Poole Vs Rye House Thurs 10/8/17

Good win for the Rockets, we have to immediately move on to the next fixture and win that too however. While it's nice to go to the biggest club in British Speedway at present and win it isn't season defining or a hugely memorable moment if we don't kick on from it. While achievable the play-offs are still an unrealistic target imo. It'll take something very special to beat the feeling of winning the last ever meeting at Exeter to clinch the 2005 Premier League title 12 months after being humped 75-18 at the same track. -

Not surprised it's absolutely chucking it down. -

Really. It's a poor side. They've got riders who do alright at Rye but they shouldn't be beating us at home. Particularly with KK at reserve. -

No way should this Kings Lynn side should be troubling us at home. -
Rye House V Leicester 2nd August 2017

At the end of the day we're a Saturday night track. It shouldn't be hard to organise all meetings for a Saturday night and to keep that race night consistent with meetings every week or with a minimum gap of one week between meetings. Is the disjointed fixture list (even more so than it has been in past seasons) worth it to have Harris and Nicholls in the team? I'd personally say no. -

Comparing the line ups we should be handing out a heavy beating. In reality a win is a win though. Weather has been hit or miss in Hoddesdon for a couple of weeks now, looks pretty overcast at the moment. -
Fair play, more fool him on that score then.

Truth being told Sedgmen has been rubbish this year, he shouldn't be complaining about getting sacked it's part and parcel of his job. The way he's reacted on twitter is immature and unprofessional in equal measure. The league would survive without Australians, would they be able to break into Europe without the British leagues though? Probably not. At the moment there seems to be a lot of riders being hard done by because they can't make a living without two clubs or they got sacked because they weren't performing. So what, it's killing the sport in this country. If you can't make it pay then get a part-time job. Speedway isn't a popular enough sport to be professional anymore here I'm afraid and if you've been sacked then look at yourself rather than whining about it on the internet. There will always be riders of some standard, there won't always be fans however if things carry on as they are. If I was an Ipswich fan I'd be mightily annoyed that changes were blocked then Kings Lynn changed the best part of their team the following day.

A real statement of intent with KK's signing. At worst he should do better than Sedgmen, at best he could have a couple of good meetings at reserve and be the best rider in the side. When he moves up we are going to always have one of Robbo, Barker or Wells in a reserve slot. With foreign riders not dropping below four point averages it was always going to be Morley as the replacement for Rob once KK was signed. Will struggle away but pick up points at home.
-
The deadline is looming, wholesale changes are needed if we want to make any challenge. Can't see it happening unless they've already been agreed. It'll be a straight injury replacement for Branford. Wells and Sedgmen would ideally make way as well as Rob's points to sign a two pointer and two stronger main team riders.
-
Can't beat a library atmosphere at Speedway.
-
It'd be a straight swap for Branford I'd guess. Better than signing Morley but can't gate for toffee.

The lack of consistency of meetings is a real bugbear. I attended a couple of meetings early doors this season and thought I had the bug back. The disjointed nature of fixtures however soon made me realise why I began to fall out of love with the sport. While it was quite obvious to the fans that the rebranding of the leagues was no more than mutton being dressed as lamb there was some small cause for hope. But we have the same issues as before. Doubling up in abundance, fixture clashes, suspect rain offs, weeks between meetings, rules being introduced during the season (the revised points limit), the list goes on. It is the 'Elite' League in all but name in reality. Next season we need two things for a start at Rye House, meetings on one set night of the week (ideally across the whole division) and the return of the Raiders side to fill weeks where there is no Rockets fixture. Doubling up needs to be scrapped, if the riders can't make the sport pay without having two teams it is tough, they'll have to take up jobs outside of the sport. That is a time when we need to look at Speedway in this country as a whole and say it isn't a professional sport anymore, maybe one day it can be again but nobody is owed a living from it. There will always be riders to fill team spots, there won't always be fans to watch if things carry on the way they are going IMO. Rant over. Not aimed at you Oafski, just general thoughts! Ekberg's signing won us the league in 2007 undoubtedly. Signed as an injury replacement after Ray Morton and Robbie Kessler had tried to fill Robbo's boots and fallen far short of the mark.

Rune Holta rode for Poland after riding for his native Norway. Rory Schlein is now racing as a Brit having represented Australia internationally. It means nothing of the sort.

We should have kept him last season. Looked the real deal in his season with us in 2015, almost achieved his assessed seven point average that year which isn't heard of very much. We should have tried to find a way to accommodate him this season too at the start and with the averages changing from today seeing some riders dropping more points from their averages we should have tried to find a way to get him in the team if he was available to come over and race for a Saturday night track.

Niels-Kristian Iversen 9.04 Matej Zagar 7.48 Peter Kildemand 7.10 Tai Woffinden 7.03 Antonio Lindback 7.00 Two Pointer 2.00 Two Pointer 2.00 Total: 41.65 If that's the policy it is a bad one when looking to win the top division title. There are certain riders to avoid of course that are based abroad but if handled right (like we did when we had Linus originally) then it can work.
-
No, it isn't ironic. Rain on your wedding day is ironic. A free ride when you've already paid is ironic. Good advice that you just can't take is ironic.
-
Exactly, of course money means it won't happen but if someone wanted to go for the s*** or bust approach it would be legal as far as I can see going by signings made elsewhere.
-
Rutherford has been around for ages and is a NL reserve still.
-
We're seeing riders signing for Premiership clubs on old Elite League averages too. Teams were built to Premier League averages pre-season. Swindon have a bargain in Musielak while Lahti could prove to be a bargain at Poole too. There are plenty of riders with existing EL averages that could come into teams on those figures and make a mockery of them for sure in this league. For example a team of Iversen, Zagar, Kildemand, Woffinden, Lindback and two two pointers could be assembled within the points limit now if old EL averages are to be used.
-
The right changes can get any team into the play-offs at this moment. Hopefully the management won't be afraid to pull the trigger.
-
Signing him would be a mistake, using him at Swindon as a guest was a mistake. He's a good rider to have at home but away not so much. We need to bin Wells (or Barker or Sedgmen) and sign another heatleader and a two pointer to replace Rob if we are to stand a chance of the play-offs imo.
-
Gives us over eight points. I worry we'll just replace Rob with Ben Morley and keep it as it is with the rest of the team.
-
I'd bin Wells and sign Linus Sundstrom on a 7.22 (Poole have used Lahti's last EL average so we should be able to use Linus') and a two pointer to replace Rob.
-
In the National League. Once bitten twice shy and he was bobbins when he guested for us on a track he's done plenty of laps on earlier in the season.
