Ipswich V Scunthorpe Ch 6-7-17@7-30pm

Most promoters in this Country are very lucky we ever go. We all hate the double points rule, what do they do? NOTHING!!! We all hate doubling up, but instead of curtailing it they expand it to ridiculous proportions. And don't get on started on the 10 heats rip off, piss off we've had your money and we couldn't give a stuff about you as customers. Most promoters should be very grateful we're stupid enough to ever go and get charged £16 for 15 minutes. I only go to Foxhall out of some strange loyalty, but I certainly don't want to watch crap teams more than once a season. -

Decided at the start of the season I'd only watch each team once unless they entertained me the first time, Scunny don't fall in this category. The only exception will be the pussycats, as they keep getting it wrong, they'll have a completely different side when they come again. -
The Race For The Championship Play Offs
spanner47 replied to Norfolk Bear's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Normally at this time of the season the "real table" is a good indication of how the league is taking shape, but this season it's distorted a bit by who has ridden at Berwick and ( to a lesser extent ) Scunny once or twice. Normally + 8/9 would give you a good shout of the play offs, but this season I reckon it'll be + 14/15. So in a nutshell, don't drop any home points, get 2 wins at Berwick and Scunny and you should make it. -

20 heats in under 2 hours, shocked, stunned, did that really happen? All those involved in an excellent afternoons entertainment, take a bow. -

Happy with a point. Didn't expect anything from our reserves, so pleased 1-5 did what was expected. -

For years us Ipswich folk would head over the border assured of some brilliant racing at Saddlebow Rd. Sadly stopped that some years ago when the racing became boring, maybe it's time you lot returned the compliment, some brilliant racing at Foxhall last night. As for Buster, he spends the winter saving clubs from extinction, then does all he can to ruin his own club in the Summer. -
Why do posters only come on here and mention the bad. Just watched last Sunday's offering from Leszno and Torun, brilliant stuff, plenty of decent racing from Leszno and the end to the Torun meeting was the one of the best I've watched for years. If it was like that every week I'd renew my subscription.

Valid point, but let's face it, once the Sky deal ends and the clubs cant afford to pay Holder, Lindgren, Doyle and a handful of others, the 2 divisions will be almost the same. But then again, if things are getting so bad at some clubs that JJ has to replace Bridger, then hopefully we'll end up with one division and an expanded National league. But then the riders wont like that due to lack of meetings, I could go on and on and on, but what's the point. -

If I was a betting man I'd say this was a dress rehearsal for the play off final, but the realist in me knows there's a long way to go. Just hope we can keep it close and keep the confidence high. -

Looking forward to the perrennial whingers coming on here later eating large portions of humble pie. Superb entertainment, plenty of passing from start to finish. And if a team has got a 2nd string who can score a max and beat Cookie twice, then things are looking very good. -

Who was your maths teacher at school? Unless of course we have a season of double headers, this would probably be a good idea as they'd only be enough riders for 4/5 man teams if we went to one big league. -

Good news for the poor sod that has to try and arrange cup matches and any future fixtures, must be a nightmare with all these riders doubling up. But can't decide if it's a good thing for us or not, on one hand Kyle and Sedgy will have to give it their all for the Witches, but on the other hand less income might mean less money spent on decent machinery. P.S. Just seen Kyle signed for Leicester -

Looking forward to this, Cookie in Town, a few showers during the day to give the track a natural watering. Only downside, Sarge is back, I don't blame him for trying to cheat, it's up to the people that run the sport to stop it, plenty of ways to do it, but they must think it's ok to keep fans standing around doing nothing while we wait for another restart. P.S. Certainly no team changes for me either. This team can do it!!! -
Sky used to get p****d off with the length of the meetings. No crashes last night and they still couldn't get 22 heats in on time. Ok, there was a few restarts, we all hate riders trying to cheat at the tapes, but the sport has done NOTHING about it, kick them out of the race and deduct 3 more points, that should stop them!! Speedway should be sucking up to BT after becoming (probably) the only sport to really p*** off Sky. Other sports embraced Sky and wanted to work with them to improve the sport for both parties, but Speedway just took the money and didn't invest a penny back into it, take, take, take,, and then there was nothing.

Mildenhall website still showing Kent next week, most other places are showing the yanks are coming. I usually believe a clubs website over others, but this is Speedway, so I'll wait until it gets confirmed on here.

Sadly cookie the horse has already bolted. Speedway has had a couple of chances for a new dawn, but they've been blown. Pointless looking to the future now, all they can do is try to keep afloat season to season. Unless of course you or someone else can come up with a masterplan for the future, but don't forget, you've got to tell us where you can magic a load of riders from first. -
Unlike most Witches fans, this result has filled me with confidence for the rest of the season. Edinburgh were one of the 2/3 sides I didn't think we would beat over two legs, but we obviously are capable. Just thankful all our riders got through unscathed, the track certainly has changed recently, even Erik Riss fell off last week when in the lead, so it's obviously a bit dodgy at the moment.

Let's look on the bright side, we've only had one decent race in the past 2/3 meetings and that involved Mr Masters, so more of the same please Sam. Whenever I get down about the fact that our league is now getting diluted, I cheer myself up by looking at the Rye House fixture list, meeting May 20th, then last night, then one more before the end of July, when they have 3 in 8 days. Div 2 isn't great, but it's brilliant compared to the other one!!! -

spanner47 replied to allthegearbutnaeidea's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Only problem with calling off meetings these days is, when you try and rearrange them, the chances are we'd lose some riders. Must admit I only looked at Masters and thought he'd be a lot better than who they had at No1 last time. Div 1 has had this problem for years, we've generally avoided it in Div 2, but with all this doubling up, it can only get worse. -

Great semi in Nagyhalasz on Saturday. Top 5 qualifiy Bartosz Smektala 14 Michael Hartel 13 Nick Skorja 12 Lukas Fienhage 11 Gleb Chugunov 10 +3 Eduard Krcmar 10+2 Jevgenijs Kosigovs 10+1 Victor Trofimov 10 Star of the show was Lukas Fienhage, kept us entertained all Afternoon, only a fall stopped him having a great chance to win it. None of us had him listed as one for the future before the event, but he certainly turned a few heads. What a track!! I'm no track expert, and this was only the 2/3rd occasion when I've walked into a stadium and thought to myself "this will be good", short straights, big bends it produced some great lines, also only a short run to the first bend so it was never a case of quickest bike wins. They hope to have a GP in years to come, if the GP circus was about Speedway and not money it would be nailed on, but I've seen the demands that BSI put on these places, so it will be a few years before they can get everything in place. P.S. spare programmes available if anybody wants one, just send me a PM with details. -

Racing was closer than last week, heat 13 was easily the best of the season. Track still a work in progress, just a shame we can't practice during the week and try various track options. Apart from Nathan's injury I thought we had the rub of the green a bit tonight. -

As you say,no sign of rain on any normal trustworthy websites. But there was no sign of rain at Sheffield tonight or at KL last night.
