  1. Surprised nothing has been posted on here, but there are many posts on Facebook reporting that legendary speedway photographer Mike Patrick has passed away. R.I.P. Mike
  2. Trouble is, back in the day, the tracks allowed you to do that...
  3. Great job, Dan! After watching that previous ride. there was only ever going to be one winner!
  4. More than that, I'd say! As my dad always said, riding out wide makes the straights longer...
  5. I was always taught that the shortest route was the quickest. So, how come Dan rode about 6 miles further than Holder there, and won???
  6. 90,000 crazy speedway fans from all over Europe created the atmosphere. 6000 senior citizens doesn't quite do it, does it?
  7. You know, I still love love it when people bleat on about how great World Finals are, and how we need to go back to them. Why? The racing was generally very poor. We went to Wembley for the experience, the atmosphere. We were able to ignore the quality of the racing because it was Wembley. What about 1981, I hear you say? Greatest final of all, thanks to the racing! No. It wasn't. There were TWO good races, that's it. 1976 was far superior racing wise. Trust me, Dean, I'm with you on nearly everything you post on here...
  8. Oh well, we are desperate for new blood in the GP's, so bring on the changes. Guys like Zmarzlik and Bewley are clearly past it...
  9. "Your"??? Who's embarrassing himself? 🤣
  10. Wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought this would be the most visible thread. Tai has been taken from the Krosno track by helicopter after a bad first bend crash in heat 7. No precise details yet, but apparently he is conscious. Early reports indicate multiple fractures to his arms and his femur. The meeting was abandoned. Just keep an eye out for more info, but I suspect that this could be a career-ending crash. Last few years, he has been in the wrong place at the wrong time so often.
  11. You've given me an idea...
  12. Hull's Boulevard Stadium is a school playing fields, and Lea Bridge is an industrial estate. Romford's Brooklands Stadium is now housing. Edinburgh's Marine Gardens is a bus depot, while Berrington Lough (Berwick) has simply returned to its former use as fields.
