The Marketa may put on the SGP in June, but will there be any flights to get us to Prague? BA cancelled our flights this morning very pissed off. Can't re-book as no idea when or if it is going ahead.
-
I see Prague is on lock down, all events with more than 100 people suspended or cancelled. Tickets for speedway GP suspended.

Thanks for your reply

Any ideas for the dates for Prague 2020 yet?

Hi guys. Sorry for bothering you all. Trying to get hold of the Poole fan I met at the Prague GP last night. He helped out Darren who was showing us around the pits. We were on the roof together. I got the stuff you lent him back after you had gone. If he sees this can he send me an email and I will post the stuff back to you (afraid I got back more than we lent out). Paul (a cheetahs fan).

If you want to try a selection of beers and cider's go the 'Piw Paw' on Foksal a turning off of Nowy Swiat. It has 92 - 95 different tap beers and cider's, and around 120 different bottled beers and cider's. Will be in there on Thursday and Friday evening. Another bar worth a visit is Hoppiness, on a road behind C&A. Only 12 craft drinks (a very nice stout called 'Coffee and Cream'), but they do some nice pub grub.

Thanks for that, I hope the Beer is cold to cool me down if the dancers are too hot Paul

Latvia Gp Advice Needed
paul666 replied to invadersfan's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hi, Try looking at these links http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=42302 http://www.hotelbiplan.lv/en/ I recommend the above hotel as a cheap nice place to stay, 5-10 minutes walking from Bus or Train Station, 20 Minutes by foot to the stadium. Ryanair can be the cheapest flights, Stanstead to Riga. Pick an early flight or you will land too late for a train or bus to Daugavpils, and have to stay in Riga. Last year the people in Daugavpils were very friendly and helpful, food and drink was very cheap. Try the Central Bar for wall to wall gorgeous females Disco downstairs, Bowling upstairs. Last year it was still open on the Friday and Saturday nights at 6a.m. when I left (should say crawled out, i'm getting too old had to get some sleep! ). Hope this helps, if you want to know any more PM me. All the Best Paul . -
European Gp 2009
paul666 replied to leanne1706's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hi All, Sorry if I misled anyone, but I believed that the stadium was fully weatherproof, I've watched them moving the roof back and forth a number of times, and this was mentioned in the press when the motor racing was held there. Why not hold a GP at one of the larger English Football clubs (I do not follow football so don't know the sizes of different stadiums) during the closed season, when they all seem to tear their pitches up to relay them. I sure the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United would be happy with the extra income generated by the event. Also I don't think the local hotels would try and rip us off like they do in Cardiff, it's this that puts me off the Welsh city. All the best Paul -
European Gp 2009

Hi All, I go past Wembley almost every day, to answer a number of the points made about the stadium, 1. It has a moveable roof like the Gelesenkirchen stadium, so is weather proof. 2. There are 3 train stations in Wembley: Wembley Park underground, with Metropolitan and Jubilee line services. Wembley Central underground, Bakerloo and mainline Euston Wembley Stadium mainline, to Marlebone (for the football it is arranged for parking of cars and coaches at their stations near the M25 so you don't have to drive into London). 3. There are at least 2 big hotels almost next to the stadium and a number of B&B's nearby. 4. I can think of 4 pubs within a short walk of the stadium (these are normally closed when the football is on do to the trouble that seems to follow the game). You have the added bonus of being very close to central London takes from 10 to a maximum of 25 minutes, depending on which route you use. There are also 5 airports serving London, the Channel tunnel link and a good road network around the area. The only down side I can see is the vast number of tickets that would have to be sold to make the venue viable. All the Best Paul -
Hi Tractor Girl, I went there last year: Daugavpils is 220 Km from Riga, you can get there by train or bus. There are 4 trains a day, last year it cost about £2.50 one way, but is oh so slow takes between 3 and 5 hours depending on which train you get, with nothing to look at except tree trunks. I'm trying the bus this year, have been told it is cheaper and takes around 2½ hours, and is meant to be a more intesting journey. There are a number of hotels in Daugavpils, but I only know about 3 of them: Park Hotel Lagota - The most expensive, where the STC stayed last year as well as a couple of the Riders. Located in the city centre. Hotel Dinaburg - Medium price, most of the Riders and officals stay here, very close to the track, around 5 Km from the centre. Hotel Bioplan - Cheapest of the 3, a nice clean comfortable modern bed and breakfast hotel, near the centre (1 Km) and around a 20 minute walk (3 Km) to the track. Stayed there last year and found it to be very good, and nothing was to much for the staff. Lindback and his crew were staying there as well as a lot of media. It became full on the Saturday with a great bunch of Poles. I'm back there again this year. I recommend this Hotel if you just want some where for B&B, it has and associated restaurant in the city called "Leon" top notch food at very cheap prices. Hope this helps you. Best wishes Paul

Hi Mike, I ended up sending the money by bank transfer, costs around £10.00. If you send an email via the contacts bit on the menu they will send you 2 sets of bank account details, one for EUROS the other for LATS. Make your choice. I received a receipt about 10 days later, you have to pick the tickets up at the race office. thats down the right hand side of the stadium. Hopes this helps best wishes Paul

Hi Rob, What block are you in C or D, I'm in D2 should be just above the rider number 13 or 14. I can't believe they still had front row seats still left, this year I ended up in the gods, good view though. Hope they don't run out of beer outside again! And better toilet arrangements . Best wishes Paul

Hi Rob, Please excuse my ignorance , but does WWoS stand for Wreally Wreally old S*?s. Best Wishes Paul -
Hi All, Just a quick post about the Antonio Lindback comment. I saw him Sunday morning and he was unable to walk on his own, he looked very banged up and obviously in a great deal of pain. The commentators make flippant remarks about riders to make the programmes interesting and amusing, for our enjoyment. But seeing Antonio like that, brought home to me how dangerous the sport is, and deriding comments do nothing to recognise this. Just want to add, Get well soon Antonio and best of luck with you future racing. All the Best Paul

Hi All, Thanks for the comments and advice. We're making a long weekend of it, back to Riga on the sunday for a few more days. Garry if you want to meet up for a drink it'll be great, do you know any bars to meet in. Must warn you my mate has hollow legs!!! Drop me a PM where and when you want to meet. Best wishes Paul

Hi All, Is anybody going to Daugavpils? Me and a mate are heading for Riga on the Thursday then down to Daugavpils Friday. Will there be a meet up of Brits, if where? If anyone wants to meet for a beer let us know . Also if anyone has been before, can they recommend any decent bars and restaurants. Thanks Paul p.s. If there's any ladies going and want to meet up, my friend is fully house trained . That Ladies and NOT "LADIES" in the Little Britian sense

Hi all, If you're getting withdrawal systems from lack of decent live speedway why not do what I do and pop down to Cowley to see the Oxford Cheetahs. It only takes 35 - 40 minutes from MK, along the A421 to Bicester, then A41 over the M40 to the A34, come off at the Peartree interchange, left to the ring road left again to the Cowley junction, left at roundabout and right at lights into Sandy lane and you're there. Good speedway and friendly crowd. Best Wishes Paul
