How good was the racing at the Shay.?
The Third Man replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Years Gone By
i went loads of times from 68 until it closed and always loved my visits and I saw lots of close races, in fact the reason I didn't go to Bradford very much was because it was nothing like Halifax -

Always used to enjoy the Shay, and had lots of opportunities to go to watch Sheffield First time in1968 a double header with Halifax against Glasgow and Sheffield they beat Glasgow, 52 - 26 I think and then drew with Sheffield 39 - 39 with Bob Paulson using the banking to beat Boocock and Boothroyd in heat 13 with Larsson last to get the draw -
What about Sheffield, opened in 1929 as a speedway stadium

Got mine free for the 30 months

we also need to ban him from travelling in a car, have you the way some people drive, crossing a road, drivers again, walking, the pavements are a mess in some places or any activity except laying in bed all day, watch for pressure sores though, until the season starts then we can let him ride a speedway bike for a living PS my eighteen month old grand daughter went sledging for the first time and didn't get hurt, just thought I'd mention it

You do realise its the BSPA that has awarded it to Redcar don't you, Thought? -
Couldn't agree more with this, but opening the doors last season has led to this situation. Re Bellego, I am sure if he took legal action the rule would be dropped, seems the BSPA don't learn, but no surprise there
-
But again that would be discriminating against them the rule was wrong, (blame the BSPA for that) so had to be corrected immediately
-
Its not the Kennett / Nichols ruling that make people not take the sport seriously, its the fact that riders can ride for two different teams in the same country at the same time that people cant understand
-
It didn't apply to all riders, riders with a higher average were allowed to ride in the CL it discriminated against riders that didn't ride in the CL last season. the old rule was applied to all riders in what is now the PL with an average over 6, so didn't discriminate against anyone
-
It just fails on all three 1,.Make sense. 2. Fair. 3. Be applied equitably (same for everyone). the points limit doesn't fail on any
-
Points limit is the same for all teams, all teams agreed to the points limit Nichols and Kennett were not treated the same as other eiders of equal or even better ability I don't see what there is to misunderstand about this
-
or is that extra meetings that have no importance at all, in other words just put on to make the numbers up not having a dig at Sheffield its just the way speedway is at the moment
-
Looking at the fixtures, because of holidays and free Thursdays I will not see any speedway in June, but if we do well again I will be able go in freezing October
-
Graversen won us the league last year, if he is at reserve he would do OK

i get BT sports for free on my broadband contract

Surely they don't get beaten every time at such a neutral track? -
That is correct

Redcar handed fours

So if you have a team with Aussies in it you will have an advantage, so does that make it a neutral track? -

Have Redcar ever had a team capable of winning the league? Sheffield always seem to have home track advantage when they have a good team, it disappears when we don't I really don't understand this fact -

No such thing as a neutral track, unless there is a track where non the riders have ridden before. If Redcar was a neutral track then the opposition would have as much chance of winning as the home team How many times have Redcar lost 50% of their home meetings in a season, that is assuming that the teams are evenly matches of course -
And how many didn't go anywhere, or how many of the ones who went every week to Coventry went every week to another track? Far more fans will have been lost forever or hopefully only lost until Coventry return home, soon hopefully
