Housing and Sainsbury's... what will be on the site of Abbey Stadium? Housing...

You know, people keep blaming the speedway authorities for all our problems, but really, they don't have much say in the existence of our sport. The fact that most clubs don't own their stadiums (and we have lost our status as a "city-centre" sport), the ever-increasing demand for housing and business parks, the great British NIMBY, and speedway not being "cool' anymore, they are what is really destroying the sport in the UK. If somebody wants to buy the land, and flatten the stadium, what do we do?

You should know, once we have our team, that's it. Whether they still exist or not is irrelevant...

Sometimes, that has probably been the case. However, that doesn't have any bearing on multiple accounts, blatant spamming, and constant posting of copyrighted material - despite repeated warnings. You can't blame that for his own bullying and abusive behaviour (for which he got banned), or deliberately inflammatory posts. Or his refusal to acknowledge people who have tried to help him. A lot of his posts ARE intended to cause trouble, and I don't understand why...

You posted on here a few months ago that he was going to be 100 in April, so I guess he is!

Seems he passed away last year, at the age of 102.

He was the only other one I knew!

Remember, he'd already won the Master of Speedway in 1979, and in 1980, he scored a maximum in the WTC Final (defeating both Lee and Jessup), and was R/U (to Les Collins) in the BLRC, and R/U (to Mort) in the Inter-Continental Final. Plus, in the England-USA Test Series, he outscored them both again. It might have been a lot closer than you think!

Seeing Guy Allott's 100th being celebrated on here made we wonder; how many former speedway riders have reached that milestone?
