  1. What a farce. Feel for the Glasgow fans, they had to put up with watching us in the first place and now both teams are decimated. From a Rye perspective, why are we 1) letting our asset Luke Chessell race against us and 2) why are we using Benji Compton as a guest for Luke Bowen at number 2? Get a proper guest in we have a chance of getting an away win, there has to be better options available to us. If we don't win tomorrow we might as well pack up for the year.
  2. It's not unfair at all. I've stated fact. He beat Woffinden in one heat yes, that is not out of the question. It it also fair to say Woffinden has been somewhat out of sorts domestically this year, regardless of the fact that he went on to win the meeting. Put two riders together enough times on track and the worse rider will eventually win, that can happen on their very first meeting. To prove this point, on the occasion he guested at Belle Vue for Birmingham at number two he beat Scott Nicholls in one race, Nicholls finished last in that heat and Garrity third. He scored two points in the entire meeting. Nicholls was unbeaten until that point. I was not trying to point out that he has not beaten any top riders in the league at all and nothing I said should have led you to making that conclusion. I was highlighting the fact that he has not been beating second strings on a consistent basis and I am right in stating that. As Coventry's top reserve he has more than likely raced top riders as a R/R or reserve replacement at times too but he has not on any of those occasions beaten those top riders as I have listed above ALL the riders he has beaten in opposition teams that are second string or above.
  3. Being generous in saying Klindt. The progress he has made so far since he joined Rye House would have carried on this season IMO if he'd just been riding for us and he would be a 7/8 pointer in this division but he's had his head turned by taking pocket money off of NL riders in the "EL" this year.
  4. It amazes me that people think he is pulling up trees in the EL even. Lets have a look at the riders who he has actually beaten in the EL this season other than his team mates and his fellow draft riders, most of those he should be beating anyway considering he was one of the highest graded. Nicolai Klindt - PL 6/7 point man, on par with Garrity. Richard Lawson (2 times) - PL 8 point man, where Garrity should be this season anyway. Dakota North (2 times) - PL 6/7 pointer. North was a non finisher when Garrity beat him at Coventry 9/5. Simon Gustafsson - EL 6 pointer. Ty Proctor (2 times) - Riding pants this season, his PL average shows that. Garrity should be beating him. Nico Covatti - PL 6/7 pointer. Richie Worrall - Having a poor season, Garrity should be on par with him. Michael Palm Toft - PL 5 pointer. Scott Nicholls - Beat him guesting for Birmingham at Belle Vue. Jacob Thorssell - EL 6 pointer. Ricky Wells - PL 6/7 pointer. Nick Morris - Morris was excluded when Garrity beat him on 18/8 That's 12 , a majority of whom Garrity is on par with. Not exactly setting the world alight. This shows he's picking up the majority of his points from NL riders. Apologies from swerving off the actual thread topic.
  5. The last few years I've believed our side should make the play-offs and we've fallen short (by a long stretch mostly!) but we all want to believe our own side can do well before the season starts. Our team is gash as Paulco says, I'm the first to agree on that score. As a nation we shouldn't keep bringing overseas riders in to get them "bargain" averages for the following season, the rules allow it to happen so it does but it shouldn't be so. If an overseas rider can't attain their assessed average on track it is not unreasonable to suggest that they should start the next season on that figure again. If a British rider can't hit his assessed 3 point starting average then he doesn't get to start on his real figure the following season so why should riders from abroad get the privilege of being able to drop below their assessed average?
  6. Because half their rides are against NL standard riders who they should be beating easily anyway. Garrity riding for Coventry has had a negative impact on his scores for his parent club. If he hadn't been handed to Coventry due to his high grade in the flawed fast track reserve system and their rubbish season last year I doubt he would have even been on any EL clubs radar for a reserve berth. He should be riding for Rye House on Saturday night regardless of what the rules may say.
  7. If he was on the pace he would have scored more points. Good idea to get him a nice low average so he can ride at reserve next year though rather than a young British rider who is also just starting out. I'll not comment any further on the attempted patronisation in your post. Josh Grajczonek's first three scores: 6+1 away at Edinburgh. 3+2 at home to Berwick and 10+3 at home to Edinburgh. Terrible compared to Palovaara you'll agree. Also riding in his first three meetings for Glasgow at the same time as Grajczonek was Mitchell Davey, another rider who managed to be given chance after chance here and never amount to more than a reserve. His first three scores? 0, 3 and 4+2. Aaron Fox is another not good enough to be in the Premier League, not many riders who come over are. Simple answer should be that these riders aren't given a real average until their exceeds the assessed figure they are given. Substantial fact is his average after 3 meetings in below 2 points, I'd be surprised to see it much above 4 before the season is out.
  8. More likely whoever is in charge at the kart track and that will be curtains for speedway at Rye House.
  9. Another local second halfer in that case then, can't blame the Bandits promotion for not letting him race against them to be fair! We never seem to make an effort to find guests for northern away meetings. If Sarjeant or Hopwood aren't available then we just use local juniors.
  10. Don't need to see him to know that scores of 0, 1+1 and 4 are pony. He'll get nowhere near his assessed 7 point average.
  11. So Hawkins for Luke, R/R for Anders, wouldn't be shocked to see Farnaby and Carr in the place of Boxall and Garrity.
  12. He can't be any worse than Palmolive and he's your number 1!
  13. Another sub standard foreign import. Or Joe Jacobs.
  14. Not at all, his fitness is a reason undoubtedly but that doesn't mean there aren't underlying issues elsewhere which will have contributed to him getting out while he could.
  15. Wouldn't be surprised if there is more to Anders' departure than has been let on. Will be a gamble on a 7 point odd average next year if he wants to come back. We need to sign someone, we're woefully weak as it is, add R/R in we may as well be in the NL. Anton Rosen and Dakota North are two names that could fill the void reasonably so don't expect them to sign. Can see Mattress or Nielsen being re-signed or a Kent rider coming in.
  16. Rolling averages calculated over 24, we've got 9 left and he's already raced in 10 this year for Scunthorpe and us so he'll have a much more realistic average for next year assuming he completes the season.
  17. Anders' average will drop no doubt while he gets back to full race fitness this season. Have him, Kennett and Greenwood back along with 4 newcomers.
  18. Hope it goes well for Adam and he can have an injury free run, if he does and gets given time he can be a 7 point man in this division without a doubt. It will take time though. Richard Hall isn't an inspirational signing that will help win trophies, he will do alright at home and nothing away, except at Sheffield if Peterborough have still got to go there. Dilger... Yet another rubbish foreig rider given a ride here when he's proven that he's crap on the last 30 occasions. In place of a British prospect too. Shocking.
  19. Why does doing the updates make you any more qualified to comment on the state of the track than another supporter who had paid to watch the meeting?
  20. Was going to go last night but getting home late from work, coupled with the fact that I'm not parting with £20 plus to watch a team who have nothing to ride for already this season put paid to me attending again. Next year? I'd take Kennett back but he needs another heat leader to support him. Anders to slot in as third heatleader, no higher at the start of the year. Greenwood in at reserve. That is a reasonable starting point.
  21. The ins and outs of the strength of Scunthorpe's side and what the National League is there for in terms of developing riders etc can be discussed in length here and on every other thread in this section of the forum until everyone is blue in the face and there will still not be one comprehensive answer. I will dare to put forward a suggestion however, one that I am pretty certain is the correct one too and that is simply that the Kings didn't use their number eight even when the meeting was settled because they are in the midst of a battle to qualify for the play-offs, a battle which may well come down to race points difference. The points they gained by using other 1-5 members to take Simon Lambert's rides as opposed to a number eight could well be the difference between play-off qualification or the end of their season come the cut off date.
  22. No, he wasn't. He may not be everyone's cup of tea but Scott Nicholls is far better suited to racing in the GP's than Bomber ever has been because the bloke can make a start. I'm not saying he is a GP standard rider btw but he would do better than Harris IMO, especially around temporary tracks like Cardiff. Back on topic, Emil is one of the top 4/5 in the world, regardless of the GP standings and he is missed from the GP series, he will be even more so when Hancock and Pedersen call it a day. Imagine a GP series with Emil, Tai, Ward and Holder slugging it out at the top end. That is what Speedway fans want to see.
  23. That was the meeting which the Rockets didn't want to race because of unsafe conditions and Len Silver told them rightly not to risk themselves if I recall correctly. We used Karlis Ezergaillis as a number 8. The next year we went back to the County Ground for the last ever league meeting there and won it to wrap up the league title. Robbo got a paid max and Shaun Tacey dropped only a point or two guesting for Chris Neath.
