  1. i was there, my first season watching speedway Might even still have the programme
  2. Cant remenber him wearing glasses, see avatar, Bobbath, is that the race jacket and wasn't it normally eight qualified from each semi?
  3. As I said is this something to do with the pressure he is under riding for family at Sheffield?
  4. I just think for his own benefit he could do with being away from the pressure he must have riding at Sheffield He showed this with how he rode for Coventry and some good scores in his guest bookings, however I agree that on his average it wouldn't be a problem having him back.
  5. Was a joke, because he has progressed for Coventry, but not for Sheffield
  6. Totally agree, actually anyone would be better than Boocock, even our cocker spaniel, at least she doesn't upset everyone
  7. Agree, cant see a problem with the signings so far, both have the potential to up their averages, and that's what you need. thought it was common knowledge at the end of the season that Berge wouldn't be back Need a number one next then the rest can be sorted out Up early this morning Chris
  8. Because nobody seems to know if the newcomers will be 2 or 3, seems to be a lot of confusion, can you put on here your source that they will be 2?
  9. Who is a two pointer, is it just riders with an average who are two pointers or all British newcomers? if newcomers come in on a 3, and riders with one years experience could be a 2, isn't that the wrong way round, shouldn't the riders with little or no experience be on a 2, and the more experienced ones be on a 3? And who would go with two, two pointers so that can build to 42, teams will go with one two pointer at most, or will go with a three pointer, so build to 40. So it is a reduction in standards
  10. Will only work if the admission charges go down as well the product has got weaker and weaker and crowds have got lower and lower year on year you wont stop this by weakening it even more, especially if that comes with more guests, if we are short of riders then why didnt they go for 6 man teams, 19 less double up riders required
  11. Lower points limits and more guests will just lead to picking and chosing meetings for me, depending on the track improving, or it could be no meetings
  12. Or the opposit view that the standards in both leagues has been reduced, but there will not be a corresponding reduction in admission costs always an opposing view
  13. It will only cut costs if the riders who are in demand to complete teams dont hold the promoters to ransom for their services so I cant see it cutting costs either, unless all the promoters stick together
  14. i will wait and see, but if I feel I am losing out, I will save a lot of money and the club will lose out
  15. Speedway is a summer sport I have got used to that over 50 years of watching. Football is in winter, weekend or Tuesday nights, I have had to get used to watching at different times over the weekend I agree. but I have got into the habit of going at a weekend or a Tuesday night. In summer I do other things at weekends because the weather might be good, maybe even go to an away speedway match Speedway has on the whole been every Thursday in the summer. In the winter on Thursday I don't want to do anything else, I am content to stay at home.
  16. I have been going to football as long as I have been going to speedway, both are habit forming. Football has always been more or less every two weeks Speedway has always been every Thursday that's it, if I don't get a meeting for a month because of a rain off, that's three weeks to find something to fill my Thursday night, if it is cheaper and more entertaining I might be persuaded to go there instead, in winter I would rather stay in in the warm, and again its a habit, no speedway in winter, no football in summer the other thing is why are people looking at tweaking things, it has gone past tweaking and needs a radicle rethink before there is no speedway no it doesn't, they now only go to one match a month anyway, they don't gain and neither does the club and the club might have to pay twice the amount of rent for the stadium every two weeks, or more if the stadium is losing money for food and drink as well, because the landlords are not going to want to half their income over the summer
  17. Well done to Somerset deserved winners well done Sheffield deserved runners up
  18. The first decision for next season needs to be to get rid of Boocock, then start the team with Howarth, and making up with Garrity might be possible if the first decision happens
  19. Sheffield, hopefully with six guests and RR to upset everyone but Somerset deserve it
  20. 1968 first match of the season Sheffield v Halifax, so if I go next season it will be my 50th season
