Dutch & Belgian News 2009
Ben91 replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in International World of Speedway
Mon the Jessie!! -
Sorry, there is no other answer here than the simple one. Rico was droped from the Peterboroguh squad, it gave him a kick up the backside, he gets his chance back in the side last night and gets 17 point because he knows he has to do well and is not irreplaceable. Think Button this year in F1 or Becks in the England football team. The bloke has the talent that is certain, he just has to apply himself a bit more and he could still do a lot in this sport.

Kings Lynn Track Prep

Personally I think it is simple. If we had gone into the meeting with Nicholls, Richardson etc, riders who, with all will in the world have reached their level and are on the way down if anything. We would still have finished third, putting ourselves in the same situation we are already in. The way it has been done however has helped our up and coming lads get valuable experience at one of the highest levels. Come the run-off, we probably will see the older guard back in, whether this will get us to the final or not is debateable, if I was in charge however, i'd stick with the young lads, let them have a go, who knows what they could do.

Kings Lynn Track Prep
Ben91 replied to Mitchell Brothers's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Ridiculous post completely 1.) The track was Peterborough, not Kings Lynn. 2.) GB had no home advantage, the GB riders don't race for Peterborough every week. 3.) Oh and hang on, perhaps he was asked because his team's manager is also in charge of the national team. PS: You only need to use 1 piece of punctuation, three question/exclamation marks don't make the point important. -

True, doubt i'll make the trip but have a lot of faith in Luke, could be our top man on the night if he picks up where he left off at DP -

As Joe Haines is still declared his average must be used, taking us above you, well thats the only reason I can see, good to see Lukey getting a run out in a "prestige" meeting, don't think he's had one before, not even a CLRC when he was there. -

Shows that he can mix it with PL reserves at least, no mean feat, could be a spot somewhere perhaps? Well done to Bugeja though, he seems to be a 100% trier from what I have seen of him, could well have saved his team place, however could have been different if Swales had not withdrawn lets not forget. -
U-21's At Rye House 17th May
Ben91 replied to Blazeaway's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Should be a very good meeting, looking at the line-up. Wuffy, Bridger, Mear, Haines, Ward, Smith and Wells should all be up there, look out for a Pole to come good too like Zengota did last season, wouldn't surprise me if one sneaked in. -
Sayfutdinov Or Sajfutdinov...which Is Correct?
Ben91 replied to andout's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Sayfutdinov, look at his website -
Would be good for sure, but a cautionary note, once you have subscribed to Setanta, they are a bugger to cancel. I had a free month's viewing on a freeview box which you had to claim once you had cancelled your subscription, which I did, got my months free viewing then they started to take money again, so I have had to cancel the direct Debit and have a logn converation with a man from Setanta about whether i meant to cancel or to quote him, was it "an error of judgement" anyway rant over, but beware

Any in Britain which has hosted speedway but now shut down that i haven't been too, with special mention to Wembley, Trelawny, New Cross, Hackney and Hyde Road i'd say.

Pairs Meeting @ Peterborough
Ben91 replied to Shadders's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Putting my money on Zabik and Tai -
How about a World Cup every four years. 1.) Adds Prestige to the event. 2.) Could be run in one nation over two weeks. Qualifiers take place in the three non World Cup years and are done 1 via location and 2 via seeding, very much like the football world cup. Format would take some adjusting but it could work.

Ace Of Herts
Ben91 replied to Shadders's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Ah right, coz surely they would want their money back as its taking money under false prentences... Part of me wants him to come back but i don't want to see him hurt again. -
Ace Of Herts

robbo has had a benefit meeting and would have to give back the money from that and the fundraisers held for him i suspect if he wanted to make a full comeback -
New Year Classic
Ben91 replied to hawk's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Not at all, a decent crowd for a meeting at Newport could be just what it needs for prospective buyers of the club to take the plunge, the event won't be the same at Poole either and i hope once Newport is back up and running the meeting will revert to it's true home. -

Sounds a good idea, but its the CL 4's on Saturday night and we have to put a team out for that. It could still be done on the 25th though. Rockets 1.Tai 2.Aldridge 3.Mear 4.Strudwick 5.Bowen 6.Day 7.Franklin Cobras 1.Neath 2.Smith 3.Allen 4.Robbo(if available) 5.Halsey 6.Nick Laurence (or Andrew Silver! had a few laps Sat and Sun, didnt look too shabby) 7.Cottham. Would make a fun, close meeting to wrap up the season and including Robbo and Silver would also be a draw for fan i'm sure. Would also be a good chance for the Confence boys to measure up to the premier league lads. Tbh with the Ace of Herts being on the 18th i am disappointed as 1. I can't make it as i am going to a party. 2.We will STILL have a free weekend where we could have some form of meeting on the 25th. and 3. The Cobras would have a strong chance of winning the 4's with Mear and Halsey included in the side along with Aldridge (Stoke track should suit him) and Smith. I will hopefully be going to the Pairs at Peterborough on the 24th now to see Robbo in action, for my 1st visit to the Showground and my last taste of action in 2008. -
C L R C @ Rye House
Ben91 replied to DragonsDen's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I'd Like to see Lawson win it or Rob Smith or Danny Halsey. Personally, Lawson because he is 22 and although he has MotoX experience he is a newcomer to the sport and it shows that if you have natural talent it doesnt matter how old you are whne you start as for Smith, he has been riding really well at Rye for the Cobras and deserves a title
