Premier League Best Pairs
The Third Man replied to Sandie's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Why he put his comments on about the fours why not this. If the BSPA dont know the rules yet, then it just leaves things wide open for criticism when the decision is made. If they know the rules lets have them now, so we all know where we stand. Have emailed the BSPA but didnt get a reply -
Just like to say sorry to the Redcar supporters and team, why have they been forced to withdraw and yet workington havnt. If it was the team that qualified then redcar have seven riders to choose from like the rest of us, so like to know the reasoning behind this decision. And what happens if Rye house lose another rider, does that mean another team will take their place, after all they do have a record of getting riders injured just before competitions like this one. This whole thing is a complete farce.

No answer from Mr Chapman about the selection process for the pairs, perhaps once again we will find out after the selection has been made -
and which team is used to big fast tracks where you pass inside or out????? and have won two of the last three fours at peterboro?????? and as for knowing the rules, no one knew when the cut off date was for qualification until after the teams were announced and no one still knows why birmingham and not any other team that didnt qualify were seeded so we still dont know the rules, as we dont still know the rules for the pairs
-
actually its nothing of the sort, we finished 8th in the averages, so even a second place at kings lynn would have made no difference what so ever, as did scoring more points than birmingham in the two matches we rode against them. as for mr chapman telling us how it was all sorted out, thats fine after the event when anything can be made to fit, would have been much better explaining how it was going to work before the teams were selected, and i dont remember seeing anywhere why birmingam were seeded, perhaps you can enlighten me on that one. would be nice to see the details of how the pairs are going to be selected now, rather than after they are selected

In view of the problems caused by the qualification criteria for the fours can our super 7 organiser come onto this thread and give us the rules for qualification for this competition NOW, cut off date for averages minimum number of matches to get a qualification average what happens if one or both of the pair have to withderaw (or all 7 riders have to withdraw) what the criteria for the nominated pair will be if we have this information now it will stop the discussions going on on the fours thread so come on let us know now -
quite amazing, the line ups were based on averages after this date, but birmingham had already been guarenteed a place before that date. perhaps we should give birmingham a helping hand by seeding them to the KO cup final and play off final, and handicap the other finalists so birmingham win. just think league and cup winners in teir first season wouldnt be good publicity???? or perhaps they should be made to qualify for events like the rest of the teams and like redcar had to in their first season. not sour grapes about not qualifying just fed up with speedway being run by a bunch of amateurs PS hows our rider sanchez doing for birmingham
-
and heres another me wong, fully agree bring back the qualifiers then we can get rid of mr chapmans crazy ideas and the best eight teams on merit ands not averages after 1 meeting another point are workington now not going to qualify? hanson injured, his replacement hadnt even raced before the cut off point so that should put sheffield in and maybe the second reserve team in if redcar arnt allowed to ride
-
thats right chris we finish eigth in the averages with eight teams qualifying and we dont qualify thats really not being good enough isnt it, bit like dry not being enough for the Prem Trophy, Fours, pairs (sorry had the all of rye injured for that one didnt you ) cup and play offs last season isnt it (especially the play off semi final of course, well done eddie) mind you as he isnt your rider dont supose that bothered you, are you bothered about that other good rider that doesnt belong to you being injured for last night

As people know last years averages don't neccasarily represent riders performances this year so it was decided that with ALL super7even events we would use REAL TIME averages, this is probably something that has never been done before and is as far as i'm concerned the best way to get the most in form teams into a competition, basically the cut off date was Friday 13th and all meetings up to that date were used to calculate EVERY single rider in the premier league..... ok this may be open to flaws such as some teams only having 4 official fixtures and some 7 but surely this is the most accurate way to get the best line up? so real time averages up to the 13th April, a real form guide when some teams have only riden 2 home and two away, perhaps the PLRC and pairs representatives should be chosen on these real time averages as well, then we can have a total farce the most accurate way to get the line up would be qualifying rounds, and no explanation why in the elite pairs the nominated team was the last team who would have qualified according to averages, and the present champions were overlooked yet in this competition for some reason its not the last in line acoording to averages but birmingham, if the averages is the fairest way of deciding the finalists why birmingham. and why have a reserve team, in the past if riders are injured the next riders in the averages of the team that has qualified have taked their places, why the change for this year? when is the last date for replacing teams whose riders get injured, if a team has their top two injured one week away from the start date will they be replaced by the second reserve team?, and if they would be who is the second reserve team? what a farce the first two competitions in the super sevens have been
-
like everyone else would love to see the criteria for qualification, better still would love to hace seen it BEFORE the season started, but this is speedway so no one will tell us. another farce, so much for the much revamped "super 7s" up to noe the pairs without the defending champions and everyone in the dark about why some teams have qualified and others not and no explanation of why first we needed a seeded team at all and secondly why was that team birmingham

Yes looks like the "super 7" is not so super after all, the bspa had the perfect oportunity to allow belle vue in by nominating them as the last pairing, although i agree that all the teams should be represented, but failed again, will be interesting who gets the nomination for the last place in the PL 4s.
