no what i was saying was that it wasnt meant to be deadly serious with loads of money riding on the outcome, it has always been a fun day out, why spoil the fun by excluding riders and having three rider racers. apart from the play offs last year most of the matches didnt matter as we were always going to qualify for the play offs, this year will be different because there are only four teams in the play offs.

does it matter, its not the GP is it?

and where are Carmarthen now? do we want the outcome to be the same?

but according to Chris (see above post) this is for good of British Speedway if not for newport, why? i dont know

no way the dogs would run on a saturday night, hoping that no riders would have other more lucrative commitments on the thursday night so that they will turn up i suppose

Thats great, nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be proved wrong on this one, if i am then speedway will have taken a step in the right direction, if not there will have been a lot of hype for nothing, lets hope its the former

agree i also think that an extra meeting in a GP weekend for a family including and extra night in a hotel could be too much for many people, so they will give the pairs a miss, where as on an other weekend they might well have attended. hope im wrong but we will have to see. i wont be going because it would mean taking a days holiday, and i dont have enough of those to spend going to the pairs and then paying for a hotel in order to see the GP the next day

what i am saying is whats the difference between the last one and this? is the fancy web site going to attract fans who have never been to speedway? are there any speedway fans who would not have known this meeting was going to take place without the website? if some one could answer these questions in a positive way with sensible reasons then i may be persuaded to change my mind

we thought the alternatives were supposed to come the comittee set up to revolutionise the meetings, instead the revamp is to take us back to times when they werent succesful

point 1 i dont understand, if being the most succesful PL track for the last seven years shows a lack of ambition then god help the other teams. also if making sure you can give attractive speedway year inyear out with competative teams and a financially secure future means a lack of ambition then leats be unambitious and have guarenteed speedway every season Point 2 i agree with totally, and at £20 and on sky i think a few sheffield fans will give it a miss as well. the last time it was at sheffield it attracted an average league attendance, and the prices were more reasonable as well. maybe they need compton and ashworth to attract sheffield supporters to make it a success

happy to help, dont know why the one time was missed but i didnt fill the programme out, cant remember the match either but looked like a good one from the programme would have been a disaster to lose to halifax at home

yes thats right, and thats the attitude that enables promoters to not promote and to year on tear tell us costs are rising too fast and must be cut and the standards drop and supporters go away from the sport. hop you will still be saying that when there are only a few teams left.

I cant remember when the rules about the 1 to 5 came in, but i can remember exeter having Ivan Mauger at no 2 for some away matches many years ago

Totally agree, the two lowest riders at 6 & 7, 1 - 5 in what ever order the team manager wants. at least it would give the team manager something to think about, although in sheffields case it might not be a good thing

Yes they were and still are in to breaking cars for spares in rotherham, still think i heard thats where tommy made his money as well but not sure

and you know that their employers would do this for them? and what about the people doing this extra work, thats not an option, all that would happen is you would get an even greater gulf between the proffessional riders riding nearly every night and the amateur ones riding once or twice every two weeks. wont happen, and if it did it would kill speedway as we know it, might even be the end of team speedway

and what happens to the lesser riders who only ride in england, one meeting a week would not make it worth their while.
