  1. You beat me to it; I was going to start this very thread!
  2. I get that, but it's a lot quicker and easier to check things online - and there is a lot more info available!
  3. Thanks for sharing that one! I can't get the UKTV to play over here, but I can certainly watch Daily Motion. My dad used to see the actors regularly when he was driving around the area.
  4. That's it! 42 years on and you lot are still rubbing it in!!!
  5. I HATE YOU LOT!!! I had to miss the bloody thing as I was laid up with chicken pox...
  6. SSSSHHHH! You don't want to make him jealous!
  7. Just answer the question, please?
  8. Calm down, man! VERY few people actually get banned by "Facebook", we are talking about getting banned from Facebook groups. So, why do you claim that it is only ONE group now, when you just said it was two? From the way it reads, it looks like you were banned from those two in addtion to the "suspension". This is a problem with you John, as you have a marked tendency to contradict yourself on here.
  9. So, which is it? Have you been banned (suspension is the same as banned) or haven't you?
  10. John... If nobody answers you, perhaps it's because they don't have any answers for you. Have you ever considered that? And again, please stop quoting yourself! There is absolutely no need for it, and it smacks of self-importance.
  11. Maybe he'd know Terry Mussett???
  12. You do realize that you don't have to check your programs in most cases; the info is usually found online. Speedway Researcher is the best, while speedway proboards is great for the BL era. Ken Eyre stayed with Belle Vue until the end of 1972, when he switched to Wolves for a couple of seasons. McGregor and Major both rode for Doncaster in 1970.
  13. Not that it's really an anecdote, but it was about 1989 or 90, and I had just got on a cross-channel ferry to go to France. I parked the car, and I was just getting out when I heard, "Are you a speedway fan?" I looked round, and it was Sandor! He saw the stickers in my back window. We had a little chat, and that was the last time I ever saw him...
  14. I'm pretty sure that Ken is still going strong, and I think Graham is too. The trouble here at the moment is that the temps are fluctuating wildly - and everyone is getting sick!
  15. Have a look here : http://www.cradleyspeedway.co.uk/riders/jimmycoy.htm
  16. Besides, Wimbledon had already been closed for a couple of years before he even joined the BSF, so I honestly don't think that was the reason...
  17. Really? That's a very bizarre comment to make! I'm still on here, despite Wimbledon closing. So is iris123. And cityrebel. And Robbie B. Come to think of it, MOST of us who are on here have lost our tracks, yet it's no cause for us to leave the BSF.
  18. Not THAT amazing; people leave the BSF for various reasons. You yourself have done so - several times...
  19. I'm friends with him on Facebook. I don't know whether he was "the" official photographer, but he always had a camera around his neck!
  20. That would be Geoff, wouldn't it?
  21. Ken Moss passed away a few years ago, and we lost Taffy Owen last August. Edit: Peter Thompson passed away last April. I thought so, but wanted to make sure before I replied.
  22. Thanks for that! Must admit, he hasn't really changed that much!
  23. Strange, but one thing that stands out in my memory is the appearance of Steve Waplington at Plough Lane in 1969. He was a Belle Vue Colts star, who was pressed into service by a short-handed Aces side at Wimbledon. He scored 9 points, and provided the only support for Ivan Mauger. He finished the season with a near 8-point average, and even had an outing for Young England against Young Czechoslovakia at Doncaster. He spent 1970 at Rochdale when the Colts moved over, and improved his average. He then retired at the age of 23, and seemed to be forgotten. Does anyone know what happened to him? I assume he's still alive? He really was one that impressed me, and I thought he had a bright future.
  24. John, I've told you before, that is NOT the way to generate interest and discussion. All you do by posting questions, and then quoting and answering yourself, is to annoy people! If you have a genuine interest in someone, and want a discussion, you should do it the proper way. I will show you the proper way, if you give me a few minutes to ask about Steve Waplington...
