  1. Early to mid 90's I believe. Cant be any more precise than that, as I emigrated in 1990. They had moved up from 13-heat matches, so they didn't want to bother with a second-half. A lot of fans thought they were pointless, but there are still a few of us on here who miss them...
  2. That's weird! My grandad was the groundsman at Wimbledon FC in the 60's and 70's... Nothing like keeping it in the family, eh?
  3. Wimbledon was also where my parents met...
  4. Like watching the adverts on an online forum...
  5. Flooded a few years before then too!
  6. You're not supposed to name the track - just the fact...
  7. Does that really narrow it down???
  8. We never had all the problems with scams and identity theft back then... Just sad that we have to deal with all these idiots now.
  9. What about oval car racing from 1954? Oh, he already did that...
  10. Thing is, there is so much fraudulent activity out there these days, they have to make sure. It is for our protection.
  11. I really shouldn't have to go through all this with you, John, but I want to give you some basic information. Forget links, messages, and all that crap. For a Facebook account, you need three things; a name, an email address, and a password. Yes, it's that simple, and it's no different to the BSF, or any other online forum or group. Now, you say you are unable to "enter" Facebook? How are you trying to "enter"? As I said, you only need three things to create an account, and they are EXACTLY the same three things you need to log in to your account, so what are you missing? I don't think it's your name, as you have managed to create two accounts under your name. I don't think it's an email address, for the same reason as above. Is it a password you're missing? If so, that is no issue, as all you have to do is follow the instructions on the login page where it asks you if you "forgot password". Again, no need for links, messages, confusing correspondence, or any of that. One you are in Facebook, you can delete your account.
  12. That's weird, John... According to Facebook, you ARE a Facebook user (with multiple accounts - unless there are TWO John Hyams in Penge), and you are a current member of at least one speedway group on Facebook. Therefore, you should be able to access the page - and others. Did you forget that you are a Facebook user?
  13. I'm still in shock that he isn't on Facebook! I thought he was a major factor in the success of all those groups? Won't they collapse now?
  14. I'm sure there are some very good ones on Facebook!
  15. Most of them are probably no longer with us, wouldn't you think? Still, if dead people can vote for Biden, you never know!
  16. I wasn't sure how to title this, but hopefully this was okay... On July 31, 1975, Cradley visited Oxford in the Inter-Divisional KO Cup. The Rebels won 43-35. Top scorers for the home side were Lovaas with 11, and Greer and Kennett with 10 each. Boulger led United with 12, and Cribb got finished on 11. Had Garry Middleton taken second place in Heat 3, he would have finished on 10, and so would Dag Lovaas. So, this got me thinking. Have there been any occasions where both teams have had three riders finish on double figures? I am referring specifically to 13-heat matches (there have been many instances in 16-18 heat matches). It doesn't necessarily have to be all heat-leaders (that does limit it quite a bit), and there will obviously be some R/R or T/S rides involved, but it was something that just got the old brainbox working... Yes Steve, I know I'm peculiar!
  17. Wow! You know so much! Were you there???
  18. What? That's terrible; I'm in shock...
  19. Forget the final GP; Rickardsson lost the World Championship much earlier in the season. Actually, he was robbed by one of the worst refereeing decisions in World Championship history.
  20. Yep, that was 79. At the British Final, he only had one point after two rides, but scored seven from his last three to reach White City.
  21. It wasn't the only time Roger did something like that! Not sure what year - it may have been 1979 - the Aces came to Plough Lane, and he scored a 12-point max which included two fantastic wins over PC. In one of those, they passed and repassed, but it didn't matter what PC tried, he just couldn't get the better of Johnsy.
