Ipswich V Redcar 30th May

Sorry mate, just been through a load of meetings and cant find the one that you're on about. I've found one where Stefan had only 1 point and was replaced, but please point me in the right direction. I assume the meeting was still in the balance or you wouldn't have mentioned it. -

What's with this constant sniping over our new manager. All he has control over is switching the reserves, and choosing 2 riders for heat 15, B M had absolutely nothing to do with the way the team rode on Saturday night. Phil has got his selections spot on for heat 15 all season, a couple on here have suggested (with hindsight) a couple of reserve switches he could have made, but with our current reserves form, that's easier said than done, you don't know what you're going to get with those 2, one race they look very good, the next they cock up. Phil, if you read this nonsense on here don't take any notice, the comments from some on here aren't reflected on the terraces, well certainly not with the ones I stand with. As I've said on here many times, when Wolves are near the top, they tell us what a great Manager Peter Adams is, but when they're near the bottom they don't say he's crap. It's all about the riders!!! -

After a couple of poor meetings and poor performances this was excellent. We've been whinging about the track, but tonight it was spot on, not many tracks you can pass from heat 1 - heat 15. Love the way Gino can get so much out of the inside line, even in the last race when the dirt had moved out. I'd love to know what the score would have been if the race stopped at the first bend, very close I'd imagine. So great entertainment for the fans with so much passing. But I suppose a cynic might worry about our gating against a stronger team, but sod that, let's just enjoy the fact we actually got £16 worth tonight, and not many Speedway fans around the Country can often say that. -
John Cook Talks A Lot Of Sense

Sadly, here we go again. We know the sport is dying, but those with a vested interest just plod along hoping for the best. What other sport in the World can you still get away with cheating? It would be so simple to stop these rolling starts, but nothing has ever been done. Obviously that's just one of many things wrong with the sport, but others have mentioned those. I consider myself to be a keen follower, next few weeks I'll be at Veenoord, Riga, Diedenbergen and Sibiu, but apart from popping up the road to Foxhall, I certainly don't bother with any other Speedway in this Country anymore, and even that is trying my patience these days. -

20 years ago I'd have certainly agreed, but the FA Cup final is well down the list of things to watch these days. Most of the teams can't be bothered with it, so the fans do likewise. Hopefully Arsenal will be 3 up at half time, then the odd fan that might have thought about what to do, will come to Foxhall. Going back to the track, I agree they've got to try and make it grippy early on, then the track will still produce some decent racing later in the meeting, just hope they don't go over the top with the watering this time. -

Not getting excited over this result. There appears to be 3 whipping boys in the league at the moment, so to make up for that defeat at home, we've got to beat better teams than this at home, or we wont be making the play offs. Appears Rohan only turns it on when he feels like it, I wanted him back as I thought this could be his season, but clearly I was wrong. Nice to see no one is having a pop at Phil this Morning. -

That's a bit better. Nice to see 5 out of the 6 getting a win. Hopefully that'll boost the confidence of certain members of the team. -

Surely the riders will be busting a gut tonight. After going out of one cup, they'll be a few weeks where they don't earn any money if they fail. -
The way Rohan was going into the bends last night, there's no way anyone would have team rode with him. He was all over the place, not sure whether it was his arm problem or he didn't like the track, but Danny was right to clear off and let him do his own thing.

If he does, then he should know better. I'm sure the riders want a consistent surface. -

Firstly, well done to Berwick. But why is Bob producing a track that certain riders don't like? If he persists with this type of track, then we should do what Lakeside do and have a junior meeting beforehand. After 6/7 heats it's perfectly ok, and only Rohan continued to go into the bends like a novice. Once the track settled down there was passing on the inside and the outside, I admit if it started like that it would slicken off towards the end, but at least our lot should have built up a lead by then. You are not going to change the mentality of certain riders, so give them a track that they want, not what you want Bob. Apologies to Bob if he'd been instructed to do this, but as we talked about tonight, the track is at it's best when it's rained all day, and he hasn't been able to do his "magic". -

In the unlikely event anyone on here is thinking of going to Tampere next season, just one tip. Buy the cheapest seat and sit anywhere you want. Before the event the cheapest seat was 55 euros, but on the day this was reduced to 50. I've been to numerous stadiums around the World and sometimes ended up with a better seat than what I paid for, but never has the cheapest ticket got me into the most expensive seat, there's always a steward checking the posh seats, but not here. So either the Finns are very the trusting, or they just don't give a stuff. But I didn't complain, obviously I still didn't get value for money, but I'd have been very narked, had I been stupid enough to pay full whack. -

Just driven up from Helsinki. Through the Town to the stadium and onto our hotel. Had it not been for the floodlights being on, there's no way you'd have known there was anything going on here tonight. -

Fair comment, but I've been to Finland for the past few seasons to watch other meetings, and compared with Denmark prices are quite reasonable. I just thought they'd be a bit cheaper to attract the locals that don't usually go. 90, 70 and 55 euros for the cheapest is certainly dearer than I expected. I admit I could have brought cheaper by booking early, but without knowing the forecast that wasn't a sensible option, at least now I can buy the cheapest as the forecast appears ok. -

It's not often the BSPA come up with a good rule, but the decision to call a meeting after 10 heats, and not give fans any sort of a refund is a good one in my opinion. Certainly makes my mind up, any threat of rain, stay at home!! -

Ditto, can't believe it hasn't been called off. Unless of course the weather is very different 8 miles up the road from where I am, been raining steadily for 3 hours here. -

Be interesting to see how many tickets have been sold. Was horrified when I saw the price, but as I'm going I suppose I'll have to pay it. Just hope I'm in the right place at the right time and someone has got some spares and is trying to flog them cheap, happened before so you never know. I'm fully expecting to be watching this in a (almost) empty stadium after last year. I assume the only fans that will be travelling any distance will either be, A, those that have to go to every GP. B, those that have to "tick" every track. Talking of "A", heard about some chap flying to Melbourne, out Thursday night, arrive Saturday Morning, watch meeting, come home Sunday. Dedicated? mad? or sad?, option 3 for me. By the way, I fall into category "B", which many will say is just as sad, but at least it gets me around Europe when there's no Football to watch over here. -

I can't believe the riders were refusing to ride because of the track, we've seen far worse and they've got on with it. If it was the track then surely they'd have spent more time working on it, but all the time was spent trying to get the tapes to work. If they were complaining about starting with a light then they should all be heavily fined. If 20 F1 cars can stay completely still until a light says go, then surely 4 blokes on bikes can. Hopefully this will be remembered and the guilty riders will NEVER be considered for a wild card again. And the fireworks weren't that brilliant either, for those that just happened to be in the right place to see them. Apart from that, we had a very nice day. I'll still be going to Oz, but more for the meetings at Mildura and Gillman, a bit of sightseeing and hopefully some footy and cricket chucked in, then if we get another joke at some one off track in a super stadium, I won't really care. -

Danny and Rohan looked classy, Rohan's heat 15 was superb. Reserves were both excellent. Hope Gino is ok. Cam looked sluggish. I assume the Captain isn't fully fit yet. -

spanner47 replied to Super Blue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
But as we all know, for some obscure reason fans generally flock to Foxhall on a Good Friday, even though the racing is usually the worst we get all season. Probably down to the fact there's not much else to do. Be interesting to see the affect that clashing with the football has on the crowd, hopefully not much as fans should have the time to do both. -

When I went out to the garden at 19-00 and the wind was blowing a good un, I said I'm bloody glad I'm not at Foxhall tonight. Certainly the right decision, they're running a business and hoping to make money or at least break even. Not many tracks can survive on diehard supporters alone, and when the weather is crap, the 2,5,10 times a season punters certainly stay at home. For the past few seasons we've got meetings on when others wouldn't have bothered, but what's the point of making the extra effort when you know the crowd will be crap, hopefully we've learnt our lesson, weather crap, call it off. -
According to someone much closer to the club than me, Gino's 4th place the year before is good enough. I didn't think it was. but he's been assured it is.

Wouldn't say there's any mud, but they cant tell you what they don't know. Just a case of wait and hope. Both qualify, but there are other issues, both appear fairly minor. When I say minor, they sound minor to me, but if it was my job to keep immigration figures down, and I could find an excuse to stop people coming in, then I'd find any excuse.
