  1. This weekend should be make or break for them, a difficult home meeting followed by an away meeting they should win if they've got any play off hopes.
  2. I was looking forward to coming on here half way through heat 14 and praising Sedgy for 8 paid 10, but that was a shocking mistake by our former (some hope) No4. Track was poor last night, far too slick and smooth, but I suppose with the forecast they couldn't make it too grippy. Obviously the main blame will be pointed at Sedgy, but we also blew it in heat 13, we gated on a 4-2 and somehow lost it. I can understand Erik going past Rory, he looked slow all night, by I don't expect our captain to be beaten from behind on a track where it was almost impossible to overtake. Real table. Glasgow +21 Sheffield +16 Ipswich +11 Edinburgh +11 Forget the rest (at the moment). Now the good bit, even with the long interval for the whip round, I was still home by 9-30.
  3. Cookie, you give the impression that you deserve special treatment when you attend Foxhall, wasn't the red carpet wide enough? Or have I read all the posts totally the wrong way?
  4. Looking at the fixtures for the rest of the season there isn't a date that suits all clubs. So the best course of action must be, ride it at the NSS when the fans can get there (Sat Evening or Sunday Afternoon) and then with the extra profit from a bigger gate, compensate the club that loses out as they've got to run a double header to accommodate the meeting. Or is that too simple??
  5. Very hit and miss forecast, plenty of showers about, you might not get one or you could get a heavy one, but that's bound to change in the next 24 hours. But unlike youknowwho, we'll make every effort to get it on. It'll be interesting to watch Erik Riss after his starring role on the telly last week, is he usually the type to shove his own riders in the fence? Or were those two incidents just a blip? I assume (and hope) the latter.
  6. Was amazed when they said this, they were obviously looking at a different forecast than the Berwick supporters.
  7. I know it's only a tiny minority of fans that have a go, but having a pop at CL is totally wrong imo. Always been very approachable and whenever me or anybody I know has sent the club an email, a polite reply has been received fairly quickly. He's one of the few promoters in the Country that has actually made an effort to improve things, twice the track has been changed at considerable expense, when it's cold he doesn't bother with an interval after some fans complained. We've seen how good our track can be V Workington, but they had a team of triers, sadly for some, he's put together a very strong side that most teams can't compete with around Foxhall. Buster or Chris, only a complete moron would want the former if the past few weeks is anything to go by.
  8. Not being a doom merchant, and I hope the rain stops and it's on. But am I right in saying that we've had a situation before here where the track is ok but the car park is flooded, or am I thinking of somewhere else?
  9. Is it confidence with Sedgy or has he got doubleupitis? Appears certain riders just give up so easy these days, being cynical i suggest their attitude is, why hurt myself trying to get a point, when i can earn 5/6 points for my other club tomorrow. Stay fit and take the easy money that is currently on offer over here due to a dreadful lack of riders. I'd probably do the same if I was in their shoes. Lets face it, how many opposition riders have REALLY given it a go at Foxhall this season?
  10. JC. Is there a clause in the TV contract? My understanding is they signed a five year deal in 2014, that means one more season of this nonsense. So another year of overpaid foreigners in Div 1, and average riders doubling up, but getting £?? a point more one night than another.
  11. Not to mention a brilliant track, I used to go there 4/5 times a season, well worth 170 mile round trip, wouldn't go there these days if it was just down the road.
  12. That'll have to be in the morning, then the cup final will be in the Evening. Seriously though, the promotion / relegation (Glasgow or Ipswich V Leicester) takes place on 2nd and 4th October. The final match that matters (at the moment) is Sept 16th, but that's at Workington, best laid plans and all that. That should give them the final two weeks in September to sort it out. What could possibly go wrong??
  13. There was a couple of moments when I wished they had a extra camera last night, but not too bad. Understandably they're doing it on the cheap, as it's a cheap 2nd rate sport.
  14. Looking at the real table it's Edinburgh you should be looking at, not Sheffield. Glasgow +17 Sheffield +16 Ipswich + 14 Edinburgh + 8 Redcar + 8 Boro, Worky and Newcastle all -2 But you've got a bit of a wait before their season unfolds, they go to Berwick and Scunny 2nd weekend in September, that will be make or break for them.
  15. Thing is Cookie, did your function include people standing / sitting around for 75-90 minutes with nothing happening? As said earlier, all promoters are just hoping to get through one season at a time, but what chance has our sport got when what happened at KL last night will just go away with no punishment, not helped by the fact that most of the idiots who were there will still go back for more.
  16. I think we could all get 3,000 people into Foxhall, just let them in for nothing one week. Lakeside tried it and got a fantastic crowd, but not many (if any) went back for future meetings, it was just loads of us having a free night out, I only went as me and the wife had flown into Luton that Afternoon.
  17. No I mean Sky, BT are showing it for peanuts, but Sky's agreement is until the end of next season. Well that's what I found out when I googled it. Would be lovely if the final payment was used to go towards things that would benefit the sport moving forward, but we all know where it will end up, greedy promoters and over paid riders. Unless of course form 2019 BT actually want to pay for something they can have for nothing, no chance of that!!!
  18. I'm led to believe that the Sky deal doesn't finish until after next season, so there will still be this joke division ( with it's crazy fixture list ) for one more year.
  19. Not the best of meetings, but got better as the night went on. But harsh to moan about the track as it was probably still under water in the morning. Hopefully Nathan S will make a quick recovery, certainly appears to be a season of bad luck for young reserves.
  20. I think he means heroes should be spelt like that. and days shouldn't have a thingy. But who cares???
  21. Weather gods are being kind at Foxhall again, 2 very wet days then speedway night comes around and it's dry. Missed Sheffield the first time so will be going tonight. I suppose we could be racing this lot four times this season, if Glasgow pick their nearest and dearest in the playoffs, then we'll (probably) meet again, and then sometime in the middle of October I suppose we'll meet again in the K.O. cup (remember that ?). Looking at the fixtures for the rest of the season, there's no sign of a K.O. cup meeting in either of the top 2 divisions mentioned anywhere. The joys of all this doubling up, arrange a new meeting? no chance we'll only have half a team.
  22. Would have taken a point before the start, as usual too many "ifs", but i suppose Danny's fall was the biggest deciding factor.
  23. Sometimes I think team managers change things to justify their existence. If they don't change the riding order then all they have to do is switch the odd reserve and pick the obvious riders for heat 15. Unless they actually can motivate somebody to get out of the gate quicker and make their bikes go faster, and I think we all know no manager has ever done that.
  24. Hopefully CL has mowed the lawn and got the mallets ready. MUST DO BETTER!!!
  25. Agree with Cookie, since Speedway has hit our screens my missus has never bothered to go. She used to be a big fan, but what's the point of forking out that sort of dosh when it's on the telly. If all meetings were like Vastervik (well worth £20) it might be different, but sadly there's too many meetings like that dross from Kings Lynn (not worth a fiver). As for this meeting, if we dont get 4 points we should take up croquet.
