Funny you should say that... I had a very long time in professional sport, and met with a lot of success at the top level over the years. As good - and experienced - as I was, I was never afraid to learn; I WANTED to continue learning. Much of the stuff you are told from outside sources isn't really going to be a huge help, but some is - particularly when it comes to the mental aspect.

I saw him at Plough Lane. Had two rides, with one DNF (after a fall), and a second half outing. Didnae score a point, so I can't say he left a real impression on me. Still, I'm sure he could have made an impact with another season or two in the UK. Kind of unusual for an American to struggle at Wimbledon...

That's the thing, as the riders finished their heats, they SHOULD have known exactly where each one stood in relation to the others. If they knew it was going to rankings (which they should have done), it should have been decided and announced within seconds.

If so, that's something new. Wembley was always packed, yet nobody went THERE for the racing...

Doesn't mean they're not English, though, and it doesn't mean we won't have an English 1-2-3...
