  1. That's some statement, Taffy. You can't generalise that loss-making businesses only show it as a paper exercise. Now businesses being tax efficient is another thing. I think us not signing Berge is a good move, we just couldn't carry him this season. Remember when we didn't sign Albin last year? Starke, can't be helped, but we can't say it is a big mistake until we're well into the season. Interestingly, some posters who said that we couldn't have Starke pairing up with Carr, now seem to think it is a big loss not signing him...
  2. Shaping up nicely, Tiggers. Look forward to seeing you all next season after the scare we all had that you might not run.
  3. Doolan a great rider to have back at Shielfield. Pleased with the two signings so far, I agree with a few posters on here; strength in depth could work well for us.
  4. Neither do you, what's your point? What a haver!
  5. Heh, heh. All this anxiety, like the spoilt kid who can't wait for Christmas! I'm sure we will have a team worth going to watch come the new season. One thing is for sure, Saturday evenings are a Hell of a lot more boring during the winter. I say it should be a 12 month season.
  6. The books of tickets is a great idea. Good idea as a Christmas gift, actually.
  7. Stojanowski not signed yet. Always went well round Shielfield.
  8. Scott Nicholls would be interesting. I wonder if he would consider doubling-up. Edited for accuracy.
  9. Remember, the forum isn't for posting opinions. It's about posting several contradictory teams; whilst maintaining an air of self-proclaimed speedway management genius, allied with splendid pomposity.
  10. There must be a few Elite League riders who could double-up, Scott Nichols? New assets are great, as long as they are reasonably close to their assessed averages. If they don't achieve this, all the "new blood" callers will be calling for their blood. Can't win as a speedway promoter.
  11. Yeah, I noticed the contradiction in certain arguments too. I guess a choice has to be made between new assets, or proven scorers, or a balance of both.
  12. I agree with Screm, Tomicek more than did his job when at reserve for us. I'd like to see Dimitri Berge is Starke is not an option.
  13. I agree about the Elite League. If the top 5 are solid enough, I'd happily have Starke and Carr at reserve.
  14. I see Laurel & Hardy are back on the go again. Edit: maybe not a good comparison, Laurel & Hardy were funny. I think when admission prices are set, then it makes sense to set season ticket prices. We got hit with an early team announcement, as mentioned, I'm quite happy to wait, providing it is worth waiting for!
  15. Agree, but I'd like to have Bellego, Wethers, Kozza, and Starke back.
  16. I wonder if us having already made the investment in the safety fence might put us in a stronger financial position than others? There are still plenty of decent riders not announced. Also, the fact that there are no riders announced for doesn't mean there aren't any signed. I actually prefer to be kept waiting a bit and enjoy trying to second-guess the team, even being drip fed riders works for me. We're all different, though.
  17. I still think Neil's team with minimal imports is the less seductive on paper, but probably one that would perform the best.
