  1. I still don't see what your point is? Hang on, maybe you are trying to say you could run things better?
  2. £13 admission makes the season ticket an even better deal. I also think that no-one on here can seriously criticise Dick for his comments. The evidence is everywhere, I include myself. Cue Screm's defence even though it is not necessarily aimed at him.
  3. Looks like a good bit of co-operation on here, most refreshing.
  4. I thoroughly agree Tsunami. Lawrence often drops some very witty wee tunes in, but I think it washes past many. I'm not sure the music argument is that relevant as most PA systems are pretty ropey, and that is where there needs to be an improvement: if the fans are going there for the music... Ermmm, Plymouth meeting on the Wednesday night. Was a cracker with plenty of muck. Not entirely disagreeing with you, just balancing up the point, a bit.
  5. Great deal that - I am sure - has taken a long time in putting together. Some of the speculative postings on here were ludicrous. Our club is run by strong businessmen: of course they were going to find an excellent new sponsor. Exceptionally well done
  6. You really do them a disservice there. Have you seen their sponsorship pack? Of course they know that sponsorship is a two way process. In addition, everyone I know who supports the club - however big or small - get treated like royalty by the promotion. OK, the press releases pretty woeful - I'm afraid I have to admit that - but it doesn't mean that behind the scenes isn't thoroughly professional. It clearly is. The praise for the work that has been done at Berwick post-Waite era is all over the place to see: and from the highest places. Exactly, anyone who is looking at sponsorship for increased revenue (apart from the Nikes of this world) is completely deluded. It has potential financial offsetting benefits, but really it is - like you say - all about building relationships and supporting an important part of the community. Getting sponsorship when the bottom lines of businesses is under fire is an almost impossible task. I would think it would need to be one of the big corporate businesses, and perhaps needs to be a bit less conventional than packages in previous days.
  7. Both are possible, I think it is a case of keyboard commando though. The "facts" he does give are wrong for a start. Sadly so.
  8. Silence: so, Mr Clever Clogs was clearly talking mince.
  9. That makes sense: I am curious, though. How is the return measured and quantified? How would you do that with speedway?
  10. This will be the year speedway died in UK, I'm very sorry to say
  11. I'm sorry, I have refrained from posting on here for a bit, as it is more or less just the usual suspects. But the above post is just too funny not to take the time to commend it. Pure comedy gold Screm! I am assuming all the typos were intentional and for comedy effect...
  12. Neither he or she, but hermaphrodite.
  13. Mind, you have maybe disproved my hypothesis that it might be more densely populated...
  14. Getting some cracking conversation on this thread at the moment! Of course, a move up the East coast would take speedway to a more densely populated area, it might make sense at some point?
  15. It'll only work if the appropriate pockets are lined, but the UK isn't corrupt: is it?
  16. I'm sure a lot of them will be, and if we get them we might get rid of this tiresome track garbage. Of course, one could argue that a ploughed field track where the riders are hanging on for dear life makes for an entertaining meeting. I think your machinery point is the most pertinent with regard to closer racing, and keeping costs down.
  17. The type of fan who complains about the track will never be happy, so I think it is best to leave them to their allotments and whist drives. Berwick is a classic example of this. In the Peter Waite days, it really was rough, and criticised heavily by riders and fans. The track has been transformed since that era, with countless compliments from riders, including GP ace Chris "Bomber" Harris. Yet you still hear the same archaic gurning from some about the condition of the track. We need fans who are capable of being independent thinkers, not sheep. You mention the machinery as an aspect that constrains racing. I suspect that, alongside riders' frame of mind, and circumstances, are the main drivers with regard to that.
  18. I can see you point of view Teal. I think this is one season where we are seeing a team full of familiar faces, and yes not the excitement of the unknown rider who could be the next best thing. This is a very carefully put together team, though, and I am sure they will provide plenty of excitement. Kozza and Bellego in particular!
  19. I would agree with that, however, I think Ashworth, Bellegeo, and Kozza are all pretty entertaining, the latter two not always by winning races. The other four are very solid in their team positions, Aspergren is particularly dependable. I like the balance of the team, I also like the personalities in the team. It's good for me: I'm chuffed!
