  5. For those who haven't yet had the chance to see the latest installment of 'USA National Speedway 2008', you can view Division One Speedway at the following times: Sunday 7th June 2009 at 8:10pm Monday 8th June 2009 at 3pm Tuesday 9th June 2009 at 6pm Wednesday 10th June 2009 at 4:05am Wednesday 10th June 2009 at 3pm Friday 12th June 2009 at 11:25pm Saturday 13th June 2009 at 11am Video Preview: Meeting Scorecard: http://webjam-upload.s3.amazonaws.com/prog...6d56__123__.pdf
  6. For those who haven't yet had the chance to see the latest installment of 'USA National Speedway 2008', the Fair Derby runs at the following times: Sunday 31st May 2009 at 8pm Monday 1st June 2009 at 3pm Tuesday 2nd June 2009 at 6am Tuesday 2nd June 2009 at 10am Tuesday 2nd June 2009 at 6pm Wednesday 3rd June 2009 at 2pm Friday 5th June 2009 at 10:55pm Saturday 6th June 2009 at 11am The annual Fair Derby from the world famous Costa Mesa Speedway has been a massive competition since its inauguration way back in 1970. Bill Cody was the first winner way back when, Bruce Penhall taking victory in 1976, Mike Bast and Kelly Moran some of the famous names to have taken the title since then. The Championship's most successful rider Mike Faria, who has won a total of eight crowns stretching back to 1986, was not set to race in the 2008 Championship, so a different winner was very much on the cards. At one end of the experience scale Bobby Schwartz, 1978 Champion and five times winner who last took victory in 1998 competes, and at the other end two time USA Under 21 Champion Ricky Wells, who became the youngest ever event winner with a victory in 2007 - can he retain his crown? 7. Firstly thank you for your comments both Chris and Arnie; everything that is written on this forum and others is read and considered. With regards to last week's formatting issue with Motors TV, I have not yet been told why the box appeared: all I do know is that it was particularly a problem for non-widescreen (4:3) TVs. I am hoping that the issue will be corrected as we go racing this week! This week's Speedway on Motors TV from the world famous Costa Mesa Speedway features 'Speedway and Motorcycle Demo Derby' night: Sunday 24th May 2009 at 8:10pm Monday 25th May 2009 at 3pm Tuesday 26th May 2009 at 6pm Wednesday 27th May 2009 at 2pm Friday 29th May 2009 at 11:25pm Saturday 30th May 2009 at 11am Video Extract: Meeting Scorechart: http://webjam-upload.s3.amazonaws.com/prog...a3d1__112__.pdf

  9. A bit of a modern example here, but it is more than 5 years: I would like to propose Fredrik Lindgren (Wolverhampton) if he hasn't already been proposed.
  10. For those who have not yet seen the AMA Nationals (one of the most exciting events of the season's programming), the remaining broadcasts are: Friday 8th May at 11:25pm (after FIM World Ice Racing, so a double dose of two wheels!) Saturday 9th May at 11am Next week's programming features the 2008 Kid's Night, and will be broadcast on: Sunday 10th May at 8:10pm Monday 11th May at 3pm Tuesday 12th May at 6pm Wednesday 13th May at 2pm Friday 15th May at 11pm Saturday 16th May at 11am
  11. Dear Backless, Thank you for your comments. I won't be responding to everything everyone posts on any forum, as obviously time would not be on my side, but I can say that everything written on this forum is read both by myself and the team at American Speedway Online who film the footage and complete the in-race edits. I feel the need to post simply to clarify what I feel are a couple of innacuracies in your post. Firstly I would like to take the opportunity to point out that the image quality is four times that of a standard DVD, so to compare it to Betamax is obviously somewhat off the mark. My second point is regarding the graphical work. I am not sure what "home movie graphics" you were using in the 1980s, but I would like to show you what graphics were being used in the 1980s and 1990s by well-respected television companies. http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/993/80sand9...edwaygraphi.png The top image comes from ITV (1984), the second and third from Screensports (1987), the fourth from ITV (early 1990s) and the botttom two from Sky Sports (mid-1990s). Please compare with: http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/7015/usan...peedway2008.png Thank you for your interest in the series, and I hope that future programmes will capture your imagination, Regards, Alex Raby
  12. Thank you kindly for your words Wimbledondon, and indeed everyone who has voiced support for the series. I have made no secret of the fact that the whole series is for the fans - budgetwise there is no competing with the likes of Sky Sports, but I do hope that the overall package we offer is entertaining and enjoyable for those who are sitting at home and watching. Of course, the 'Subscription' package gave the opportunity for fans to offer a small amount of financial support towards the series - those who have most enjoyed the programmes and would like to receive a more in-depth package with newsletters etc. are able to do so. All of the money from this, and indeed any revenue earnt from the series, was always destined to be pumped back in to future projects of this ilk. But an equally important part of "supporting" the series is not just financial - in the current cash-strapped times I wouldn't expecting everyone to be buying subscriptions, DVDs or merchandise - but rather just by sitting at home and tuning in. I can see from the viewing figures of the opening programme that people have done this, and so I greatly appreciate your support. For those who criticised the racing, it is a great shame that you feel this way as I could cite a huge number of passes from the opening programme alone that make British League racing look poor by comparison - even in those races were there is no passing, the riders are seperated by narrow margins that make even the slightest mistake costly. The fact that the riders aren't all household names is maybe an issue for some, but hey, they'll grow on you - a part of the charm of the series is that you can follow the progress of the youngsters as they improve (stylistically as well as statistically) over the weeks. In a similar way to these raw rookies, we believe that the footage and production will improve every week. As far as the filming is concerned, I am sure that my partners at American Speedway Online have learnt plenty from the series in much the same way as we all have, and will be able to offer an even better service in the future. So, all I can say is that I hope you all stick with it and keep watching - there is more great racing on the way!
  13. A reminder that you have but three more opportunities to view the 40th Anniversary Season Opener on Motors TV: Wednesday 8th April 2009 at 2pm Friday 10th April 2009 at 11pm Saturday 11th April 2009 at 11am
  14. Dear Speedway Fans, After a great meeting to kick off 2008 unofficially last week, with the 2008 Spring Classic, this coming week you have the opportunity to witness the official 40th Anniversary Season Opener from Costa Mesa Speedway. If the racers can surpass the amount of passing that was witnessed in the first programme of 'USA National Speedway 2008' then they will certainly have earned the adulation that they receive from the fans trackside. A scorecard has been uploaded to the programme's official website (www.webjam.com/speedwayonmotorstv) and the direct link is below: http://webjam-upload.s3.amazonaws.com/40th...f35e0__74__.pdf This comes following a suggestion that it may be easier to follow the racing with some form of scorecard, and I hope that this will add even further to your viewing pleasure. We listen to all constructive criticism, and will do everything feasibly possible to improve the series. Everyone involved with 'USA National Speedway 2008' is a Speedway fan themselves, so it really is a true case of 'for the fans, by the fans'. I hope that you will give the series the support it needs by tuning in. The broadcast schedule for the 40th Anniversary Season Opener is: Monday 6th April 2009 at 3pm Tuesday 7th April 2009 at 6pm Wednesday 8th April 2009 at 2pm Friday 10th April 2009 at 11pm Saturday 11th April 2009 at 11am For a full schedule of all remaining broadcasts in 2009, visit our website: www.webjam.com/speedwayonmotorstv And for those who missed last week's 2008 Spring Classic, the last repeat is tonight at 8pm, so you're going to have to get in quick! 15. Thank you for posting up that link, Mark. The programme will reach approximately 16 million homes in Europe, with a very wide coverage as you can see from the above map. To answer Nevs' question: the channel (Motors TV) is free to Sky and Virgin customers, "subscription" is an optional extra to help support the programme and help keep Speedway on our television screens. The £10 charge represents less than 60p per programme, and will all go towards covering the costs of the project. As such, this is a way that Speedway fans who want to see more Speedway on TV can truly help. As a subscriber you will receive a free newsletter, and be pleased in the knowledge that you have helped Speedway to stay on TV. For further details and an application form, please visit our website at: www.webjam.com/speedwayonmotorstv As Mark pointed out, we are still looking for sponsors for individual segments and programmes, with prices starting as low as £30. If you would like to be a part of this project, please do contact me at the address below - I am your UK contact. Similarly, I am happy to answer any other questions you have regarding the programmes. Looking forward to hearing from you, Thank you for your support, Alex Raby Producer: "USA National Speedway 2008" alexraby@gmail.com
  16. QUOTE ("Official Programme Press Release") From: www.webjam.com/speedwayonmotorstv IN ASSOCIATION WITH American Speedway Online, Alex Raby is pleased to announce that Speedway will be returning to Motors TV from March, following the confirmation of a seventeen programme series commencing on the twenty second of the month. Entitled "USA National Speedway 2008", the series broadcasts some of the best racing from last year's USA Speedway scene, featuring notable names such as former World Champion Billy Hamill, current British League rider Billy Janniro, and former British League riders Mike Faria, Chris Manchester, Bobby Schwartz and Shawn McConnell, amongst others. As well as seeing some of the United States' best riders go head-to-head, viewers will have the opportunity to see some of the best racing from the world famous Costa Mesa Speedway stadium in its 40th season of Speedway. Moving away from The Bullring, the series presents the most important of USA's Speedway events including the US Nationals and the AMA National Championship. The season of speed will even end with the USA's only test match of 2008, as they took on the Rest of the World, offering a line-up complete with notable names such as Lubos Tomicek, former World Finalist Phil Collins, and German international Martin Smolinski. Programme producer Alex Raby says of the announcement: “It is a great honour that Motors TV have chosen to dedicate us a primetime television slot on Sunday at 8pm, and a sign of the appeal of Speedway as a motorsport. I believe that in return, we offer a fantastic product, with sheer entertainment value, and the fact that it is to be shown six times per week is representative of just what we offer. The frills are gone, and fans are left with a pure racing spectacular, an hour of gladiatorial Speedway combat. For the many who have campaigned for Speedway to be shown more widely on television, this is a day of great pleasure for you. On a personal level, the project is the culmination of a great deal of hard work over the last year, putting together a product that is representative of the sport.”
