  1. I was just getting on here to say that! Juniors going out for a few races would make a HUGE difference...
  2. Can he call it moist spiced ham???
  3. When I think I struggle to get concert tickets for non-headline names for that, damn right it is!
  4. That is an all too common occurrence at tracks that stage greyhound or other motorsports. I recently stumbled on an online article about Plough Lane, and there was no indication that they ever held speedway...
  5. Have to say, that would be my five also!
  6. That sounds great, Barry! I know that nobody wants a long drawn-out meeting full of lengthy breaks, but I can't understand those on here who wants everything done in under an hour. As I said, if I go somewhere to be entertained, I want some entertainment! I have driven all over the country to see speedway meetings, and if I thought everything would be over in 45 minutes, I probably wouldn't have been to half of them... That's why I used to love grass-track.
  7. How did I know... ...that you'd leave Plough Lane off???
  8. Ila and Pepe Teromaa in 1976. Cieslak and Jurczynski in 1978.
  9. Vaclav and Jan Verner rode together a few times in 1978...
  10. And a lot of people seem to want all that done in less than an hour... I'm sorry, but if I drive a few hours to watch a meeting, and spend that kind of money, I want more than a 45-60 minute show... The trouble is, it seems that no two speedway fans want the same thing. One wants team, and one wants individual. One wants it over in an hour, and one wants a full evening. One wants outside entertainment, and one doesn't. One wants good racing, and one wants a thumping home win. One doesn't care as long as it's exciting, and one only wants to see the top stars.
  11. Yeah, I can never remember when things like that were introduced, but it is funny considering his averages were still up there. However, I just looked at the stats again: From 1984 to to 1988, he rode between 41 and 50 meetings a year. In 1989 and 1990 he rode 34 meetings. In 1991 he rode 24 meetings, and in 1992 he rode 25. So, BIG difference there...
  12. It really changed from the time he went to Oxford, Steve, as there weren't many before than. 1984 - 10F, 9P 1985 - 17F, 11P 1986 - 22F, 9P 1987 - 21F, 9P 1988 - 15F, 4P 1989 - 9F, 5P 1990 - 1F, 4P 1991 - 4F, 1P 1992 - 3F, 1P Considering he was still averaging well over 10, that's not many from 1990-92...
  13. You ever been to charity shop, and asked for charity?
  14. Yup... I knew actually, as I have met quite a few blokes called Sasha over the years.
  15. How on earth did you let Nordin slip in there?
  16. I never had a problem with DJ, but he was one rider who just seemed totally incapable of team riding!
  17. I'm glad you said something! I've been wanting to say that, but I didn't want to have to deal with the responses... Why should a rider have to go down in order to get something done? People whine about those who drop the bike too easily, but if you've been given a hefty whack and fought to stay on, why should you be the one penalised?
  18. Oh, so it's not a new thing then???
  19. We complain about some of the things that go on today, but we had a lot of stupid stuff going on back then, particularly with R/R. We used it in early 1976 for Christer Lofqvist - even though we knew he was never going to ride for us...
