  1. It will usually show that a couple of times during the day, but isn't out long.
  2. That's strange. Not that we have the channel, but it only shows the final...
  3. What saddens me is that there are people on here who won't have a clue what we're on about! They won't know anything about 'King Cinder'. They don't know Graham Baker, let alone Don Clarke. They won't remember, "Make it a Date, Friday at Eight!" Sigh...
  4. For some reason, speedway fans used to just love spending their free time standing in queues!
  5. As we've said before, speedway just isn't "cool" anymore. Forget the organisation (or lack, thereof), forget the death of greyhound racing and demolition of stadia, forget all the experts on the BSF; for whatever reason(s), the public aren't interested. We've gone from a nation of speedway fans to a nation of ex-speedway fans to a nation of "What the f*** is speedway? Never heard of it." Don't expect me to provide answers, because I have no idea...
  6. You didn't create any "confusion"; you were just unsure of the information. We all do that.
  7. What? John thought he only rode one meeting; what's wrong with providing correct information?
  8. I used to get to Plough Lane about an hour before the start, and watch the riders arrive, get autographs etc. For World Finals, big meetings at White City etc, I would usually get there a couple of hours early.
  9. Nope. That was Norman Clay... I would have thought that was common knowledge. Ken Le Breton died after clipping Eddie Rigg's back wheel.
  10. Bring back the old WCQR's!!! Okay, we'd only need one or two...
  11. Let's not forget Howard Cole/Kid Bodie or Bernie Lagrosse/Roy Williams...
  12. Last I heard he was working for peanuts... (I'll get me coat...)
  13. Ah, variety... God, how I miss that. Singers, comedians, ventriloquists, magicians, jugglers... From 'The Good Old Days' to 'Junior Showtime' to Ralph Reader's 'Gang Show'.
  14. I was sure it was a wrist injury, but I couldn't remember how he did it...
  15. Nope. He also rode at home against Harringay.
  16. Great post... As has been said on here recently, British speedway has suffered from a lot of problems that AREN'T directly related to speedway, the most important of which is the lack of venues. You can run a sport without sponsors, but you can't run a sport without venues. The big problem is that unlike most other motorsports, we can't just use "land"; tracks have to be built, and built a certain way. It is one of the hazards of being the most specialised of motorsports. I do agree though, we need to seek out more venues - but that costs money...
  17. What about (d) all of the above?
  18. What? You want to know what he was carrying too?
  19. Do you think John knows?
