  1. might be a very good reason for this if the rumour i have heard is true
  2. didnt the last time they played there, and its not a done deal yet
  3. yes he would, because he has potential, thats all that matters whatever the nationality and he can entertain, which is what i go to speedway to be
  4. Have to agree, everybody thinks that air fences are the graet thing with no investigation as to how many injuries they prevent, how many they cause, how many riders take extra risks because of them etc. not saying i dont suppoprt them, but the only major injury at Sheffield this year would not have been prevented by an air fence
  5. so you coulnt support the track at Stoke despite the air fence (Luke Priest), or other tracks where the air fence have not stopped riders getting injured? also how many incidents of fist bend bunching do you get in the GPs with air fences compared to tracks without fences? there are more of these in the average GP than there are at Sheffield on a Thursday night, and the GP riders presumably have more skill than the PL riders at sheffield there are more
  6. Steady riding for Swindon was the reason for the possibility of sunday this season sunday for the PLRC is ok, but every week in the summer, other things to do at weekends , and will he run against football? or will they be blank weeks mind you Mr machin did say to me last year that no one who goes to speedway supports football anyway, how about that for knowing your support
  7. if the riders are so bothered about air fences why have they ridden this year, and all previous PL seasons without air fences? and why do EL riders accept guest and open meeting bookings on at tracks that dont have air fences? why was there a british semi final held at Sheffield for the last few seasons without an air fence? there must be a chance of something happening as i am sure that all the PL & NL tracks will not be in a position to buy an air fence, are they all going to close without a fight? lets wait and see
  8. If the promoters havent started talking about next year by now then god help the sport everyone can see the mess its in, everyone knows there is no sky money coming in, lets hope they understand the situation and dont just bury their heads in the sand again, as usual. how many PL tracks dont have an air fence? and how many of them cant afford to buy one? lots and lots of factors that are already known now, including how much each promoter has lost this season, so there is no need to wait until november, everything can be sorted now
  9. i remember him riding at sheffield as a mascot one of the many mascots who went on to ride elsewhere
  10. On another note, are there any plans for a collection for Ricky? i am sure the sheffield supporters will want to show their appreciation for what ricky has done in the past for us and help him and his familly
  11. and another two, after last weeks farce of announcing one line up and getting another printed in the programme i am not waiting until 7:45 on thursday to see who is riding
  12. Some of the worst crashes i have seen at sheffield have been on the straights, loram cartwheeling down it in the world cup for instance. and as for our fence being safe, ask paul cooper who hit the third bend fence at high speed thanks to vissing, and managed to walk away
  13. What some fans dont appreciate is when they tell the fans who complain that there wont be any speedway if they dont support their local track is that these are the fans that couldnt care less. they dont go anymore, so if the track closes they lose nothing. the promoters and some supporters need to take their heads out of the sand and look for reasons why people dont go anymore, not telling the stop away fans that it is their fault their track is closing
  14. only problem i can see is that would require us to have a team manager who can tell the riders what is good for the club and not just for themselves.
  15. We were talking about this last night and came to the conclusion that nothing has changed for the supporter in the 45 years that i have been going to speedway. there has been no evolution just standing still, the opinion from promoters seems to be that people have always turned up to watch the same thing for the last 40 years why should they stop turning up now well thay have stopped and no one seems to want to admit it because they would then have to think what to do about it, a thing that promoters seem unable to do
  16. yes they do but it is a permanent structure, an air fence would need erecting every week and from what they have said in the past, they want to inspect it every time it is put up
  17. but wouldthe council inspect it on a Sunday? hopefully if it happens the council will see sense and the problem will go away quite ironic that H & S could stop something being safer than it is
  18. our problem is the fact the the hillsborough thing happened just down the road from discussions with the council in the past they wanted to inspect the fence every time it was erected and not just to see how it was erected why is the back straight at Sheffield deemed unsafe when you can stand on grass banks at peterborough , somerset and leicester? hopefully someone in H & S at the council will see sense if the rule comes in, but as we all know, councils and common sense do not usually go hand in hand
  19. Yes could be the end for sheffield as no way will we be errect the fence after the day time dogs meeting and get it inspected by the councils H & S people.
  20. thats part of the problem, he said a match would most likely be off from 30 miles away and he no intention of going to the said match
  21. should be good on Thursday, how many will berwick get? thank good i cannot go for the three weeks after thursday, at least i wont have to make excuses to myself for not going after this week
  22. the sheffield promotion dont like criticism, either on a forum or face to face, thats why the sheffield forum was closed down
