He'll find a team, otherwise the whole EL will be stuck for guests.

Peterborough Panthers V Rye House - 12/9
Ben91 replied to Flappy's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Only reason I can think of is that we've got nothing to race for and the more points Branford gets the higher his average is going to be for next year. Also, I'd not go anywhere near Morley next year on his 4.5 figure, I don't think anyone sane would. If he has a few bad meetings then his average may suddenly start to look more appealing. -
He's fourth in the Eastbourne averages, the NLRC is each team's number one and the next four highest averages in the league. Perks isn't anywhere near being in that four.

Should be a NL only guest surely? -
Raiders V Buxton Mon 29th Aug -late Afternoon

I think Hume would have progressed just as well as a Raider as he has at Birmingham. It is such a shame that we will miss out on his progress after handing him his debut last year. Hope he makes a very good career for himself, however it would have been better had that been at Rye from a selfish point of view! -
Mildenhall V Rye Raiders Sun 28th Aug 3-30 Pm

Good to see the Raiders keeping it close. It's going to take time for Hunter to get back into the swing of things. Hopefully five points and a heat win will give Locke confidence going forward and he can score some more consistent points. -
I'd have Robbo back as an experienced second string and head in the pits. Not a heat leader though. Branford is a must, especially if his average stays sub-four. Of course though as a Redcar asset we'll probably be held to ransom. I'd only retain Morley if there's a two Brit reserve rule, on an average of almost 4.5 he's too much of a gamble for me. Kasper has had plenty of chances, he's reached his level. He might be entertaining but he's inconsistent and there are entertaining riders out there who will be more consistent. The rest can go too. Happily take NBJ back on that average.
-
Agreed, Worrall and Garrity are the only two there that would be EL riders now without the fast track scheme. Starke has been knocking around for ages and only really kicked on towards PL heat leader level this year, his scoring improved dramatically after he started getting FTR appearances so if he hadn't he may well still be a 4-5 point PL reserve now. Ellis undoubtedly would have got there on his own but it's hard to judge as he hasn't had a PL ride since 2014 when he averaged around four. Bates definitely wouldn't be getting EL rides yet without the draft.

Plymouth Vs Rye House 19/08/2016 @ 1915

If the rules stay the same regarding doubling up for next year he'll have to choose EL or PL anyway. Big changes needed to the team. -
I remember my first beer too.

He's a Redcar asset isn't he? Expect a transfer saga wherever he goes in that case. Kennett could have been at Plymouth last night, awful guest choice too. We're lucky Robbo was in inspired form. -
There are plenty of riders around, there's no need for six rider teams. The current race format is fine too, to move it in line with the horrible one used in the EL now would be to shoot ourselves in the foot. Two British reserves is a simple way to go, perhaps have an experience limit (year's racing league speedway) rather than an age limit. Otherwise riders like Ayres and Payne will be frozen out despite being relative newcomers to the sport.
-
All teams should start with two British reserves, no average limit. If they move up the team order during the season then fine. They can only be replaced by British riders. It'd stop a team having to sacrifice a young Brit like Edinburgh had to with Branford last winter and could happen to Edinburgh again this season as well as Rye with Morley/Branford.
-
What would you say the grade is Waco? There are a lot of riders who mature later in their careers of course, look at Charles Wright and Paul Starke, both integral parts of the Somerset team that looks set to beat all before them in the Premier League this season. They both spent a long time in the NL, with a few spells in PL sides, not making huge waves before it clicked for them. Danno Verge looked like he'd never amount to anything while at Scunthorpe and last season at Kent, this year he's scoring solidly for the Kings.
-
Raiders were above Coventry in the pecking order on averages, only missed out because Coventry are the hosts, would make sense to include them now.
-
A rider riding for his team in the higher league is no joke, it's exactly how it should be. Kent would be foolish to not book a guest for Ayres, they've pretty much got pick of the bunch.

Berwick V Rye House Ko Cup 06/08/16 7-00pm

I'm sure this was originally supposed to be the league meeting so Rye would have been at Berwick tonight anyway. -

Building site aside that's no different to the Silver era. -

This Somerset side looked pretty poor on paper at the start of the year. A move has done Tungate good by the looks of things. Allen and BWD were definitely gambles in my eyes, again they've paid off so far. Fair play to the Rebels, they're gonna take some stopping. -
It may host an extra GP, such as the European GP in some seasons but the organisers of the series would want shooting if they decided to swap Cardiff for Belle Vue.
-
It's about striking a balance, but if you don't cater to the future audience then there won't be an audience in the future. If you don't like a bit of noise then why would you choose to go to a live Motorsport event? But let's just carry on playing the Nolan Sisters and Hi-Ho Silver Lining at a barely audible level in between heats, that'll get new fans in and keep them hooked.
-
Yeah I hate it when announcers build atmosphere at meetings and when music is played between heats instead of deathly silence. Let's not try entertain the next generation of supporters, let's carry on as it was in the seventies and eighties because that's still working so well...
-
Pretty sure they were there together, plus Compton has raced for Buxton in the past too.
-
Because since he had an average over four he got worse. He may not have the PL NEG next to his name on the greensheets or whatever it is supposed to say but the rules state that a rider who has previously held a PL average of over four is not eligible as a NL only guest in the PL and Davey has held an average of over four.
