  1. What would be the point of that? Kennett's PL average is a point higher.
  2. If a 15 year old was killed on a speedway bike it would cause just as much of a stir. Len Silver tried to get permission for Rob Lambert to race for the Raiders when he was 13/14 but it was denied despite the fact he was clearly ready for NL racing.
  3. He'd probably earn more riding PL and scoring a hatful every week than in Denmark. Plus aren't Danish meetings run on a Wednesday? Lambert can do another year in the PL and I'd be surprised if he doesn't. That wouldn't stop him chasing a GP spot through the qualifiers.
  4. Doubling up is limited to two seasons again now, perhaps Ed might want another crack at EL full time. That'd pave the way to bring Lambert in and Eddie could always come back for the 2017 season. Preferably I'd have both and NBJ though. The long tail would be worth it. Especially if we can find a decent three pointer. While it may not be ethical I'd like to think the promotion are talking to the riders they want to retain now the league campaign is over and telling them that the lower their averages are for next season the better.
  5. With the majority of racing siblings the younger one usually turns out to be a better rider.
  6. British youngster, great prospect too. Let's saddle him with a high assessed average and alienate him, then if he reaches his full potential Germany can benefit from it rather than us. Great idea. Spiller is 17, he could have raced in the NL for the last two seasons but for one reason or another hasn't, now he has come over and he has made a highly encouraging start. Any NL side could have gone in for him, Kent included, but did they, who knows? It's not as if he has been under the radar either, he won the 250cc World title a few years back if i recall correctly.
  7. Anyone serious about riding in Poland, and I'm pretty sure Lambert wouldn't approach it half assed, would have bikes for both countries. Just gotta be on a plane himself and there's no issue.
  8. Chessell would be a heat leader in th NL if he stayed on the bike more often. Certainly got scope for improvement next season again too, the Raiders would do well to keep hold of him.
  9. There is someone in place to run the team though. Len Silver. Silver is the one who said the stadium would change week on week this season, not Scott if I recall correctly. I'm not expecting major changes to the facilities to happen until the winter and hopefully along with that we'll track a decent team next year.
  10. Would signing Lambert be worth it if Maassen is part of the package? They appear to be good mates, Maassen's presence could be a draw for Lambert at Rye? Think we could be looking at something like Kennett, Lambert, NBJ, Kasper, Bowen, Branford/BWD, Maassen. Would leave a long tail but that's a powerful top three.
  11. The same way the Young Shield used to work in the PL? Makes sense IMO, the top team is the best team over the season, therefore the Champions.
  12. It's a strong line up with a lot of home interest as well as a couple of Brummies which will bring Birmingham fans through the door. It's hard to call a winner from that field.
  13. No. We threw away a qualification place in the League Cup and we were only at the right end of the league early doors because we'd had more meetings than most other clubs. Injuries came and the wrong signings were made. We got lucky in the cup because Berwick capitulated and we'll be found out in the next round. And in English?
  14. I remember my first beer too. Times change and Silver hasn't changed with them. Simple. Past is past and at present we're pony.
  15. Lambert has probably missed more meetings for Peterborough than NBJ has missed for the Rockets due to other commitments this season. Would love to see Lambert at Rye, a top three of him, NBJ and Kennett would leave us with a very long tail though.
  16. People need to stop suggesting one big league it's a horrendous idea. The simple, simple answer is that the EL needs to go to one race night and use squads. If tracks cannot race on that night then tough, drop out of the EL and race PL. There are plenty that could commit to racing once every fortnight at home on a Monday. They do when Sky are in town. An eight team EL, no B fixtures, just fourteen league matches, then play-offs. How do you fill the empty dates? Run an NL side. Help the future of British speedway. People who want their fix will go to watch NL meetings and have to pay less to get into them too. The one race night in the EL would help the PL too as teams will be able to track their full 1-7 every week because there will be no fixture clashes. British riders will be able to ride in both leagues and that will benefit our riders and our nation's chances on the world stage too. The answers are there but people are too scared to upset an already rotten applecart.
  17. NBJ would be my only definite to retain at this point. Now he is an asset Kennett will stay I think, he's a proper number one so there can be no complaints about that. If NBJ carries on as he is Kennett might not even be at number one next year. Of the rest I'd keep Kasper on the right average. Mellgren has never kicked on as he should have, yes he's had injuries but we can't keep bringing him back to average six. Boxall, no. He's had far too many chances now. Robin is too inconsistent. Maassen shouldn't have been signed in the first place. Luke I'd like to see lead the Raiders side. I'd like to see us make a move for Branford as our bottom averaged rider. If he is enjoying his time as a Raider it isn't inconceivable he would be willing to swap Edinburgh for Rye in the PL. If we have the powerful top two of NBJ and Kennett we can certainly build a team to challenge for the title and if we don't then it would be an outrage.
  18. The side with the highest scoring reserve pairing will win this. Branford v Bowen in particular is the key battle.
  19. Think Bates is one of if not the most over rated British rider about at the moment. Rye have a history of making average reserves look like world beaters around their home tracks. Remember Danny Warwick scoring almost 20 for Berwick against us round Shielfield Park one year, of course though he did go on to win the world title didn't he. Garrity is a good rider and will develop further no doubt but only to a point because his attitude seems to leave a lot to be desired.
  20. I see Len seems to be complaining about fans having their own opinions in the local press again too. Maybe for once he should listen to the people paying their way to watch the team each week rather than tell them they're wrong constantly. We won at Berwick yes but they seem to be a team in crisis at the moment. What I've noticed in press releases this year too is an acceptance that we are going to go to away tracks and lose. As a travelling fan you don't want to hear that despite how true it may be. He may have been when he was at Sunderland but times change and if you're good at your job you will change with them.
  21. FWIW I don't think he's much better, if at all, than the likes of Ellis, Branford, Clegg etc. If he is going to ride as a Brit he shouldn't be held back from riding in the PL, James Sarjeant has competed in the NZ championship before and wasn't saddled with a five point PL average.
  22. Ten years ago, doesn't seem possible. The good old days!
  23. In which case he should have started the NL season on a three point average and be eligible to guest/ride for a PL side on a three point average too.
