as much as we can entertain ourselves between races, by talking, i would love to be entertained for the 15 races as well, and that was missing for a lot of last year
-
is there a button to click for not liking this?
-
and someone else who is there most Thursdays, Garry Stead
-
have to disagree i am afraid, i was thinking of terry thornhill
-
not for the last time, there seemed to be a complete lack of understanding from the team managers last season on a few matters. as SK said a team manager that can manage and not bow to the whims of individuals is a must, but when did we last have a real team manager?
-
the only problem i can see with this is at least keeping the numbers from last year, if some supporters dont see any improvement in either results or entertainment more could vote with their feet. winning the league has never been a priority for me, winning it twice in 44 years shows this, but i do want to be entertained, and i know you could argue that Richard will provide this, he was nearly a one man show in the PLRC, i think many wanted someone that could offer a little more. i hope i am wrong, and the enthusiasm from Knight and Koppe on thursday night does them a lot of credit, and i hope some people on me can say i told you so, but i am not totally convinced yet. We will all see in March
-
one miracle yes, two? who does it undermine, and how, are there really any speedway riders with such a gentle disposition that they get upset by what a few people say on here? and it is only a few people who come on here, how many have contributed 10 at most, so no one can claim to be representative of the fan base at all

he has a job in Leeds so is staying for a while then going back home for the final preperation, and some sun

Positive night at Starrs, hoogy couldnt turn up, sorry Dave, nice to see damien and jake there along with Jordon Tyrer, and Richard Knight and Paul Tyrer, what ave would they come on. We will now have to wait and see i suppose, just like we did last season at this stage, still worried but the two new lads there were positive, wanted to ride for Sheffield so heres hoping lastly on Starrs thanks Des for the cheapish beer and on to the Barrack for the next meeting

bev???????

the change was proposed when stead said he still wanted to ride for swindon, was that was sorted there was no reason to move i am very sorry elephant man but i work hard for my money and if i dont want to sponser sheffield speedway with it i wont, if we lose speedway in sheffield it will be because the product was not worth supporting, if it was people will come,so dont blame supporters, i will pick and choose meetings next year, even more than i did last season, and i know two supporters who didnt attend last season and who wont be coming back this season, they were tempted with stead, but the latest signings have left him saving £30 plus drinks and petrol each week again how often do sheffield drop riders?
-
what about the future? if this gamble fails and we lose even more supporters then there may well not be a future. i can appreciate building a new asset base, but we are under the points limit, with only wells and the the new guy, and thats a big maybe, capable of increasing their average i am very sorry but i too think it will be another long hard summer for us, lets hope we were down to the hardcore fans last year because i would hate to be stood there with even fewer people around me than there was last season
-
can you just remind me of Pauls average in the PL last season?
-
from what i remember tai came on a 3 and ended up on an 8 and won rye the league, ashley birks did really well at the end of his time at sheffield and scunthorpe were really grateful for that last year, cant remember autys first season average but he had averaged around 9 in the nl with scunthorpe. what was jakes average in the nl last year? around 5? sorry but those three examples do not make me more confident about knight in fact it convinces me even more that this team is looking like last years but with a good number 1
-
yes we have one good rider who hopefully will maintain his average, i cant see joe haines improving when he is not at reserve all season, i cant see jake knight averaging 3 points a match unless he is much improved from last year, i cant see damien koppe getting 5 and richard hall hasnt increased his average for years. a title winning team needs the majority of riders to improve their averages, i think we will lose 3 points off the above riders averages. that means the next two riders will have to put a combined total of about 9 points on their averages to get us into a challenging position like i said in an ealier post they will have to be the most inspired signings in the history of speedway, so i am sorry if i am not shouting from the rooftops about how good this team is, its because once again it isnt, its make up is the same as last years with a good number 1
-
well thats it for this season as well, 5 riders signed who will all have lower averages at the end of the season than the begining. the last two need to be the most inspired signings in the history of speedway to get any of last years missing supporters back, so no doubt the next two will be sanchez and then his argentinian mate so they can keep each other company, that should be the final nail.
-
Four riders signed, four riders who wont increase their averages, i can see the last three being hall sanchez and skiddy,
-
The supporters wont come flocking back if we get cheap riders, eg hall and sanchez, because we have signed stead, we need the right seven riders and the next three need to be riders who can improve, wells would do for one of them for me
-
My only worry for now is that i cant see the three riders we have signed increasing their averages, not that i am saying they are bad signings, but if we are to challenge at least three of the last four we sign must be capable of increasing their averages
-
Ricky wont ride for Sheffield again, or at least not in the near future, apart from Stead who is the last good rider to leave Sheffield and come back? Andre is the only one i can think of, it seems to be that when you are good and leave Sheffield the grass really is greener
-
if hall or sanchez signs again it will be a waste of time signing stead, would love wells but lets keep away from the ones that cant improve
-
neil never releases all the names at once, cant you remember when the full team was announced in Australia a few years ago despite us all being told it had not been finalised yet
-
How would any other time but friday or sunday be helpful with getting more kids through the doors?
-
Thinking about it if we switched to Friday they would have to run the dogs thursday afternoon and night, cant see that happening. so it must be Sunday or just another load of waffle
-
To get more kids in it would have to be Friday night, which has happened in the past, or sunday afternoon / tea time, if not stick to thursday
