  1. That would make sense. With regard to the two most recent meetings, someone told me new material that had been added a few weeks back had started to get mixed through and was adding more grip on the inside. I have no idea if there is any truth in that. The racing was certainly miles better in those two meetings, and very entertaining.
  2. I agree, rain helps all tracks, provided it is not too heavy and is prior to the meeting.
  3. Well, after a poor start, it has been good for two meetings in a row. I actually think it was slightly better for the Leicester meeting. I'm optimistic until I see otherwise.
  4. Nice to come on and see so many posts praising the hard work done by the Promotion. Of course, it was not about a few weeks of promotion before the Sky meeting, promotion is a continuous long term process. It's great to finally see recognition for the years of hard work that has been put in. With regard to the phone ahead if you have a newcomer: I can tell you last year I did that with a Canadian visitor and he and his son were treated like royalty, at no extra cost. They loved it! It's been a very revealing thread this one...
  5. At the end of the meeting Nigel was asked what he thought of the meeting: "Cracking speedway!" was his reply. He came across as a really, really decent guy in person too, and was spending time having photos taken and talking to some kids as we left. If only everyone were as positive as he is about speedway...
  6. I take criticism. What I do is enter into a discussion, for around 20 minutes, then we decide I was right. Gamesmanship versus cheating as a recent example.
  7. You might have noticed that I have been critical this season. I'm really not happy clappy you know When a meeting - and showcase - like last night is produced, it really is fickle, and baboon-like, to be critical.
  8. But I thought you agreed it was gamesmanship rather than cheating? Which is what it was. Cracking meeting though, all the same
  9. On the same bend, going at 30 m/s, it looked as if it was avoiding action from where I was: admittedly the opposite side of the stadium, and without the benefit of having seen it on TV. It really isn't a big deal though. There are just some people who are so jealous that Berwick are leading the way in speedway promotion that they jump on anything that they possibly can. That tends to happen in small towns though, so not surprising. It was, no matter what the few say, a spectacular event made by a cracking performance from a depleted visiting team. That is really what is worth talking about.
  10. Honestly, it is really no big deal. The opposition responded in the required manner. You'd think he was Lance Armstrong the way you are going on What is a big deal is the fact Sky came to Shielfield in the first place, the excellent show that was put on, and a good close meeting that the best team won in the final few heats. The magnificent performance by Kerr is also something worth talking about. The atmosphere on the 3rd bend was incredible with acknowledgement from Nigel, Chris and Charlie. Kozza also made a point of stopping off a couple of times. It's one of the most enjoyable nights out I've had for a long time, and the Bandits have captured a few new fans to boot. What did the girlfriend think of it?
  11. On another note, Matty Wethers scores solidly again. He's our star performer so far this year. Great signing.
  12. I agree, it really is no big deal, it's something that happens in all sports. In fact, much worse happens in many other sports. The way to respond to gamesmanship (for the benefit of Erse on Fire) is to come out and beat the opposition: which Newcastle did. A bit of controversy - within reason - does no harm!
  13. What a fantastic meeting, two in a row. Pity about the result - from my point of view - but Newcastle were pretty solid and thoroughly deserved the win. The meeting could have gone either way quite easily, but the Diamonds upped their game in the latter part of the meeting. Everyone involved with the running of Berwick Speedway should be very proud of what they have been achieving with the club, and I am so glad that this has been shown to the speedway world via Sky Sports. The fans really turned out to support the club, a great effort there too. It's also worth saying that Nigel Pearson and Chris Louis where complete gentlemen. It was never any trouble for them to have time to interact with the fans, and they also came into the crowd to have photos taken at the beginning and the end of the meeting. Who would have thought a Tuesday evening could be so much fun! That's what it looked like to me too. He certainly looked to be avoiding a collision, but he did take a while to get up: it happens in speedway quite frequently though...
  14. The word must be getting out well, I've got mates who I never thought would go deciding to give it a try. It's surprising how many went in the Berrington days too. All coming out of the woodwork!
  15. Alex is a good gater, and if he gets his confidence back will score heavily for you. Good to see he has another team so quickly
  16. Ahh, but keeping with the flavour of current Berwick threads, which neurotransmitters? Power to the people
  17. No idea who Sackless is! I hadn't actually been counting, just realised there was a muckle big popular sign on one of my posts: confirming my suspicion that I am indeed the voice of the people.
  18. Hey, I was only asking, not instructing! You've no idea how big a slavver I am. Still, I got a muckle big popular sign on one of my post earlier today. So, it's official, what I say is general consensus.
  19. Firstly, can you not give it a rest about how long Eddie will be a Bandit for? Even having him as a guest for one meeting would be great. It was a pretty open statement from the club, they do not have a crystal ball, in case you hadn't noticed. Sarah didn't ask if you were trained as a neurologist. She was stating that only a specialist professional would have any idea of how long it will take Ricky to recover. Saturday was a fantastic response to a very poor start to the season. All the stops were pulled out and we were served with a fantastic speedway meeting. It reminded me of why the sport is so great. It is exhilarating when at it's best, like on Saturday. I'm looking forward to having a few mates coming for the first time, and some returning for the Sky meeting. If it is as good as Saturday, I expect they will come again this year. They are even talking about bringing their girlfriends.
