  1. As has been said, the idea of them being one and the same was just a crazy idea based on the western distrust of Eastern bloc nations at the time - and perhaps a little Lanning sensationalism! They both rode in the 1976 World Team Cup final at White City. I think that was the only time I saw them together in person, but they were also in the 1975 final. Steve
  2. Pretty sure he did, although it was at the end of his career, and I don't think he ever represented Sweden in international competition. I came close to including him on the list... Steve
  3. Doesn't count, as there is no such country as Tasmania... Seriously though, while he did represent Australia for a short while, he did represent New Zealand - legitimately and legally - for the vast majority of his career, and can - and should - be considered a New Zealander. Steve
  4. You even got the best New Zealand team riding pair - Bill and Drew!!! Steve
  5. Oh dear, it does seem that several of our posters - on ALL of these threads - are mathematically challenged. We are looking for TEN names, but I have seen fives, sevens, twelves, and even several SINGLE names! Steve
  6. I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the most spectacular of them all, Torbjorn Harrysson! Oh well, so here goes (and I am deliberately avoiding any of my beloved Dons). Torbjorn Harrysson, Christer Lofqvist, Per-Tage Svensson, Haase Danielsson, Bengt Jansson, Conny Ivarsson, Christer Sjosten, Rune Sormander, Jan Simensen, Erik Stenlund. Steve
  7. I think her name was Elisabet, and I did mention Julie Cross on the previous page. Oh, and the girl at Exeter who I couldn't remember was Sarah Cunningham. Steve
  8. Yep, that was Deborah Cherry who researching Fay Taylour also. I shared quite a bit of info with her a few years back when she was working on the Fay project. Steve
  9. I've seen quite a few riders riding like an old woman... Steve
  10. As far as I am aware, Mark was only ever English; he never claimed Maltese nationality. Steve
  11. Good call! Very accomplished rider who doesn't seem too well remembered these days. Steve
  12. I remember her having a go, but not sure where. Her name was Pauline, I believe... Steve
  13. There is not - and never has been - an anti-Mike Bast undertone on the BSF. Now move along, there's nothing to see here... Steve
  14. That was American Bobbi Hunter. Others appearing at indoor events were Julie Cross (Simon's sister) and Maxine Hill. I used to work with Maxine. She rode for the Hackney junior team, and was a VERY good grass-tracker. Lisa Whibberly rode for Arena Essex juniors, and there was another girl at Exeter around the same time, although I can never remember her name... Steve
  15. I think you'll find that the Weymouth rider was the late Garry Ford, Steve. What a tragic end to a promising career... Steve
  16. That is what waiheke1 is saying, John... Steve
  17. Uh oh.... Can't keep blaming it on fat fingers and incorrect specs. There was another name I remember from the 70's - George Fitzgerald. He seemed to be the best of the Irish bunch at the time. Steve
  18. Which is why he is on my list... My mum was at Wembley that night! Steve
  19. We can keep this really simple : Beaton, Beaton, Beaton, McKinna, McKinna, McKinna, McMillan, McMillan, Templeton, Templeton. Steve
  20. I always got the impression he was your fave too... Steve
  21. How many coats do you have? Steve
  22. How did he do, Ron, Ron? Steve
  23. How splendid of you to post in response to your post which had no other responses posted in between your previous posted responses... Steve
