According to my maths the Kings first set of averages will be as below: Boxall 8.84 Compton 6.28* Morley 5.80 Coles 4.25 Woods 3.00* Kingston 3.00* Kirby 3.00 Total: 34.17 * only raced 3 league meetings so no new figure yet. Knight and Mason could fit individually if swapped for a lower order rider. Pros for Knight are he is the younger man with more potential and a lower average. Cons are that he could quit the sport again if things aren't going his way. Mason would be committed but I still suspect he wouldn't sustain his 7.32 starting figure. Either will improve the side and take the pressure off the top 5. Whatever does happen I'm sure it'll be in the best interests of the Kings.

What a disgusting post. What do you expect from a speedway forum? It'd be boring if we all blindly followed the sport and our teams. British Speedway is amazing, nothing is wrong with it. Rye House are amazing and can finish bottom whenever they like because they try and they're nice guys we'll still throw money at them on a weekly basis... I'd suspect Shadders has spent more time and money on following and watching the Rockets than yourself over the years Rob so it's not a good piece of reasoning to use when telling him how bad a fan and person he is. I shall bow to your superior knowledge though because I wasn't there in 1999, I was still in primary school.

Blunt answer is that he's not good enough. I like Ben but he's too inconsistent at NL level at present. Stand out man in the NL without a PL spot is Charles Wright and I'd have doubts if we moved for him going by his previous PL record. Hopefully Garrity is near full fitness!
-
Use the higher of the last PL average or EL figure converted so he'd come in on a hefty 11.95.
-
Ability dictates an average so your point is invalid and just another gripe about the Kent side. The title of the post is Rye House 2013 so maybe lets talk about that as opposed to negative views on a completely different team? Lambert had to go, he tried yes but results weren't coming. If we sign Ben Morley in his place its not the right way to go as likeable as the lad may be. If Garrity is near fitness then the team will take on a whole new complexion.

You can ride over our camber (see Woffinden and Frampton) you've just got to have the minerals. It's not strategically placed for any reason it's just there.

Rye House V Somerset Saturday 29/06/13
Ben91 replied to BossMan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not been for a few weeks due to other commitments, missed last night because it would have meant throwing good money at a loss. We won because Somerset only had four riders lets make no illusions about that. Perry usually rides well at Rye and would have been good for 4/5 points at least. Agree regarding the comments about number 8's and ambulances. Not having a number 8 saves money perhaps but on occasions like this it short changes the public and can cost a team points, make them obligatory. We are going to find every track having to have an air fence next year. Why not make sure every track has two ambulances too. -
Not sure what anyone was expecting, it was a poor line up from day one. Smart has had one injury too many. Chessell has been around a while without making great strides. Reade has potential. Hughes has a kid now and hasn't looked the same since he had a horror smash when he was a Rocket a few seasons back. Priest had a bad injury yes but that was a long time ago now and there's no room for sentiment when you want to win, he's never going to get better. Payne looks like he's going to go far from early showings. Tedham may improve but he's not got time on his side. I like Stoke and seeing them drop into the NL was sad, there was supposedly going to be a PL return after a few years in the NL but that looks highly unlikely now unfortunately. Hopefully they will turn the season around and enjoy some success.
-
Doesn't mean a thing with regards to if he can or can't double up, he'd just have missed most of Stoke's home fixtures. When originally announced it was as a doubling up rider but the average rule meant he had to leave Stoke. Same would apply to Boxall.
-
He can't ride in both leagues simultaneously due to his PL average being over a certain threshold which I believe is the 5 point mark, possibly 4. That's why when we signed Simon Lambert last season he had to leave Stoke.
-
I can't recall his EL average ever being over 4 excluding bonus points, could be wrong though. As for where he stands with Kent I can't see them letting him go. He is their talisman now and the best man in the NL. Food for thought also is that next season he would be on an average from his last 24 meetings with us in 2011 in the PL and could be eligible for a 2.5% average reduction as he spent this year in the NL which could be lower than his present PL figure. I'm not 100% this would be the case but at first glance it would appear so and I've not got the time to work out what that average would be! I'm not suggesting we write of another season but that scenario could be in the thinking of Len...
-
No need to clarify, everyone is entitled to an opinion. Personally I think he'd be a gamble on that average regardless of where he came in to the side though.
-
Would have taken Kling over the winter, dodged a bullet big time there. Looks like a Sitera/Tomicek (will get the same average whatever league he races in) type rider.
-
Could sign Roynon and bring Garrity back in place of Lambert without getting rid of Allen. Olly hasn't been a bad performer for us, we can use guests to cover him adequately home and away. The problem doesn't lie at number one and Klindt is too much of a gamble when we don't need to make one at the top end.
-
Come Saturday Luke will have been out of action for a year and entitled to an 8% average reduction so would be on a shade over 5. Don't think he's the answer this season though on the comeback from a serious injury. As I said previously Garrity and a couple of 6 pointers would leave the two Jasons at reserve, just what we need fire power at the bottom end.

Changes needed and soon. Get Lambert out. Kasper too but on good terms, we can pick him up on a 4 point average in a couple of years when he's a better rider just like Edinburgh did with Katajisto and Tabaka. With those and Mear's points we have around 16 points to play with, bring Garrity back in we have 11/12 and can sign two solid middle order riders that will leave Garrity and Bunyan at reserve. Get Nelson some decent kit and he'll fly coz he's a wasted talent if he's not winning races as he has shown he can. Apologies for the duplicates! Bloody phone.

Ipswich V Rye House (premier League) 20th June
Ben91 replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I have to admit I get very bored reading most Ipswich threads (petty squabbles, Elite League attitudes, trolls etc), so do you think you'll win every home match by 20+ or just against us? We're in shocking form at the moment so it could be a real hammering for once. -
Coventry Storm V Kent Friday 14th June --7.30 Start Not 8pm
Ben91 replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
It's his 5.69 PL average from 2011 doubled I believe Derek, if he'd missed last year injured he'd be allowed an 8% reduction I believe but as he chose to sit it out, no such luck! -
Compton didn't seem to want it in his last season at Worky. If he's up for it this could be an inspired signing by Glasgow. Should well live up to the average he is coming in on, maybe even better it in a struggling side. Surprised that he's not signed for the Sheffield variety of Tigers as they could do with him on a 5 point odd average.

Coventry Storm V Kent Friday 14th June --7.30 Start Not 8pm
Ben91 replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
Riders like Ellis and Lambert starting on three point averages is an anomaly indeed but they're young British lads, let them do it! Boxall is coming back to the sport with a reputation that proceeds him from previous campaigns unfortunately. However he is riding well for Kent, saddled with a very high average but he seems to want to do well and is prepared to graft for it. Kent have given him a great chance to get back onto the Speedway scene and he is still relatively young. -
I spoke to Jacob earlier this year, said he's too busy to do PL with all his other commitments. He's got a lot of potential so if he's reconsidered that'd be a great move. He'd be on a 5 point average though, leaves a lot of scope.

Rye House V Newcastle (premier League) 22nd June @ 7pm
Ben91 replied to Shadders's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Can't make it, think we're gonna be taken to the cleaners. Shame I'll be missing Robbo round Rye again, how we could do with him now.
