasn't doing it and heard nothing from Nigel on Twitter about this. I just hope they can do a better job conveying the emotion that Tatum and Pearson, and without sounding too preempt, I don't think it can. For all the knockers that the original pairing get, can't understand myself why, I'm lost why they are not here for this.
  2. Not even in today's Herald Sun which to be honest is rather shocking not to see. Whose the PR person from BSI? I see Triple M dropped the ball with a massive opportunity to have a star name on their breakfast show, so SEN pick up the pieces.
  3. So for fans of speedway in general, and those that are followering this GP in particular, do you think that somebody, either BSI, Monster Energy or Etihad Stadium would arrange some television and radio media appearances this week? Isn't somebody leaving money on the table in trying to draw money in ticket sales by having a rider such as Tai Woffinden for example, a double world champion, Australian links growing up not doing some radio in the city, and not only try to reach a market which has a 5 year deal on the table here, but sell himself and the sport to increase business towards Saturday. Advertising has been aired on pay tv on Foxtel, radio adverts in Melbourne and surrounding areas. Not sure if any have been on free to air tv on channels like 7, 9 and 10 but someone might know.
  4. Fox Sports have been advertising since the weekend. They've been on throughout the night here. Triple M and other radio stations in the Melbourne suburbs have been continuing running adverts. So I don't quite understand where you think tickets are sold out because they have not
  5. Fox Sports I noticed (pay tv here) started running GP adverts on Saturday. Also I wonder if riders like Tai are doing any radio and tv appearances on Fox Sports or free to air channels promoting next weekend. Triple M in Melbourne is an option on their sports breakfast with Eddie McGuire. Same for the MW station here SEN
  6. So he doesn't have Permanent Residency from way back?
  7. Thats why I think this GP for us down here has a bit of a cool factor to it. Sure the standings are mostly set. Apart from Nicki and Greg vying for runner up spot, there's needle in this duo alone. Tai being crowned in Poland, and his obvious connection with Australia, he'll want to put in a good display. No question he wants to win this. Which in turn creates competition with the likes of Holder and Doyle, if they're engines and set up suit the conditions in the hunt. Will the roof be open if Melbourne soaks in sun all day like we've had this week so far? I think for those who are attending, whether from down under or from Europe, can't wait to see a stadium like the Etihad, who host AFL games during the season be transformed into a Speedway Arena. I have the same goosebumps now, like the time leading up to the first Cardiff I went to in 2001 for 10 consecutive trips until moving overseas. I've been crying out for a GP in Melbourne in this sporting city and regardless if fans think it's a damp squid in essence, I think there is a showcase to be performed by the riders to win this GP
  8. The only thing i disagree with is the word disgraceful directed towards the start Marshall. So much going on at the tapes and I forgive him for not being aware regarding the goggles immediately. You could argue the SM didn't have the luxury of the pictures on tv like we did zoomed in, but he had the best seat in the house right on the tapes. Especially as he was assisting Newman as well. When the exchange took place and Newman threw away his goggles, then the technicality took place. The blame firmly lies in the Grand Final at the referee in this instance. It's not something that should be taken lightly either especially if you're the Belle Vue club for instance. You can't ignore the error and dismiss something like this. I don't believe not having a review could be looked upon as not in the spirit of the sport. Speedway does have a method to look over this. It's something that should be addressed, yes I think so. I officiated Ice Hockey for some TV games in the past, and the last thing the match allocator, players, fans and viewers want to see is a mistake occur where a hidden rule (as I call it) passes a referee by, to which it could have an affect on a game. The difference is video replay. The referee at BV had a monitor right in front of him, and the fact it didn't get any response after Heat 12 is a bitter pill to swallow. Once the race is officially declared then it's tough bigger for the team on the opposite. In this case I feel if someone knew this rule as it happened from anywhere else in the stadium, he then should have been alerted straight after the red flags came out. Did I know the rule, unfortunately I did. That's not me being smart. I just stumbled across this rule through watching over time. The likelihood that Poole with home track advantage, and racing for Darcy as well (will lose) is slim in my view, BUT nobody knows the mindset from BV other than win the meeting and put the Pirates under pressure early on. I don't have a particular team in particular that I barrack for. Just love good entertaining Speedway.
  9. Booked and ready to take Melbourne by storm (and I don't mean the NRL!) Staying at the Crowne for a few days and the warmer weather I hear is coming
  10. How is it that this meeting is not being covered live in some description, be it online or via SGP. I mean it is to get into the main GP for 2016 right?
  11. Excellent racing last night which was an absolute treat to watch at 3am. Tai in Heat 4 and 11 I think it was with Pedersen was superb to watch unfold. I thought Doyle was far too eager to nip up the inside and wipe out NP and MZ. A couple of incidents recently involving Doyle haven't gone unnoticed comparing him to Nicki's rougher style. Hope to see more of Bart next season. Just wonder if they'll be looking at him as a possible wild card next season. Holder showed tremendous character riding in the meeting. In hindsight I suspect Steve should have left him alone in the end. I think realistically two more good rounds from Tai should be enough to complete the job for the remaining fixtures leading to Australia.
  12. Loving this coverage from tonight's meeting on Eurosport in australia. Lindback continuing his form with some excellent riding. I think Elit could come in strong in the latter part of the meeting.
  13. I have a question. How many Poole riders this evening ignored Darcy Ward for the entire evening? Answers in any fashion you lot wish!
  14. Just flown in from Australia this morning and what better match to go and watch than this little cracker. Hope the weather holds off for this mouthwatering tie. I'd imagine it will be a packed venue tonight. Can someone please tell me what time gates open for this meeting?
  15. Is it one of those visas where he's classed as a sportsman or is it an alternative visa like a skilled sponsored/Business like here in Aus?
  16. Zero coverage of the GP in Australia which is frustrating as it's far more interesting than the rubbish at Silverstone! Fox Sports news had no coverage that I've seen today although the meeting is on live here, but no build up. Pretty excited to see who makes the starts and get off to a good start in the first segment of heats. Naturally Heat 13 stands out with PK menacing at the forefront. He could steal that one given his start which wouldn't surprise anyone. Really hope Tai has a good safe night. The anticipation for him must be incredible in the upcoming hours, like everyone else also. Again, just hope the track provides a memorable nights racing for all.
  17. Tired argument I know, but realistically on current hunger, Lambert would most probably out score Harris had he cemented a wild card spot at Cardiff. He didn't, but that heat 15 win only reaffirmed who I would put my money on getting a race result being thrown in the deep end of any meeting right now.
  18. Just watched this match on Foxtel. Bloody fantastic finish to the meeting. Chris Harris take note. A 17 year old with more fight and determination, AND getting the job done as it should be. One hit wonder? Think again.
  19. Do you think this interview will be downloaded as a podcast for TS afterwards?
  20. Jimmy Liddell would do a great reconstruction of the incident and yell out he's not Avin That!
  21. I knew Lew many years ago through his son who I played Ice Hockey with. Never saw him referee as I wasn't into Speedway back then, but what was he like calling matches land when decisions needed to be made, and did he have a good rapport with team officials and riders?
  22. Melbourne in my opinion has a real chance to succeed Cardiff in the future if all goes smoothly in October. A true sporting city.
  23. I condone it too. Hard racing maybe, but I'm of the conclusion that Greg had every right to seek NIcki out for that BS. Finally NIcki solidifies his character that he doesn't respect Greg Hancock period. Was only a matter of time before someone lumped Pedersen for his riding and look what happens. No surprise Would we be saying the same if a Woffinden, Iversen, or a Holder had paid him back
  24. The product would be worse if Steve wasn't doing pit lane reports and interviews. No better choice
