New Rider For Sheffield
The Third Man replied to Steve55's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
only problem i can see is that would require us to have a team manager who can tell the riders what is good for the club and not just for themselves. -
Speedway Star - Point Of View
The Third Man replied to tigerowl's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
We were talking about this last night and came to the conclusion that nothing has changed for the supporter in the 45 years that i have been going to speedway. there has been no evolution just standing still, the opinion from promoters seems to be that people have always turned up to watch the same thing for the last 40 years why should they stop turning up now well thay have stopped and no one seems to want to admit it because they would then have to think what to do about it, a thing that promoters seem unable to do -
yes they do but it is a permanent structure, an air fence would need erecting every week and from what they have said in the past, they want to inspect it every time it is put up
-
but wouldthe council inspect it on a Sunday? hopefully if it happens the council will see sense and the problem will go away quite ironic that H & S could stop something being safer than it is
-
our problem is the fact the the hillsborough thing happened just down the road from discussions with the council in the past they wanted to inspect the fence every time it was erected and not just to see how it was erected why is the back straight at Sheffield deemed unsafe when you can stand on grass banks at peterborough , somerset and leicester? hopefully someone in H & S at the council will see sense if the rule comes in, but as we all know, councils and common sense do not usually go hand in hand
-
Yes could be the end for sheffield as no way will we be errect the fence after the day time dogs meeting and get it inspected by the councils H & S people.

Sheffield Vs Leicester Pl 30/5

the sheffield promotion dont like criticism, either on a forum or face to face, thats why the sheffield forum was closed down -

not quite how it works, with a tac sub you gained an extra 2 points, 3 - 3 to a 1 - 5, with the tac rule you gain 5 points 3 - 3 to 1 - 8, so you need three tac subs 1 - 5 to gain on a one heat 1 - 8, and you can use two which means a possible gain of 10 points, impossible under the old rules, now which is better?
-
to be honest only those with very rose tinted glasses couldn't see the potential problems, it didn't take a genius. think albin and knight could still come good but we cant afford to carry haines and koppe as well as giving those two a chance. I cant understand why albin hasn't been at reserve when he was the one that showed more potential at the press and practice day
-
everyone i have talked to hasnt got a season ticket so make sure the strongest reserve has the right gate in heat 2 and then swap them around, simple
-
This doesnt matter IF you have a team manager that swaps things around, easy to play horses for courses with the reserves in a meeting
-
we always have riders knocking the door down to ride for sheffield, trouble is its a very strong door and they never get through it
-
Which ones? cant see any of the five we have signed who will improve, hopefully some will maintain their starting average of the two others suggested, richard hall hasnt improved his average in years If we sign wells he could improve his so we might have gone down the route of signing one rider who could improve
-
that would save me £50 per week
-
not certain but i think it was said at STARRS that hall and wells are signed, can anyone remember if this was the jist of it?
-
get the point, as i did in the first post, but lost me there sorry
-
there you go again accepting second best
-
just to play devils advocate can i just mention kym mauger and tony briggs and many other examples of sons not being able to follow in their fathers tyre prints. like i have already said, Jake impresed me with his enthusiasm and the fact he wants to ride at sheffield at the STARRS meeting, i hope he and all the other newcomers do well, i hope my opinion is not proven to be fact, but we will have to wait and see
-
to start, i have supported sheffield through thick and thin for 44 years, not just the last 10 good ones, mostly thin years as well, and i dont think Hoggy is blackmailing anyone, its not his style. but i will reserve the right to spend the money i earn on what ever i want to, if that isnt speedway, because i dont think it is value for money then so be it. so i will not be blackmailed into giving my money to sheffield each week by someone saying it will close if i dont, have you ever thought that if i dont go because i dont enjoy it then i obviously i wont be bothered if it closes will i? however i do not want sheffield to close, i want to go and be entertained each week, but i will not take the blame if it does because the product is not value for money.

Give us something to watch, or no 2014
-
best thing was until they gave the scorers at the end of the meeting we all thought that Jordan Framton had won heat 2 and surely finishing runners up in the play offs mean we finished second
