  1. No "mini-debate" just a lot of hot air from you trying to jump down someone's throat because you aren't agreeing with them (Par for the course.) I didn't state what I said as gospel did I?... The words "it seems" should really have indicated to you I hadn't completely digested the Hawks fixture list and know it date for date from memory.
  2. Don't be pedantic "parsnips old fruit." I never stated anything, however look at the fixtures and tell me honestly the tastier looking meetings aren't at lakeside...
  3. Oh of course, the Rye fans don't matter and the riders won't need their wages paid when they race at Rye. Should have been an even split down the middle, not second sides go to Rye and the stand-alones go to Lakeside.
  4. Just seen how the Hawks home meetings will be split next season and i'm quite disappointed tbh. Seems that the stand alone sides will be visiting Lakeside, whilst the second clubs of other tracks will be coming to Rye, Belle Vue aside, all the better looking meetings in the league will be at Lakeside...
  5. This thread is going right off topic, how the fact that the prices for the Hawks meetings at both Rye and Lakeside are ott can be changed into a discussion about a track on the Olympics site I don't know but it's not the place to discuss this. The Hawks name has been revived because it is a defunct club relatively close to Rye and Lakeside in the speedway world. It is a fixture filler for both clubs, whilst also developing both Rye and Lakeside assets who have a structure to climb through all three tiers of British speedway now. It is a disappointment prices are so high, not so people can have a moan but because it means they will not be able to attend these meetings and see the future of their teams and British speedway because if they do they won't be able to watch their senior side.
  6. I know, as I was there every week... This is just taking the p*** too much now. I was really looking forward to seeing the Hawks this season, however the prices will mean I do 1, maybe 2 home meetings, with the rest I attend in 2011 being Rockets meetings. The fact I can't pay student prices too is ridiculous, I won't plead poverty because that isn't true, however if it wasn't for my loyalty to my own team I'd be tempted to go to Lakeside on a friday evening, I'd get in cheaper. That won't work. Promoters need to look at how to bring new fans into the sport, not just bringing back old ones by reviving their defunct team. Dudley was the exception, not the rule, because the promotion is seperate to Wolverhampton/Birmingham.
  7. Yes it is... 2 adults and 2 children could get into Mildenhall for £26, that's £8 saved. Spread that over the season of league matches and there's a big difference £306 at Rye and £234 at Mildenhall. That's £72 saving. I will support the Hawks and watch their results but will be picking and choosing meetings because there's no way to justify such high prices, especially in a stadium where you don't have to pay rent. If Len gambled and charged £10 a meeting at NL level, I bet the stadium would be almost as full as a Rockets match each time the Hawks race.
  8. Shame to see Dallaway retire, always thought he had something about him, whilst his NL average wasn't that high, he always looked to me like he had the ability to mix it and perhaps go on to the Premier League at some stage, very much like Jordan Frampton has done. One rider I always looked forward to seeing ride.
  9. Morris would be a great signing on a 6.90 average but riding for Glasgow he would not be able to ride at all at home for the Hitmen surely?
  10. Press release confirming Taylor says he'll be number 1 so I guess that means no Wright. Branford and Adam Allott in the pipeline perhaps?
  11. Jotun Paints headquarters is in Sandefjord, Norway, not too close to Scunny
  12. It was just a generality June, I'm not doubting your support, I've seen on this section before you're always supporting the youngsters and that is what we all should do. I can see how you feel, we have the same situation with the Cobras now track sharing as the Hackney Hawks, i'll support the team at Rye as always, however I won't travel to Lakeside and pay £12 to watch because it isn't viable for me to do so, which is a shame because I always enjoy watching our National League meetings.
  13. Garrity reminds me a lot of Ryan Fisher in his style, the lads clearly got balls, he can certainly be a top liner in the NL in 2011 and pushing for a PL spot somewhere.
  14. It's not a difficult concept to understand, the team are there to bring riders on, the name doesn't matter too much really, however if calling them Sheffield when they race at Sheffield and Scunthorpe when they race at Scunthorpe means more fans come through the door then that's the best way forward simply. It would be good to see the Hull name revived, it may help with pushes for a new stadium for the Vikings, it really depends how fickle certain fans at both clubs are and won't attend because of the name of the side rather than supporting the youngsters who could be the future of British speedway.
  15. David Beckham isn't left out of pocket every time he plays for England though is he? The slide British speedway is on is an alarming one and it could have been prevented years ago. Lets hope moves are made to stop it now, though I doubt that will happen very much.
  16. Strange to see no Tai Woffinden in the line-up so far...
  17. Would be a decent team Simon, would be nice to see Niall Strudwick given one of the reserve berths though on a 3 point average.
  18. Solid side, personally can't see them winning the league, however if they do it'll justify Belle Vue entering a team into the NL. Garrity is the stand out rider, he will increase his average, however I can't see much in the others. Hackney are still the team to beat imo.
  19. I understand that Waco, however Danny Halsey has been on this forum recently asking for a team spot, i'm sure if offered one with the Hawks he would have taken it. We all have teams we would preferred to have seen and that's all i'm saying. I'll support all seven riders who race for the Hawks including Magic Mason and I do hope he has a good season, I just can't see it, thats all.
  20. Spot on Spinny. I hope Tony does accept his invitation to ride.
  21. It's the opinion of the paying customer. You make it sound as if we've said something absolutely terrible about David. No-one has said they won't support him, but there are two young riders out there (at least) in Halsey and Strudwick, who we could have used and would be better options and also they are riders who have a chance at a future with the Rockets and maybe even the Hammers at some point, I can't see Mason in the Elite League in future can you?...
  22. He qualified for the meeting, I'm sure he won't be going to run 5 lasts, wether he does is another matter but I'm sure TA will give it a good go. Don't shoot the messenger...
  23. Interesting line-up, one that could challenge. Only change I would have made would be Danny Halsey instead of David Mason, if that had been the side we would have walked the NL in 2011. As it is we will be strong challengers still.
  24. So, Tony Atkin will be the man in the Ben Fund after winning at Telford this evening, very interesting, wonder if he'll pull up any trees.
  25. If this and what Rye and Lakeside are doing starts a trend of teams collaborating to run an NL side then it can only be a good thing, my concern wouldn't be over team names, more over what will happen when these teams produce riders who will be wanted by both clubs for the Premier League side, at the moment most of the Saints are Scunthorpe assets of course, but say for example Stefan comes through and is wanted to race PL, will he be an asset of Scunthorpe or Sheffield. This could cause clubs falling out and breaking up the partnerships which are being built.
