  1. I'd imagine CL does most of that, but I think the sponsorship we get is as good as most teams. Sackers, Seven Asset provide good deals, plus all meetings appear to be sponsored. It cant be easy to get companies to part with their money when there's only 700-1000 people there, so how on earth clubs that struggle to get 600 get on, I don't know
  2. Hopefully CL will run it for another year or two, can't imagine anybody else wanting to take over. It was mentioned through the season about how many tracks really struggled with attendances this season, obviously down to all the usual problems that have been stated on here numerous times before. So guessing at teams for next season is pointless, I'd be very surprised if cost cutting wasn't top of the agenda, let's face it, Speedway never looks at the good guys who run things properly and break even or make a profit, they feel sorry for the little boys and drag the rest down to their level. As for next season, I'll wait until the AGM, but as all others have mentioned, no Rohan until he learns how to control a bike when turning left, would also love 7 riders that can ride a grippy track, but there's not much chance of that.
  3. Fully agree Shads, those were the 2 meeting where we blew it, trust Cookie to have his only bad meeting at Foxhall when it mattered. At least I'll save a few bob over the coming weeks.
  4. Injury to Jakobsen was the deciding factor, but as Bash says, a bit naughty of Rye not to try.
  5. People keep going on about "in form" Plymouth, but since July 1st the only away win has been that freak result at Somerset, failing to get a point at Redcar and Scunny doesn't suggest to me that they are an "in form" side, maybe just better than they usually are at home. So us Ippo fans should be fairly confident of a couple more meetings, come on you Rockets,
  6. I'm sure our 2016 thread will be on here before the Weekend is out, Balders must be chomping at the bit to get it started. Looking at the opposition Plymouth have got to face, It's not looking good. As for our final meeting, obviously just the 16 lapper, most Premier league promoters have struggled to break even this season with proper meetings, so there's no chance of a gimmick meeting attracting a crowd.
  7. Totally agree, fans are just getting fed up with Speedway and It's silly rules. They don't like the fact that our No 1 rides for someone else sometimes, the club would probably be dead had it stayed in the other league. Every year we've put together a decent side, but certain riders haven't lived up to expectations. Certainly not about money either, we've gone out and got the best "available" No 1 for the past 3 seasons, also persuaded young Aussies (which I'm sure others wanted) to come to us. But sadly Rohan, Gino and Cam haven't progressed, injuries to Cam and Gino have certainly slowed their progress, or maybe (like many other riders) they get so far, and that is that.
  8. Some changes? We all know what speedway does when there's clubs losing money, they dilute the sport even more and that drives more fans away!!
  9. I doubt you'll get many arguments there. But they had decided to have this competition done early this season, but the Northern group didn't get finished on time, and as usual in this hapless sport, nobody did anything about it. When I asked why we had a blank week 3 Months ago, I was told it was reserved for the league cup semi's. But only CL and the menial promoters and most supporters wanted this, so it had no chance from the start, well certainly not under the current regime.
  10. On current form I'd fancy our chances against Glasgow, IF we get there.
  11. Poor opposition = poor meeting. Some have mentioned 6 man teams to save money next year, if it means the likes of Kopopka don't get a ride, it could be a good thing.
  12. The problem when Benny Bonkers rode for us was, CL liked to produce a track that was grippy on the inside early on, then the dirt would move out. Poor old Benny never could get used to this, he'd miss the gate in his early heats, go wide, and just go backwards. But it's different now, there's an outside line from the start, so BB should be ok. I preferred the track as it was, but only a couple of our lads could handle the grip, so now It's a lot easier to ride.
  13. He as certainly a bit special on his last visit to Hoddesdon, I'm sure the locals thought it was a "super" performance.
  14. If I had a wider vocabulary, I'd say our season is at a bit of an "impasse". Never thought my season could be over in August (except for Melbourne and Mildura). But can't make next week and I don't bother with the 16 lapper. Our hopes of making the play offs must have improved with Rye House signing the "superkid". Just hope we end on a high, and hope Plymouth fail in their attempt to catch us. But who really cares? My thoughts are in a Polish hospital at the moment, and not at Foxhall.
  15. Not a bad Evening's entertainment. Shame we couldn't get the 4 points to put more pressure on Plymouth, but when you've got riders like Gino and Rohan attacking the 3rd bend like they're riding a huge track in Poland, then you drop points. But all round we deserved it, just hope No's 2-7 turn up for the Rockets when Plymouth are in Town.
  16. All gifts gratefully accepted, we need them to scrape into the play offs.
  17. That would have been a very valid point until we changed the shape of the track, It's "ok" these days. But after watching some awful crap from compost corner in the past 2 seasons, I can confidently state that Ipswich is longer the most boring track in East Anglia, our friends over the border have now got that accolade.
  18. A statement echoed by many other clubs I'd imagine. Good rider, but certainly prone to the odd hiccup when it matters most.
  19. Just hope the result goes Felixstowe's way in the afternoon. then I might not be minus 2 mates come 21-00 tomorrow night.
  20. What's the water situation at Dry House these Days? Looks like a scorcher during the day, do we need to bring our own to throw on the track? Or just wear dust masks? Only joking, I assume the dust problems are just for Afternoon meetings, well I hope there are. After watching footy in the Afternoon, I'll be bringing along 1 or 2 who haven't been to Speedway for decades, it had better be good.
  21. Well done Redcar. Just hope Nico and Danny are fully fit for Saturday. Nice to see Cam and Rohan looking sharp.
  22. Well that's convinced me to go, (depending on tonight's results) COME ON YOU BEARS!!!
  23. Don't usually bother about other results when I'm at Foxhall, but the score from Redcar will either finish our season, or (hopefully) extend until Rye House on Saturday.
  24. I'm sure CL will try to get the best available, just hope there's a few choices. Can't understand why some fans say about "cheap guests", I wouldn't call CC and RW cheap. As we've got plenty of time we should get someone reasonable, but Stef's average isn't great, so it wont be easy to get anyone special.
