  1. I so wish I could block messages from Jepsen Jensen Racing as this topic would be half the size AND would be much better to read. Utter drivel. As for Kings Lynns side this year?? looks good to me but until we see the others we will not know...however I know one thing. Whatever the team the racing on the BEST track in England makes it worth while going. I expect NKI wants to ride at Lynn as no amount of danger money would make him want to ride the showground.
  2. i think i may have the Kings Lynn pride of The East..but it wil take some digging out!!!
  3. You could add Michael lee and Richard Hellsen to that AND.....Tiddler Turner and anyone........
  4. Well I guess my name will give it all away!!!!!! I have been watching speedway now since 1977 and I still maintain that Mike Lee was the best all round rider I have ever seen........yes there have been others more professional but for all round ability I maintain he was the best... He let himself and his fans down on numerous occasions but I was there at Lynn the night he rode for Poole and was given his 5 year ban.....it was a stitch up.........he was "cheated" at the gate and yes he turned his bike round at the first turn but by the time the riders came back round he was well on the infield and therefore causing no danger........the authorities wanted to get him...and get him they did and in doing do ruined one of the sports greatest talents... was he good?? someone asked......wow...was he ever....used to hope that he would miss the gate just to watch him pass....he was awesome... Happy happy memories!!!!
  5. Well SS...what can I say........other than I have rarely heard such inward looking narrow minded drivel......... Yes I go to Kings Lynn fairly regularly but I also have the misfortune of watching EL speedway every Monday night and cannot remember the last time i watched a decent meeting. The tracks often look under prepared with riders not seeming happy. I think last nights track was a credit to Speedway with some excellent hard close racing. Was it an advantage to the Aussies.....hardly...yes darcy ward was with us last season but quality riders will always be able to race on quality surfaces.... And SS...watch out next year...I think it is GBs turn for the SWC final.....and my money will be on Kings Lynn to rightly stage it....watch this space.........
  6. My main memory of White City was seeing probably one of the best speedway meetings ever in I think it was the semi final of the 1977 KO Cup. Kings Lynn V White City. White City won thwe fist leg at home by I think 8 points. They then proceeded to reel off 2 5-1's in the first 2 heats at Kings Lynn and remember in those days there were only 13 heats in a meeting... Kings Lynn dragged their way back into the meeting and went through to the final in the last heat. fantastic evening that I can still remember many years on.......
  7. 13 heat meetings second halfs that mattered Queuing on the bypass at Kings Lynn for every home meeting Bank Holidays meetings at home to Belle Vue when half of Manchester seemed to be there!! Ian Turner barely touching the ground when sat on his bike.. Happy days!!!!
  8. Great web site...but without wanting to be too picky Michael Lee won the 1980 world final on a Jawa..not a weslake..... He was a works Jawa rider at the time and was comtemplating switching to Weslake but his Dad ( a genius with engines) managed to breathe new life into the Jawa and the rest is history.......
  9. In the latest edition of Backtrack there is an advert for a video which includes that Test Match in 1980 amongst others.
  10. My first meeting was back in 1977 at Kings Lynn against i think it ws Hackney.been bitten ever since.......
  11. Yes..I can well remember those early Kings Lynn days...he was fantastic. I cam also remember seeing hin at his first World Final at Bradford when he certainly shocked a few people with his passing. I was madeup when Lynn signed him.....as I knew just how good he would be!!!
