  1. I'm not going to disagree with you on that one. I'm also not saying that Dick is splendid, or garbage, that is all down to personal opinion. Furthermore, I also agree that one does not need to be an expert to appraise the quality of a particular skill. What I was pointing out is that the cheapest place of them all for cheap shots is on an Internet forum. Now, a couple of years back, I fired my fingers off a bit too quickly about a certain announcer. It led to an apology from me. We need to remember that if we keep sniping away at all the folk who keep the sport running - no matter what we think of them - then we will lose the sport. There's no need to be happy-clappy, just a bit of common sense. Let's not kick the sport when it is well and truly down; one of these times it might just not get back up.
  2. Now here is an idea to put to the Promotion as an extra bit of entertainment, and fan involvement. Have an open mic night: but not in the musical sense. Invite the armchair experts to have a go as centre green announcer. Maybe make it one meeting and give each person a 15 minute slot. It could be good fun. I know folk who would do it, I would bet the ones on here critical of Dick, wouldn't though. It takes baws to do that, but it takes nothing to hide behind a computer and criticise. They should at least be offered the chance to show their fantastic expertise, though.
  3. Have to admit I originally thought the idea behind the EL format was bonkers. It might just work, though, and if it does it will hopefully bring some Brits through at an accelerated pace. If not, it could spell the end of EL. PL looks strong as ever, and personally I think it has been a very strong product for a good few seasons now.
  4. You've lost me with that one. Did I miss something?
  5. Exactly, I hope Edberg is one of them. A bit more luck and he'll be a decent reserve at the very least. I have massive admiration for him getting back on a bike after his horrendous crash at Shielfield.
  6. All the best to them, I'll be glad to see them riding.
  7. Schramm could be much higher. He's not really a 3.5 rider.
  8. Very excited having the Panthers in the PL (especially as it looked as if speedway might be lost). Great city, and a track to rival Shielfield. I shall endeavour to take a trip down!
  9. You shouldn't have been greetin' to me when the credit crunch hit then. It must have been all your fault! Of course luck plays a part: it is ludicrous to say it doesn't in a sport that is so high risk, with such fine margins, and so many uncontrollable variables.
  10. Great news! Another great track added to the best league in British Speedway.
  11. All of them have the potential - on a good - night to do something in heats 13 and 15. Not saying every away meeting, but they are all capable of mixing it with the best.
  12. I just read it again, have edited to include "not capable" and added Bellego. It was a bit late for me last night! As Paulco posted, that was exactly my reasoning.
  13. To think that Doolan, Bellego, Wethers, Vissing, or Kus - at least - are not capable of a heat 15 win, when on form is a bit unrealistic, Shadders.
  14. I would bet at the end of November if "those in the know" posted the team, they would be looking a bit embarrassed now
  15. The only problem with teams being announced so early is there is nothing to do but wait now! Need a fast forward button!
  16. Couldn't disagree with any of that. Great to see a British youngster getting a start in a team that should be able to give him great support. I an certain one rider will up his average, and that rider is Liam Carr.
  17. I too prefer the strength in depth team this year. Plus we know exactly what we will get from Doolan, Matty, and Bellego. Sure the others will feed off those three.
  18. Pleased with that team. On paper looks to be strength in depth: it's what a lot have been asking for. I personally prefer that type of team too. Really glad to have Wethers back. He was great for us last year. Now, watch us have a bad meeting and all the usual bods will be back shouting for an out-and-out number 1! Roll on March!
  19. Yet to see this anywhere official, however, if we have signed him, then he could be a cracker. We probably have, because Taffy always wets his knickers and posts on here when he needs to feel important. Screm, you must be running out of material plagiarising my posts!
  20. Too much Strictly Come Dancing on a Saturday night for Robin, I think
