  1. I assume we can't use our place the following Thursday (World banger thingy at weekend), so we need to get our meetings done quickly if possible. But as we know from experience, if one club are awkward when it comes to sorting out a fixture, it's our friends from Edinburgh. Not always their fault, but Ippo fans with memories will know what I'm on about. Monarchs website says play off, to be confirmed
  2. I assume Ipswich are also there next Friday, seems a bit strange to have a double header, if Edinburgh lose they'll have plenty of spare dates to fit it in.
  3. If Hans rides in Rybnik tonight and the BSPA are still OK with Lindback signing then the sport sucks and COME ON WOLVES, but if the injury is genuine and he doesn't ride, then good luck to both sides.
  4. What were the rumours at the track about AJ's replacement? Will they go for a big one like Poole? Or just do the sensible option and stick with guests that are suited to the tracks?
  5. I wish we had a chance of visiting a "local track" in the playoffs. From my house, Edinburgh/Glasgow 820 mile round trips, Newcastle 602, so hoping we meet Somerset for a local derby at a mere 500 mile round trip.
  6. Not stirring it, was just really surprised you accepted not getting into to play offs without riding your last meeting. I'm sure the Ippo fans would have giving CL all kinds of stick had it happened at Foxhall, not that it would have done, as CL cares about the club and isn't about to walk away, even though I'm sure he'd love to if someone came along with an offer.
  7. You P'boro fans have been saying how great your promoter is, if any other promoter had denied his own fans a chance of reaching the play offs (albeit a very small one), he would have been slated. Not having a full side to go to Edinburgh is sometimes an advantage, your current 1-7 would have been hammered, but you do what others do, get the right guests and give yourself a chance.
  8. Surely your best hope of the play offs is to send your expensively assembled side and go to Edinburgh and win. I can't believe the BSPA won't force them to ride you before the deadline. Would mean the league is a total farce if they don't.
  9. Looking like a 5th place finish for us now, so V Edinburgh is the most probable outcome (weather permitting).
  10. Just noticed Workington have 2 difficult home meetings to come, so still hope for the others to join Ippo in the play offs
  11. Great performance lads. By my reckoning the real table now looks like this Workington +5 Ipswich +4 And outside the play off positions Sheffield +4 , but with poor points difference Peterborough +3. So in theory, we have to beat Newcastle at home, then match whatever Sheffield do at Rye when we go to Newcastle. Hopefully Rye will do the business, and a win on Thursday will seal it for us.
  12. Spot on Scotsman. How many false starts did we see in the Olympics? They don't try to cheat as the punishment fits the crime. I got so p****d off last night, I left after the 2nd failed attempt to start heat 14. There are many ways to stop this, but no one seems to care about the fans who have to stand around for ages while they mess around.
  13. Hotel booked up North, but there's a threat of rain so not bothering, found a game of footy so that'll do for me. Any thoughts or putting Speedway first wasn't helped at Foxhall tonight, how many restarts? When will the idiots that run this sport sort this out, my patience is running out, but they won't do anything about it, as that would make the fans happy. Anyway good luck to the lads in their attempt to get four points.
  14. Can't see young Robert making it. Isn't Vetlanda a gaters paradise and generally reckoned to be the worst track in Sweden?
  15. Initial thought is a big fat yes. I've only ever spoken to a Promoter once about the value of loan fees or full transfer. It worked out a transfer would be the value of 5-6 years of loan fees, so it's always a bit of a gamble from both sides. But we don't see many big transfer fees paid these days, so maybe the value of transfers and loans have changed a fair bit over the years.
  16. Will be for us as well then, we don't ride them until the 18th. With P'boro being so bad, us Witches have got to start worrying about Workington getting above us in the real table as they could also pick up some easy points when they go to P'boro.
  17. After reading all the various advice on here about getting BT for free, I went down the semi honest route. Borrowed sister's password, put BTgo on my laptop then brought HDMI lead and fed it straight to the telly. Works perfectly.
  18. Latest real table Som +19 Glas +13 Edin +13 P'boro +10 Newc +10 Sheff +4 Worky +2 Ippo 0 We've got a better points difference than Sheffield, so a 4 pointer tonight will put us in 6th
  19. Not too sure why you think the P'boro V Newcastle match will help us Badly. Surely the only team we can catch is Sheffield, unless of course you've based your assumption on the fact that P'boro could lose a couple more at home. I don't want Newcastle to get too confident at the moment, as it looks like we'll have to go there and get a point, if we can get 4 at Redcar. All irrelevant if Sheffield get anything from their away meetings or we don't win tomorrow.
  20. The table remains the same then. The best hope we had of making the play offs was to hope that Sheffield slipped up at home to Somerset last week or Edinburgh tonight. That didn't happen so now we need 5 points from our remaining two away meetings, and hope Sheffield don't pick up anything on the road. Unlikely, but you never know. I made the right decision to stay at home tonight. 2 reasons, Workington are rarely worth watching away from home, and I'm really falling out of love with the sport, when they sort out the messing around at the start then I'll start going again. There's usually more false starts in one meeting these days than we've had in the whole of the Olympics, why? because in the Olympics the punishment fits the crime, in speedway it's worth trying to cheat as you get another chance.
  21. I can I can see where you're coming from Baldy, but we're 4 points behind Sheffield in the real table with Redcar and Newcastle to come away. I'm allowing for the fact that Workington never win away. Only snag with my hope of us scraping in is, Sheffield's best hope of a point is their last meeting at Rye House, and last time we wanted that lot to do us a favour they let us down big time. Hopefully it won't be a case of day-jar-voo (as they say in Essex).
  22. No one has ever accused me of that on here before, the only Glasgow fans i've spoke to were bragging about their millionaire owners. A promoter told me last season they had agreed to sign a rider until moneybags Glasgow came along and offered him stupid money. Nothing wrong with it, it happens in all sports, I was surprised you got upset just because I wrote what everybody knows.
  23. I doubt we could have competed with moneybags Glasgow to sign BB, but probably wouldn't have gone for him after he was fairly average last time, but he's certainly doing the business now.
  24. So our very very slim hopes are still very very slim, but at least when we go away we put up a fight these days.
  25. I hope the decision to replace Priest in wrong heat doesn't cost us too much. No way Joe was getting anything in heat 10, should have saved that move for heat 14.
