  1. The reserves have been Glasgow's a chillies heel for years and sadly lessons have never been learned. I can understand them trying to protect Pjiper as an asset for seasons to come but in the past (with the exception of Bewley who was already BV asset) they have tried young 'prospects' that haven't been up to it and haemoraged points at home never mind away. A rethink for next season I hope although league setups may be totally different.
  2. So have Oxford got one over Glasgow psychologically already by initially saying they would be using Killeen as No 8 thus making Glasgow have to book someone else at reserve? I just hope if that was the case Luke has been compensated by Oxford as they have really messed the poor lad about this season.
  3. I think Redcar will be severely weakened by Charles Wright's absence and given the limited choice of guests may drop points.
  4. Thats been an age old problem with Scottish speedway. Gone are the days when the like of Chris Julian and Terry Stone were willing to travel from the deep south for a ride in Scotland..
  5. Another anomoly of British Speedway. In the PL Charles Wright's average is higher than Luke Becker's yey Becker can't replace Wright in the CL
  6. I'm sure managers and Promoters are going through the rule book with a fine tooth comb
  7. Are the use of guests restricted to riders from teams who didn't make the play-offs this year. Redcar losing Wright must be a blow as there are effectively only 3 riders (Howarth, Schlein and Sedgman) capable of covering him or could Redcar pull in someone like Ellis or Becker from the PL?
  8. I pass the place Jack was killed at Grantshouse everytime I go to Berwick
  9. But Crazy Jack (RIP) was a likeable bloke off track.
  10. This is exactly why the sports so called ruling bodies should be getting involved. Chapman, from where I stand, with limited info and knowledge, is not PROMOTING speedway and could be seen to be acting against rather than preserving it and thus bringing the sport into disrepute.
  11. Could it be Chapman has actually sold the team to AEPG on the quiet making it a legal transaction rather than a brown envelope job? As an outsider the whole affair seems very messy
  12. As a neutral I think it really is time the BSPA/SCB stepped in and took action for the good of the sport especially when there is so many different folk interested in keeping Peterborough alive. I all honesty Chapman's involvement in speedway over the years has only benefitted him and certainly not the sport as a whole. Anyone who can fake a heart attack and waste NHS resources to give a rider extra time to get to a meeting is the lowest of the low and the SCB should consider doing a due diligence assessment to see if he fit to be a Speedway Promoter.
  13. Do you honestly believe the PL will run with only 5 teams? It would be financial suicide and I doubt any TV company would consider taking on a contract to televise a series of repeats. For speedway to survive in the UK the PL and CL have to amalgamate and if that means the loss of GP and other top riders it's a price worth paying imo. The fact there would be a shortage of riders given there could be no doubling up could be seen as a positive given it would give younger lads more opporchancities. We may initially have to go backwards to make progress.
  14. Yes but surely the lost jncome in having at least 2 less home meetings a year would be greater?
  15. Guess that's Richie now ruled out as a guest in the play offs. I think Sedgman, Howarth and Schlein may get a few more meetings.
  16. I know young lads deserve the opporchancity to ride at a higher level but I've often thought from a safety point of view NDL lads should have to achieve a certain average before they can move up to CL level. Yes there will be instances, Ashton Boughen being the latest example, of kids who do have a natural ability and can hold their own but as we've all seen many are a danger to themselves as well as others when introduced to the next level.
  17. Well if Smith rides as well as he did yesterday he'll do a job.
  18. Getting away from Tarasenko I think a lot will depend on who is or isn't available on Wed. If both Heeps and Vissing miss the meeting then with r/r in place I'd say Glasgow may have the advantage. However the key could be if Ace Pjiper rides at reserve or not for The Tigers. If not could be see some more astute management (by The Promotion not the manager) and Luke Kileen booked as a guest?
  19. I seem to remember reports that Sam at least was trying something on his bike in that instance.
  20. Glasgow being one of them. Full credit to Sam Masters and Scott Nicholls for doing any ht 15 this year even when the result (and even aggregate bonus point) was decided. Oxford Promotion obviously believe in letting the fans see the best riders at every opporchancity.
  21. Or Vadim not doing ht15 cost us the bonus. I assume he was a little too tired to do it?
