  1. I think I might do the same. Had a fine cheeseburger on Saturday. Saw Neil stuffing his face with one too.
  2. Aye, there are plenty who I have asked who give the same reply, and don't come along. The ones that do come think it's mental, and really enjoy it.
  3. Not sure, but I don't think Glasgow Rangers exist anymore...
  4. Honestly. I can't believe no-one agrees with my idea, it's probably the best suggestion on here. The true fans pay more, the greetin' mumpin-moaners get in for nowt. The only condition would be that they would not be allowed to moan. Actually, you are all right. That would never work. Arson Fire, you're right. It is all everyone needs to do. I'm enthusiastic about the sport, and that get my mates interested. So they decide to come along and see what all the fuss is about. I've got two family repeat visitors, my old man has started coming back for every meeting when he is not working, and hopefully another family coming along tomorrow night. They all really enjoyed the night and though it was decent value for money. They mostly thought it was a bit mental too.
  5. Well, here's an idea. I'd happily pay more for my Saturday night of speedway. I love it. Why not have flexible pricing? So, people like myself can pay more, and the folk who are always greeting about things can pay less, but still come. It's a winner.
  6. A good turnout, as shows that interest is strong Results are not that important, the place we are in the league. Although not finishing last would we good
  7. Good post Screm, and the highlighted point is a particulary good one. Nobody will agree with everything a promotion does, I just seems some on here can't be happy with anything (not yourself, incidentally). I agree, the deserve a good turnout on Wednesday.
  8. It's laser; it cannot conceivably be lazer. It's an acronym of light amplification by stimulation of emitted radiation. Just thought I'd point that out Screm Now, a few points: 1. If people won't support a losing team, then each team at the bottom of the league would go bust. In fact, every team other than the winner would be in bother. This British obsession with winning and losing - rather than performance - is why we are, generally, crap at sport. Interestingly, it is not a philosophy that the British cycling team follow: look at their performances in the Olympics. 2. Emilali, I'm not sure where you get that John has alienated the fans. To me that comment just stinks of someone who has a personal chip on their shoulder. Quite revealing actually. 3. Thirdly, you are saying that 3 of the current team should be on next years' list. So, you are happy with half of the current team. That's pretty impressive for you. You truly are a havering git. Screm, I agree midweek meetings are not good. Surely that is all the more reason for everyone that can make it on Wednesday to go along? Now, just to let everyone see I am not all happy clappy about Berwick; I do think some of the press releases this year have been embarrassing, and I can't deny the league position is disappointing, I'm sure everyone shares that. There is just no point coming on here greeting about things, when there was actually a very entertaining meeting on Saturday. In my opinion, it is this chip on the shoulder, complain about everything attitude that will sink speedway before anything else does.
  9. Jeez ,all some folk come on here to do is moan! I thought it was actually a very entertaining meeting, but what do I know? On the point of newcomers, I've had four here this season, three have been back, and intend to do so again before the end of the season. The one who isn't back this year lives abroad, but really enjoyed the meeting he came to. Crowds lowest ever, any figures to back this up? Didn't look too bad to me for most of the meeting. I do agree the hold-up with the ambulance knocked things back, and a lot of people headed for the gates, but their loss, they missed a spectacular heat 13. If folk want to figure out why speedway is struggling, just take a look throughout this forum. There is something up with the support base, assuming that this is representative of the general speedway fan. They seem to revel in knocking their promotions, riders, and clubs. People coming on here and boasting about not coming to meetings, obsessing with crowd sizes, all whilst seeming to be total experts in the running of speedway clubs. Take a bloody look at yourselves and start supporting your clubs properly, then you might just be a little bit happier... ...but, somehow, I doubt it.
  10. That was an eventful meeting. Some cracking racing. Seb and Morris going from 3rd and 4th, to 1st and 2nd within 2 laps in heat 13 was quite superb. Morris was an extremely committed guest, very impressed. Barrett looks to have a bit of fight about him, could be a decent signing. I think the safety fence played a huge part in tonight's meeting. Bellego hit it back first on the 3rd bend at a fair old speed. It looked - to me - very similar to the way Jac Rempala hit it when he broke his back. Not only did Bellego get up, he also wasn't thrown too far out and Morris was able to avoid him. That incident alone made the £50k well spent. Hopefully it minimised the injuries to Makinen and Dyer too. It's a dangerous game this speedway.
  11. I also think Peter's passion for speedway means he will be back at some point. Many regard him as a very good team builder. I must say this is only a rumour, but it was one that was floating around Shielfield tonight too. No smoke without fire, as the saying goes.
  12. Where did I mention it as a bad thing? I have a lot of time for Peter. He's not how some folk make him out: within reason.
  13. Don't forget, he won us the fours in the final heat. Happiness, happiness....lah, lah lah.
  14. Heard a rumour of Perter Waite coming back, and I wouldn't bet against it. Only a rumour though.
  15. Great! We need more of this. Hats off to you Tsunami
  16. I'm proud to say "I was there", even though the weather did its damnedest to try and ruin it. Great to see supporters from all over, what a great crowd and atmosphere. The weather had its say in the racing, which is really frustrating for everyone, but at least the meeting went ahead: especially for the many who had travelled far. Let's hope we see more of this at Berwick. Being awarded this type of meeting after a relatively short time in charge shows the massive respect the Berwick Promotion are building up throughout the sport. Not only respect. but confidence in their ability to stage a FIM event. They can't be doing much wrong. Still, those who are jealous and bitter will continue to - somewhat desperately -try to find fault. I pity them.
  17. If the covers have been left on, then all this rain at the moment is irrelevant. The sun is peeking out as I type, so pretty sure this will go ahead. On the planning issue, here is the link. Berwick Town Council objected: that really is beyond belief. http://www.berwick-advertiser.co.uk/news/local-headlines/extra-rain-off-meets-secured-for-speedway-1-2350230
  18. England have no chance of going through. 3rd will be a good result for them.
  19. I agree fully Tsunami, Badits4life was absolutely right not to post any more details. I purposely didn't post at all until there was an official announcement. He's had a very nasty crash, and here's wishing him a comfortable and speedy recovery. His style and determination has already made Alex a legend at Berwick.
  20. I'm just going by what one of our riders has posted elsewhere. It means a lot for these guys to win, they have superb team spirit, and I am sure it will be a lift to Alex to hear that they pulled it back. Anyway, I'm not going to get dragged into this nonsense.
  21. Brilliant news, it is the most awful crash I have seen yet. Here's wishing Alex a speedy recovery, he's already become a star of the Bandits. I don't think the score is irrelevant, especially to the riders who clearly went out to win the match for Alex, and did, with some guts and style.
