Prices now coming down on viagogo, hopefully they'll be lumbered with a load, along with all the other touts. -
Warsaw Gp Saturday 18th April

Was away from computer all day yesterday, then just found this out. I'm sure the touts will have plenty, but having never been to a sold out Speedway event before, what will they be charging? I know it's a case of supply and demand, I suppose it's worth keeping an eye on ebay. But flight is booked, thankfully it's in the footy season, so if all else fails I watch that instead. -
I go to Foxhall hoping to be entertained. Gino, Cam (towards the end of the season) and Ritchie provided me with most of my entertainment last season, so I'm certainly happy with that trio. Hopefully Danny and Rohan will provide a good top end. Fingers crossed that CL can find another Gino, unlikely but you never know.
-
Didn't know that, does that go for teams that have a Swede who rides on a Thursday as well?

I thought this nonsense any money had finished these days, obviously not. Nothing has happened in the past couple of seasons that says we don't pay as much ( or more) than anybody else in this division. I'm led to believe that Mr Worrall doesn't ride for peanuts and the only time I've heard the phrase "my agent" used in Speedway was when he walked out on Lakeside. Last season fans were whinging about how many meetings Adam was missing, now they're whinging he won't be back, I don't want to watch a 3 point no hoper at No 7 when Adam isn't there. Not too bad if Danny doubles up, plenty of good choices to replace him. Can't be bothered to go back and see how many times that it was mentioned that Mort would certainly be in the side, just goes to show how wrong people can be. I'm sure CL will put together a decent side, but unlike Edinburgh last season, one the club can afford.I'd rather finish mid table and still have a team, than win it and go bust, because unlike Edinburgh we don't have Directors with big pockets to bail the club out.
-
For the past 3 seasons CL has gone out and got the best "available" No 1, let's hope It's 3rd time lucky, knowing Danny I'm sure it will be. As for the rest of the team? Don't really care as long as Gino and Cam are there.
-
More importantly, who's paying for the other 3 teams to get there?

Modlin is the best bet. When you get there walk outside and get the small local bus, this takes you to the small Railway station, then this line goes to the stadium, last time I was there it didn't stop at the stadium, that station (it appeared) is only used on event days. That info comes from my memory bank, so hopefully It's correct. The Ryanair flight from Stansted is currently £72, out early Saturday, back late Sunday. -

Flight (£66) and hotel (within walking distance of the stadium) booked. I suppose they've kept the ticket prices down to encourage fans to travel. Take out the VIP thing, cant recall getting best seats at a GP for about £20 for a long time. Don't usually bother with the first year at a new venue, but just got to see Tomasz's farewell. -
Had no intention of reading this waffle until after the BSPA conference, but currently bored at Vienna airport for three hours so I thought I'd have a look. As expected total waffle and as with every season nothing can be sorted and top riders can't be signed until we know what is happening with the elite league. When we know what is possible in terms of team averages and rider availability, I'll stick my oar in. But some appear to have short memories, Rohan and Mort were far superior than Richie for almost all of last season, but as Richie was a let down, his average now fits, how bloody unfair is this sport!!

Well done to the Monarchs, even with a decent Ref the best we would have got is 41. As for poor Gino, he's been great this season, and we love him. I just hope CL tells him to get to Heathrow tomorrow and go home and see his family, there's no point him staying here now, I know he's supposed to attend the end of season thing, but under the circumstances he should go home and give his babe a cuddle, and then come back next year and become a real star.

The play offs are always going to be the final meetings, cant really be any other way. It's the cup finals that should be earlier.
-
Call if off now, so we can have the 2nd leg. If that doesn't wash with the authorities, then we'll get Baldy and Bruv to kidnap Bob, I'll jump on the tractor after there's been a shower. I haven't driven one of those things for years, but that doesn't matter, I'll just chuck a blade underneath, totally ruin the track, and then we'll have to call it off. Nobody will suspect sabotage, this is Speedway and you can do what the hell you want. Failing that, I'll pray for lots of rain.

As there's nothing on any official website about what Edinburgh are doing about all their fixtures, I suppose we've got to take Bruv's (ever reliable) word that this is Thursday. So it looks like Edinburgh will get the 2nd leg in both cup finals, and no doubt the play off final. That seems "fair" to me! Apologies to Edinburgh if Ipswich and Peterboro insisted on having the home legs first, but I doubt we did. I was hoping the play off final would be this week, then we ride at Edinburgh of the following Friday with the 2nd leg (and a decent crowd) on the Saturday at Foxhall. I think an 8 point lead could be enough, we're stronger now and Edinburgh are a bit weaker than earlier in the season.

Sometimes I hate being ( almost) right. Well done to Somerset, good to see the two best teams in the final. Hopefully we can win the cup, quite fancy our chances. Hopefully I can be right again. -

I always get the impression it doesn't matter where you ride at the OTA, when that lot click into gear, that's it. Go out wide and they'll go under you, ride the white line and they'll go round you. I wont even get excited if we're level after heat 8, a few have managed that, but then it's 5-1 5-1 5-1 goodnight. -
It's always amazed me that Sky have never insisted on covers. Other sports where they put their money they insist on certain rules and stipulations, as soon as you get promoted to the Premier League certain things have to be done to make live better for them as well. But all the Sky money in Speedway has just ended up in the riders bank accounts, and the sport has seen no improvement whatsoever. I know that Speedway receives peanuts in comparison to other bigger sports, but each club has received a fair chunk of money over the past few seasons, and a few grand on some decent covers wouldn't have broken the bank. But that's Greedway for you.

You obviously don't listen to what Chris has come out with, problem is, he's just one voice and the old gits at the BSPA wont budge. He wanted what the fans want, the league cup finished early, but that didn't get through. Unlike some tracks he listens to the fans, we never get a pointless interval if the meeting is dragging a bit. You never hear him whinging about poor crowds, he's a realist and he knows that speedway isn't top of people's priorities anymore, but hopefully he'll keep it going, I cant imagine anybody else would take it over. Let's face it, who'd takeover a business when "breaking even" is the best you can hope for. Keep up the good work Chris, most of know we probably wouldn't have a speedway track without you and daddy. No doubt some fans would like a change for changes sake, but I'd rather have someone whose heart is in the club, better the devil you know than Mr Horton (or someone like him). -

My head says " don't be an idiot and go all that way to see us get stuffed", but my heart is saying " you've got a couple of holiday days left, why not?". I'll wait until I see the forecast then decide. But realisticly the rebels are awesome at home, even when Berwick got a good start a few weeks ago, the rebels just moved up another gear with a load of 5-1's. Anything is possible, but winning at the OTA isn't usually one of them. -
Nice one Baldy, I knew you couldn't resist starting one. Agree with other posts, but will wait until the BSPA conference before looking at this thread again. Far to many if's but's and maybe's, but as we all know the conference will just try and keep the elite league alive, they won't care about the damage it does to other clubs. The sooner the elite league dies the better for all of us, but while sky are chucking a few quid at it, the rest will have to suffer. So many simple ways of finding a balance that suits most, but that lot won't find it!!

Poor crowd??? Cant remember the last time I had to go that far back to park my car. Certainly over 1,000. I started to count when we were waiting for heat 1, but far too many for that. You put all those up in the seats where they used to be, and it would have looked very healthy. Or better still, put the whole crowd tonight on the home straight at Monmore, and Nigel would wet himself.
