Does British Speedway Have Future?
The Third Man replied to Pieman72's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Even if that was true it would be irrelevant, you cant hold up a meeting because someone is having bike problems, unless after a crash, -
Never thought of him staying with Stead as team manager, but as you say nothing to say he has gone, heres hoping though
-
I have to say that every time Boocock gets involved with Sheffield he upsets riders and the track gets slick, hopefully with him gone next season we can get back to normal
-
Yet some tracks do it on a regular basis, and Sheffield actually managed it on few occasions last season, the best meeting being against Newcastle in the league cup
-
Just to put the record straight, they didn't throw a match, they bet that their team, Sheffield Wednesday, would lose, in fact one of them got the man of the match award after the game, still a serious offence but not match fixing
-
Would want to risk your life for no pay, that's what you are saying he should have done I can understand someone going through the motions and staying safe, after all it is the promotion short changing the fans, by collecting their money and not paying the riders who therefore did not put on a show for fans
-
A lot will depend on who has first call on the riders when there are fixture clashes, this could be just as important as any injuries we may get
-
Great news, potentially, hope this works out, and with team as it is should be a good year. As long as we get the track sorted out.
-
the name change is irrelevant, it wont change anything at all The strange thing is on radio Sheffield before the play off final they said the winner of the play off final would be "Promoted" to the Premier League (they don't do speedway normally) how ever as it happens they were correct, Somerset won the play offs, moved up a league and will ride in the premier league So maybe they knew more than the speedway experts knew after all.
-
i think the league titles could be decided on who has first call on the double up riders, therefore avoiding guests. so its not just injuries to worry about next season
-
i was there, my first season watching speedway Might even still have the programme
-
Cant remenber him wearing glasses, see avatar, Bobbath, is that the race jacket and wasn't it normally eight qualified from each semi?
-
As I said is this something to do with the pressure he is under riding for family at Sheffield?
-
I just think for his own benefit he could do with being away from the pressure he must have riding at Sheffield He showed this with how he rode for Coventry and some good scores in his guest bookings, however I agree that on his average it wouldn't be a problem having him back.
-
Was a joke, because he has progressed for Coventry, but not for Sheffield
-
Do you support Coventry or Sheffield?
-
Totally agree, actually anyone would be better than Boocock, even our cocker spaniel, at least she doesn't upset everyone
-
Agree, cant see a problem with the signings so far, both have the potential to up their averages, and that's what you need. thought it was common knowledge at the end of the season that Berge wouldn't be back Need a number one next then the rest can be sorted out Up early this morning Chris

Like I said lots of confusion
-
Because nobody seems to know if the newcomers will be 2 or 3, seems to be a lot of confusion, can you put on here your source that they will be 2?
-
Who is a two pointer, is it just riders with an average who are two pointers or all British newcomers? if newcomers come in on a 3, and riders with one years experience could be a 2, isn't that the wrong way round, shouldn't the riders with little or no experience be on a 2, and the more experienced ones be on a 3? And who would go with two, two pointers so that can build to 42, teams will go with one two pointer at most, or will go with a three pointer, so build to 40. So it is a reduction in standards
-
Will only work if the admission charges go down as well the product has got weaker and weaker and crowds have got lower and lower year on year you wont stop this by weakening it even more, especially if that comes with more guests, if we are short of riders then why didnt they go for 6 man teams, 19 less double up riders required
