  1. Is that not to give all the overseas riders who under performed a chance to make some more money to buy their tickets home?
  2. Considering the 2nd meeting in the double header is effectively a meaningless match as it is the normal league meeting surely it would make more sense to have Scunny as visitor for the KO Cup Final? Then of course if the actual league match didn't go ahead Worky would undoubtedly face sanctions for not finishing their matches in a competition in which they reached the final without having to have completed all their league matches. Only in British speedway lol
  3. There is a story going round BBC offices that the SPOTY has now to go to someone who replies totally on human skills and doesn't reply on a bike, motorised or not, a car, a horse, a boat or involves any form of mechanised help as it could be from a financially advantaged position. If that is true it certainly would go back to the old original Olympic ethic of being fastest, jumping the furthest or highest or being the strongest. Got to feel for the likes Geraint Thomas if this is true
  4. That's part of the problem - he still sees himself as a big name. With all due respect there comes a time when you have to accept that your time as an International class rider comes to an end and accept it gracefully. Would Bomber have been in the GB team for the match if it had been anywhere else other than Glasgow? I seriously doubt it (mind you same could be said about Cookie bearing in mind Roscoe's apparent treatment of the guy). It will be interesting to see if we go to one big league how many of the older guys like Nicholls, Kennett, King and Harris find they are No2 s (no jokes please!!). It's going to be interesting watching how teams are built next year and what averages they'll be given to play with. (If it's 15hts make it 45 please)
  5. I sincerely hope there a Peterborough then so he can go there but I've a funny feeling Poole may just beat everyone else too him. All joking aside, I sincerely hope The Panthers are back at the tapes next season.
  6. Mason is at reserve because the management at Workington went for a well balanced team where almost all of the top 6 could better one another at some point in the season and I'd say it has proved dividends for them. Who ever was riding at no 6 did their job unlike so many other teams who went top heavy and ended up with reserves that were regularly beaten at home. Well done on putting together a TEAM
  7. For us outside the area would you care to say what the last sentence was please?
  8. Yet again Harris was put out when he didn't deserve to be. Really got to wonder if the stories about HIM having the choice to go out in ht15 no matter the circumstances are true?
  9. The only real mistake a referee can make at the start is either holding the riders too long on the greenlight or not holding them long enough assuming the green light was actually put on!
  10. Really disappointing to see the Glasgow manager (???) saying refereeing decisions cost them tonight. He doesn't think putting Harris out in ht15 when he didn't deserve to be there (and not for the first time this season) cost us? Truth is we didn't lose by a single point - Worky were the team that lost that point when Bach retired in the rerun of ht 1 so it should have been a 2 point defeat. Congratulations to the Comets and best wishes for your THREE Finals. I know there are stories going round there are doubts over you coming to the tapes next season so I hope the town and surrounding areas come out and give Laura and her team the support deserved.
  11. Got to say that's pretty poor when you consider the number of Star fans and from all other teams that contributed to appeals to help him after his tragic accident.
  12. The problem with "the rat race" an whoever finishes first second or last is the owners make/break/manipulate/change the rules for their own INDIVIDUAL interests. That is why the appointment of a TOTALLY INDEPENDENT ruling body is the only way the sport will be creditable again and get on the road to recover. As regard running individual events, I've advocated for years the sport should be split in two - a team event and an individual (GP) event for those wanting to go down that route. That way teams and leagues aren't disrupted by missing riders and I still believe the disruption caused by GPs played a major part in the decline of British speedway (ask the likes of Eastbourne or Rye fans). Leagues could exist without GP riders and perhaps the GP series should be looking to expand to 20 or so rounds like F1 and make it a viable competition for riders to compete in it alone. Iknow I'd prefer my speedway team to be the same for every meeting without the need for guests or r/r bar injuries.
  13. THE FIM have the power to enforce head injury suspension. Sadly riders all seem to think they are superhuman and can ride through anything because at the end of the day all they see is their bank balances. We've all witnessed rider claiming they are fine after a fall only to pull out of meetings. As Star Lady rightly says the bigger picture has to looked at and the safety of other riders, those on the centre green and in the pits as well as fans has to be the priority.
  14. Did they not try some sort of competition (called the Young Shield I think) a few years ago where the top finishing club participated in a season finale?
  15. As someone with a medical background I know if a HIA is carried out the possibility of a delayed concussion must be considered and the proper actions taken. Even if he appeared to escaped any brain injury on that occasion the possibility of another serious trauma shortly after has to be considered. Rider's safety is paramount and has to be the first consideration.
  16. As regards NKI's injury, am i not right in thinking he was hospitalised with a head injury which would mean the concussion protocol would come into play and he has to sit out for a specific number of days. He maybe said he was fine and appeared so but medical opinion may have differed and that has to be the over- ruling factor.
  17. When Stuart Dickson was preparing the Glasgow track he always said he preferred meetings to start later as it gave the track more time to dry out naturally if it had been damp. Perhaps the real solution is indoor tracks lol
  18. I agree that the league should be decided after every team has met over the agreed number of times and the team at the top declared champions. If it does go to a play-off then the idea of a final on a neutral track (and I even say at a lower division if there is to be one next season) certainly would make it interesting. Sadly injuries seem to be a major influence of the outcome of meeting at this time of the season (as we saw with Wolves too last season) and again I'll argue it's maybe down to fatigue of both men and machine with travel and doubling up etc being the cause.
  19. No the climax of the speedway season comes from the real league - The Championship with it's semi-finals, final and the KO Cup and Shield Final.
  20. How much of the behind the scenes goings on and, I'm assuming, lack of track work played a part in the BEN meeting being cancelled along with the alleged lack of availability of riders? I'd have thought have a meeting like that would have helped things?
  21. Surely if they are not prepared to pay for track work they must be considering their options and perhaps withdrawing their interests in The Bears too? Would that open the door to Ged Rathbone in bearing in mind The Brothers have previously stated they did not welcome his involvement?
  22. Yeah they changed the new rule about riders getting off their bikes at the starting grid even though matches had been completed with the rule in place and the outcomes possibly influenced by exclusions. As regards guests there is a story going round that Glasgow were looking at guests to replace Craig Cook for their semi-final against workington on Fri & Sat but were told 'they were not available' because if the Premier Final HAD been rained off they would have to have been available for that. If that is true then it is beyond comprehension that riders 'may or not be available'. What would have happened if Lakeside required Morris & Ellis if the PL Final had been rained off and rescheduled to the date of one of their meetings? Would PL fixtures take precedence even though they were guests? Too many things unthought of again
