  1. Yeah perhaps it's all about existence and survival these days and accepting to just have speedway in the area is a bonus. Although a Glasgow fan since the late 60s I actually live closer to our two biggest rivals and have seen more meetings there the last number of years as I tend to pick what I consider to be potentially better meetings.
  2. Oh come on what decisions did he have to make at the Pairs apart from what side of the podium to stand on for photographs and in all honesty a manager isn't really wanted in that photograph. The only thing he'll win is the title of most photographed manager
  3. He has made some terrible decisions with who he has selected to put out in ht 15 over the years (eg Danyon Hume at Berwick last season). There were decisions made which lost us points in matches which affected our final league position and thus opponents last season.
  4. Stewart Dickson is probably one of the best around but let's remember there were a lot of unhappy Tigers' fans, myself included, with the way he was appointed to replace Ian Steel.
  5. Riders come and go every season but the one constant in trophy-less campaigns has been Mr Brown. Co-incidence?
  6. The obvious simple example would be greater muscle strength enabling holding on to the handlebars better on a rougher track
  7. Brings me back to my old bug bear - if a rider withdraws midway through a meeting through injury should he be permitted to ride the following evening?
  8. As you rightly say drugs can impair the perception of speed, space, distance etc so judgement is completely false. Basically if you take drugs to enhance your performance you're cheating and have no place in any sport and a 2 year ban won't change the fact you were prepared to cheat or put lives at risk.
  9. IF he did refuse to comply with the test that is deemed as a positive test and a two year ban with, I believe, no right of appeal. I'm sure if there had been any dubiety on the proceedings last night Stewart Dickson would have been on it knowing the rule book the way he does.
  10. And sadly the ruling bodies to forget all to easily certain riders past misdemeanours and still treat them like heros rather than cheats
  11. The only way NDL riders are going to improve is by bringing a heat change formula for the reserves. I'd suggest that the four reserves only race against each other in 4 heats with one start from each gate.
  12. Ace is one for the future no doubt but the team is not going to win any trophy with him in his first year. Too often we've seen so called wonder kids given a chance (eg Bickley was another while Bewley was the exception but just didn't stay at Glasgow long enough for us to benefit) to no avail. Too much pressure is put on these young kids. Yes let's develop them with an eye on the future but let's be realistic and accept that with a 2pt reserved the other 6 have to be on fire. As for our other reserve I'm afraid he is out of his depth and he should stick to the NDL which seems to be his level. Also at his age you have to question why he is taking on so many guest bookings and extra travel. Is he seeing this as a last gasp at making some money so grasping every opportunity available but not giving Glasgow 100% in the process. Yes we want to build a team for the future but with the present teaming building regulations its obvious two or more rider will move on at the end of each season killing any consistency and until that rule is addressed building for the future is a waste of effort (and probably money)
  13. What I meant was any rider withdrawing after a crash with an 'injury'. There were two occasions last week where riders withdrew after falls in their first race then both turned out the next night. Strangely enough the fall occurred in CL meetings and the next day appearances were in the PL. Too much of a coincidence and it's not the first time that has happened.
  14. SCB sure know how to encourage overseas riders to come race in Britain don't they? Laguna suffered from food poisoning, certified by a doctor, and gets a 7 day ban as its a non speedway related illness/injury. Yet another own goal scored by the biggest shower of idiots that call themselves management. Count your days till you're all out of a job because the way speedway is being mis-managef the only thing certain is speedway is on its last lap. (And I'm not even a Peterborough fan) PS if you want to make sensible and balanced ruling then I suggest any rider who withdraws from a meeting should not be permitted to ride for 7 days .
  15. Just looking at the fixture lists and seeing most teams have periods of inactivity for several weeks I can't but wonder how the ruling bodies can get it so wrong. Come the business and rainy end what's the chances teams are going to be struggling for dates yet again? Total mismanagement and financially clubs much be taking considerable hits. IMO we must go to a single league and ensure fans get weekly racing or fans will find other (cheaper) forms of entertainment. Changes are needed now
  16. With respect to Juul, Ben is already a better rider than Richard ever was. I'm sure there are plenty of other ex riders with lots of experience available to advise and guide Ben. I'm sure he is getting plenty good advice being part of the Danish National Development Squad
  17. See Jacod Hook has become available (and Bickley but he's done Glasgow before and didn't do much)
  18. If you reread my post you'll see I suggested 3 changes. I'm sure we could get by without a 2 pointer. Introducing 2 pointers was a joke and I'm pretty sure it was a way of ensuring teams had 7 riders. They've diluted the standard of the sport.
  19. Glasgows two reserves should stick to the NDL : Ace to get the experience and track time to build his confidence without the pressure of CL expectations. Lee should enjoy his racing at the lower level with Mildenhall because he is not going to reach the levels he did before. Lee is also, imo, taking on too many other bookings with added travelling and, I don't care what anyone argues, he cannot possibly give Glasgow 100% either physically or mentally. Who Glasgow would get as replacements is another story and perhaps 3 changes are actually required to make the numbers add.
  20. From what I've read about Ben's injury it seems he had one of his knuckles dislocated by a bit of flying shale. 2 questions is that is the case: How do pieces of shale large enough to inflict such damage reach the track? Riders seem to use much thinner gloves these say which obviously don't offer much protection. Should stronger gloves that do offer protection, such as the old leather style with rubber strips, be made compulsory?
  21. If that's the case there is bound to be photographic evidence surely?
  22. Maybe the meeting was meaningless as far as the competition goes but for fans paying hard earned cash all 15 heats mean something especially to travelling fans. Heat 15s continue to be a joke as top riders are continually not being nominated or declining to ride in it. Time to go back to the old 13 heat formula imo and have 13 heats that are meaningful.
  23. Tate had been knocked unconscious but worryingly he reportedly suffered several seizures after been taken to hospital. Protocol in motorsport is you must be free from any seizures for at least 12 months before your licence is renewed.
  24. If the change of ownership does not go ahead would Chris Holder want to ride for Chapman given their KL shenanigans a few years back?
