  9. i believe phil white is a commercial pilot, quite frightening with the number of engine failures he used to have
  10. or even a cardiff based event where the world championship was up for grabs
  11. coatbridge in 68 & 69 wasnt it?

  17. There was meeting afeter the final in Norden in 83 which i went to. as far as i can remember the pitch was untouched
  18. Well couldnt care less about all the people on here who think they know the truth about bob, and certainly couldnt be botherd about whether he was gay or not. what i remember most about him was his riding for sheffield, some great rides come to mind, beating ivan mauger at sheffield arount 72 or 73 and beating eric boothroyd and eric boocock at halifax in 1968 in heat 13 with his back wheel on fence for all four laps to get sheffield a 39-39 draw. That and his captaincy of the 74 team which i believe is still the only team to have won every leg home and away in a cup competion so lets forget the was he or wasnt he gay and remember him as agreat servant of sheffield who would always chat with supporters and sign autographs. RIP Bob one of the best captains sheffield has ever had, if not the best
  19. sad about the county ground, but good to see another owls fan on the forum, couldnt get much further apart than you and king jamie either. heres hoping for another victory tonight at west brom
  20. its either greg or mark dekok, both rode in the second halfs at sheffield in the 80s and could easily have ridden at scunthorpe in that period
  21. checked now im at home, either greg or mark dekok, not sure but think its greg
  22. thought he went to wimbledon then oxford, but could be other way round
  23. Yes bob was a very rare rider, one that only rode for one team. one of the best captains sheffield ever had, remember him standing down from a few rides to let an in form reserve have another ride. Captained us to only ever british league trophy in 1974. Joh dews only left us because of rider control, we were never allocated another rider in his place though, his place in the team being shared by reg wilson and doug wyer who were riding in division 2 at the time, a fortaste of doubling up?
