  1. Fair comment Balders. But most track curators never get it quite right once the weather turns. Getting the right amount of water in appears to be the problem, it doesn't dry so quick when it's cold.
  2. Is it worth preparing the track just to screw up one rider? Reading what the Glasgow fans have said, it didn't work for them yesterday. If we go with Connor at 7, I cant see him handling a rough track, he kept falling off when it was fairly smooth. Having said that, Danny, Ben and Nico should like it.
  3. Well, I suppose if the Rebels can win at Glasgow with Rohan having a stinker, what's the chance of us fighting back? We'll need very bit or luck going. 1, Nico has to start the meeting as he usually ends it. 2, they get a crap guest at reserve and we get a good one. 3, Rohan has another stinker like today 4, Ben rides a lot better than he did at Rye last night Etc etc etc Clutching at straws? Let's face it, we need a bloody miracle! P.S. Can Bob not do his usual track grade during the interval if it's close, almost impossible to pass after his done his bit, it gets far too smooth.
  4. As it's so late in the season, were refunds offered last night? I know it's not the norm for clubs in British Speedway to hand out refunds on the night, but I'd have thought it would have been the right thing to do for those that wanted them.
  5. A view shared by most Witches fans I'm sure. Hopefully the lads will all turn up and ride their bits off.
  6. Let's look on the positive side. There's no way the No 2's will repeat those scores. Our reserves will do better, that should get it closer. Then all we need is Nico to start better and you never know. But on the other hand, defending a big lead should be within the capabilities of the league winners.
  7. Unless Danny can beat their big boys in 11,13 & 15, we're in the wotsit.
  8. Bad enough winning the toss and taking 1&3, but then 2 of them wasting gate 1, grrr.
  9. The biggest thing to sort out is, why is the product not as good as it used to be? Is it the way tracks are prepared these days? Or the power of the bikes? I loved my first visit to Workington a few years ago, same can be said for Redcar and a few others, but subsequent visits have been a let down. I used to be happy to drive 80 miles up the road to Kings Lynn, but wouldn't these days I wouldn't walk down the road to watch what's on offer there. Good luck to Workington in finding a solution so they can keep going.
  10. I'm sure all the Promoters would vote to keep them. Love them or hate them, they're here to stay. Look at the crowd at Belle Vue on Monday compared to the rest of the season. Most clubs are struggling financially, only hope of a decent crowd is a local derby ( preferably in good weather), a cup final or a play off. Ipswich don't have a local derby anymore, so once we were out of the cup, the play offs were our only hope of keeping the Bank Manager happy. Hopefully we can keep the score to a reasonable level tonight, then we can look forward to two big meetings on the next two Thursdays.
  11. Oh and Jacobs needs to get back to his form of 6 weeks ago He looked good tonight, thankfully. I'll settle for ten down after the first leg, anymore could life difficult.
  12. Fully understand how you're feeling, I think I'd be as gutted if it had happened to my team. We all know guests are a necessary evil, but it must be hard to take when your season ends against a made up team like that.
  13. Never saw that coming, but amazing what you can do with right guests. As an Ippo fan, the team I most feared meeting was Newcastle, hopefully Sheffield can find a few guests that love Ashfield too.
  14. Now we're all aware of the two line ups, can Wolves pull it off? I honestly feel if all 7 ride to the best of their ability they can.
  15. I can't believe he would have done, but it does seem that he would still have picked up a slight strain or something similar during the meeting. I used to give Ford the benefit of the doubt, and admire the way he always manipulated the rulebook in his favour. But like the rest of the Nation, I be hoping Tai and Co all fly tonight, this is just one dodgy injury too many.
  16. Forecast for both tracks look dodgy at the moment. Will sky wait until the Morning? If forecast gets any worse, call them both off and ride next Monday would seem the obvious solution.
  17. Just when BV think they've got a chance of keeping the Bank Manager happy, they get a bad wewther forecast. After the PR disasters at the NSS this season, surely only the die hards will go anywhere near the place. Hopefully not enough rain to call it off, but enough to keep occasional visitors away. Just hope they get better weather for the final, and can fill the place for that.
  18. Excellent post jenga. But whenever clubs are in trouble, the BSPA's answer is just to dilute the product even more and not listen to the fans who have stopped going. I thought our sport stood a chance when i heard about Buster's masterplan for next season, but sadly this didn't suit everyone so it appears to have died. We've all been saying it for years, for our sport to survive ( and then progress ) we need an independent body running it, but because of greed and self interest, that will never happen. Good luck to Workington in finding another owner, should Laura call it a day.
  19. I suppose if you're going to be left with 4 riders, it's just as well it's the best 4 you've got.
  20. Lucky old Edinburgh, had it not been for our reserves falling off when in good positions we'd have easily hit 60+. Great performance from all our boys, bring on Somerset. Edit. Forgot to mention, can we have Mr Bates every Week, meeting started at 19-43 and was over at 21-01. That's the way I like it.
  21. Also at the end of my tether after 45 years. I don't want to be at a stadium for over 2 hours (it's 2016 and most of us have busy lives), 90 minutes maximum unless there's a serious injury. But the 3 main things 1, stop this messing around at the start! 2, stop this messing around at the start!! 3, stop this messing around at the start!!! It's getting very tedious, doesn't appear to be a problem in other Countries, so it must be our rules and refs are too weak. Obviously getting rid of Chris Gay would be a start in that department, refs like him seem to get pleasure seeing riders burn out clutches.
  22. After what was said before Thursday's meeting, I thought Perks was the only 3 point option of any standard. Certainly not much else about, unless someone knows different.
  23. Hardly the promoters fault if a rider cries off with flu a few hours before the meeting. No promoter or rider is going to go the extra mile for a pointless meeting.
  24. Scotsman, it may have escaped your attention, but it rains very other week up there, let's get this meeting done and dusted before the snow comes.
  25. Surely if Edinburgh don't arrange the play off for 23rd then hopefully the BSPA will step in and tell them they have too. If only to dispel the theory that Speedway is run in this Country for the benefit of Poole and Edinburgh.
