  1. If Sedgmen was still in the team we'd not be where we are now. The point regarding Harris and Barker as a partnership is still very relevant I'd say.
  2. I think Poole are still in the driving seat but we could pip them. It'll need a good performance on Thursday at Lynn, I can't see us taking anything from Belle Vue. And then we have to take maximum points from our three remaining home meetings. If we're in the play-offs we can win the league, simple as that. Though I think we might be found out at reserve away from home. I'll be delighted if we did go on and win the whole thing of course but a team finishing mid table shouldn't be winning the league. Time for a rethink regarding play-offs for next year.
  3. It's not the same Rye though, we were running R/R and a rubbish guest. And Leicester had three guests and R/R too. That said, I'd just be happy to reach the play-offs, then it's anyones game.
  4. How will I sleep tonight knowing that a rider was slightly rolling in heat one of a challenge meeting.
  5. I'd say more people will avoid Poole. It's on TV and the admission isn't reduced by that much. People wouldn't have to pick and choose had we had consistent home meetings earlier in the season mind.
  6. I always thought Linus would kick on to be a top, top rider. His time at Rye was more impressive than Tai's imo. Would happily see him back next year, hope the promotion have noted that he's looking to do open meetings over here later on this season. Neathy around Rye was majestic. Took the track record using an unorthodox line and generally was in a class of his own at home. Looked like he was finally going to become an out and out number one the season before his career ending injury.
  7. Adam Ellis wasn't part of my list because he is one of the better youngsters. Bates is progressing perhaps but still isn't anywhere near the level of some of his Polish/Danish/Swedish contemporaries of the same age.
  8. There was a list just as long five years ago of riders who are now floating around the Championship or still in the NL even. Perry, Clegg, Morley, Branford, Morris, Greenwood, Kerr, Sarjeant, Nielsen, Jacobs, Knight, Bates etc. Unfortunately for me that isn't making it. Things are improving however and there are a few here and there that look like they could, with the right attitude and application, push on and be going into the GP qualification rounds in the long run if not further or shock horror actually get team places in Poland and Sweden.
  9. The lack of good racing and one line during Silver's era is a common misconception. There was always an outside line and a cutback on bends 3/4 possible while off of bend two riders could use the camber to perform a cutback or the ballsier ones (Jordan Frampton sticks out in my mind as a rider that did this) would ride right on the edge of the point of no return on the camber and find dirt wide on the exit of bend two. There is room for changes to the track's shape to make it a better race track, perhaps this should be explored. I'd take better racing before (however not at the expense of) any other aesthetic changes to the place personally.
  10. It's been time to stop doubling up for a long time. It is no longer a tool to help young Brits progress up the leagues, more just a way for riders to compete in both leagues to make riding pay. Riders should have one club here (unless stricter rules for youngsters only being allowed to double up can be put into place) and if they can't compete full time as a result of that then they'll have to get a job away from racing to help pay the bills/fund their racing.
  11. Harris and Barker shouldn't be in a pairing together. Kasprzak should be getting seven rides, we're still just about in the mix for the play-offs, it could realistically come down to race points difference.
  12. Let's just hope nobody farts in Norfolk or we might have a wind off.
  13. Which is relevant to Kent v Lakeside how?
  14. Leicester's current team has only two riders who don't double up and one of those missed this meeting injured but rode in Poland the week before and the day after. Doubling up is one of the many nails in the coffin of British Speedway and at the moment it's being driven home hard.
  15. Good win for the Rockets, we have to immediately move on to the next fixture and win that too however. While it's nice to go to the biggest club in British Speedway at present and win it isn't season defining or a hugely memorable moment if we don't kick on from it. While achievable the play-offs are still an unrealistic target imo. It'll take something very special to beat the feeling of winning the last ever meeting at Exeter to clinch the 2005 Premier League title 12 months after being humped 75-18 at the same track.
  16. Not surprised it's absolutely chucking it down.
  17. Really. It's a poor side. They've got riders who do alright at Rye but they shouldn't be beating us at home. Particularly with KK at reserve.
  18. No way should this Kings Lynn side should be troubling us at home.
  19. At the end of the day we're a Saturday night track. It shouldn't be hard to organise all meetings for a Saturday night and to keep that race night consistent with meetings every week or with a minimum gap of one week between meetings. Is the disjointed fixture list (even more so than it has been in past seasons) worth it to have Harris and Nicholls in the team? I'd personally say no.
  20. Comparing the line ups we should be handing out a heavy beating. In reality a win is a win though. Weather has been hit or miss in Hoddesdon for a couple of weeks now, looks pretty overcast at the moment.
  21. Fair play, more fool him on that score then.
  22. Truth being told Sedgmen has been rubbish this year, he shouldn't be complaining about getting sacked it's part and parcel of his job. The way he's reacted on twitter is immature and unprofessional in equal measure. The league would survive without Australians, would they be able to break into Europe without the British leagues though? Probably not. At the moment there seems to be a lot of riders being hard done by because they can't make a living without two clubs or they got sacked because they weren't performing. So what, it's killing the sport in this country. If you can't make it pay then get a part-time job. Speedway isn't a popular enough sport to be professional anymore here I'm afraid and if you've been sacked then look at yourself rather than whining about it on the internet. There will always be riders of some standard, there won't always be fans however if things carry on as they are. If I was an Ipswich fan I'd be mightily annoyed that changes were blocked then Kings Lynn changed the best part of their team the following day.
  23. A real statement of intent with KK's signing. At worst he should do better than Sedgmen, at best he could have a couple of good meetings at reserve and be the best rider in the side. When he moves up we are going to always have one of Robbo, Barker or Wells in a reserve slot. With foreign riders not dropping below four point averages it was always going to be Morley as the replacement for Rob once KK was signed. Will struggle away but pick up points at home.
  24. The deadline is looming, wholesale changes are needed if we want to make any challenge. Can't see it happening unless they've already been agreed. It'll be a straight injury replacement for Branford. Wells and Sedgmen would ideally make way as well as Rob's points to sign a two pointer and two stronger main team riders.
  25. Can't beat a library atmosphere at Speedway.
